Why did we destroy the soulstones in D2?

I mena, if I understand Diablo lore... Those soulstones were the only true soulstones, that actually could contain the greater evils (IN THEORY) indefinetly...
(aka the only way out for them would be due to outward influence)
While they can make artificial soulstones to contain smaller demons, it does not work long term for the greater evils and they will eventually break out on their own.

But in D2... we destroyed them? Because apparently we were killing them permanently? (which was retconned I guess?)

So... what was the justification for destroying the soulstones in the new version?

The enemies mistakes make complete sense. (Spoilers for Elbaph)

I have noticed recently (mostly on twitter but in other places too)
That people have complained that the God Knights fumble too much, that they seem incompetent or stupid.

And... Yeah?
That makes complete sense.
I honestly think it is a great characterization of the God knights because...
They are nepobabies.

Sure, I am sure they have competent training, combined with their absurd devil fruits and they are absolutely a threat.
But due to their regeneration (a pseudo immortality) they are sloppy.
They don't have the experience of needing to actually "care" of their surroundings. They haven't had the experience of actually needing to be careful.

They fuck up consistantly, because they have never had to actually be wary of surrounding dangers and lack experience in a proper actual dangerous battle.

They are essentially the equivalent to Logia users coming from paradise to the new world. Relying too much on their powers and not considering what will happen when someone actually can beat them up.

With maybe the exception of Shamrock, which we haven't seen yet, I would be more surprised if they were completely competent.

[Computer] [2000 - 2004] First person shooter in some sort of military complex.

PLATFORM(s): PC

GENRE: FPS

ESTIMATED YEAR OF RELEASE: 2000-2004 (might be earlier but I dont know)

OTHER DETAILS:

This is... an EXTREMELY vauge and I doubt it is enough.
But I have this super vauge memory from when I was a really young kid at a friends house...

You were going down an elevator in some sort of militaristic / scientific complex.
And you saw people throwing bodies onto a pyre on one of the platforms you went past.
Some sort of alien invasion OR disease outbreak, I do not remember which.

That is the only memory I have of it.

I recall my friend calling it Area 51...
BUT at the same time, we were somewhere between 5-7 years old and did not speak english.
So that might be a red herring.

I have no idea, but the flash of going down that elevator has been stuck in my head for 22 years at this point and I want to know.

The true superhero rpg… man I want it.

Something I personally think is underutilised in today’s market is the super hero genre for the sake of RPGs.

Now, there are plenty of super hero related games.
Spider-Man, Batman, wolverine is around the corner…
But what is lacking, are a good proper super hero rpg where you can make your own hero.

There are a few rare games that lets you do it…
(And frustratingly enough, it is the freaking Southpark rpg that does it the best! Which is… sad)

But the idea of selecting your power set, costumizing a costume and then going on a super hero rpg, where you have choices how to approach villainy, increase in strength, maybe become a villain yourself and so on…
That is essentially the quintessential childhood fantasy…

So I am somewhat miffed why it has never been done properly.

The biggest hurdle would be the power variety for sure.
And (IMO) should your hero outfit design more or less be open from the start. With little to few restrictions.

Personally would I prefer if the setting wasn’t any pre-established comic setting, to allow maximum freedom.

But beyond that, it honestly feels as if this has only really been done in MMO’s and while I love MMO’s imagining this but with actual choices and concequences in an RPG is too good of an idea…

But what do you guys think?

So... from what I understand, the town of Folsense is mostly abandoned and ruined.
(Making the actions you do in there kinda hilarious in hindsight)

But... who is fake?
Anyone from the train is by default not a hallucination.
And Anton Herzen or whatever his name was is also confirmed real, as well as his butler and the postman.

Is eeeveryone else a hallucination?
Is Mister Beluga aware that it is a ruin?
Is the Museum still intact or is that also ruined?
(Does Beluga know this?)

I am confused of how extensive the hallucination is honestly.

I know people have already said this before...
But man, they really should just have made the void T2 versions into sets at the vendor.
Because you can already guarantee to get them, by... just buying each chest 13 times...
(however to avoid dups you need to buy a chest, close the shop interface, open chest, collect item, reopen shop, which is just annoying)

They should just have put each set on the vendor and multipled the price by 9 or 10.
Boom, each set costs 50 acolades and 1500 Marl. (It even sounds reasonable)

The only reason I can imagine is that they wanted to make sure that people played as much as possible so you can't guarantee to get the pieces you want...

AKA:
randomize the boxes but guarantee that you get them eventually.

Sooo…

This feels EXTREMELY final to me.

As in, “this would perfectly be the final expansion in Diablo 4”.

Neyrelle. Dead.

Lorath. Dead.

Lilith. Dead. (might reform in Hell, I dunno)

Mephisto. Banished (In a way that conveniently lets them be summoned back for sequels if need be, just not by their own means. I mean, Lilith was banished in the same way and she was summoned.)

Blood petal mystery, Solved.

Now, they still could start new storylines in the west, with the other prime evils, which would also work.

We haven’t seen even a whisper of Diablo or Baal in the entire game so far.

But at the same time.

If Blizzard decides to say the game is done and there will be no more expansions, it would feel very natural.

What do you guys think?
