How does one get started in ballroom dancing

Long time lurker here, I didn't know anything about ballroom dancing growing up until I saw a performance in university. Well I am 10 years past graduation and now have some $$.

I am looking to do a Newcomer Competition locally but I am not sure how to get started. How to choose a dance form ? How much should I have saved for this?

Any courses? outlines on how to get started here?

What happens when someone doesn't get tenure after 10 years?

My partner (1 year) got a PhD in Econ from Harvard and was working as an assistant professor for the past 10 years (he didn't get tenure) and just finished his last year of contract with no other offers.

He wants to stay in academics. I am not aware of how academics works. He is becoming reclusive day by day so I am worried. I am wondering what are his options, is this normal, how can I support him?

Single professors what is your life outside work?

Will be starting as a Assistant Professor in DC, and I am not partnered up yet and looking to meet someone outside academia. What kind of hobbies do people have in the area?

I met this guy last year and we have been dating for a year now. I am really struggling in our relationship as he attends a lot of 12 steps. (AA, AlAnon, OA, WA...) 2 meetings every day. Where his life is so structured around meetings.

We just celebrated his 4 year anniversary in March, and I am there for him. I am new to the recovery world and this was my first experience with this.

In my life when I go through a hard time, I put myself into similar things like gym, reading, learning to not act out. So it kind of made sense to me. However, right now I am finding it hard to understand this. It makes me feel like he replaced one addiction with another (which I think is a better addiction than alcohol) but this relationship feels suffocating.

Where he is still living a very individualistic structured life, that we haven't even gotten to spend a weekend letting things happen. I am super confused.

Hi Everyone,
I am a little sad that I am hitting 30 and not married or partnered up yet. I have no one to call my own as my father passed away in 2023 and I live in the US all alone. I desire to have a family of my own, is this possible or should I mentally prepare myself for being alone and having other wants in life.

I (29F) was seeing this guy for 6 months (1 year of meeting) and he just broke up with me. So I am a little devastated. I want to have kids and I understand that I am on a biological timeline. I am very nervous about this, because ideally I would want to be with my partner for 2-3 years before thinking of kids with them.

My recent ex was all that my astrologer had said, had a hard past that caused him to reinvent himself (divorce). He worked as a Professor of finance and was in AA, and super religious. He was lean and tall and 8 years elder to me. I thought this was going to be the one. Now I am back to square one.

Is marriage not in my chart? (because I hear that too). I live alone and have no family and I really crave a family of my own.
