Anyone been in a similar situation?

I'm 67 M with joint problems. I'm waiting for a back operation hopefully soon. Maybe 3 times per week I enjoy a large glass of wine and maybe a whisky whilst watching TV. I'm now finding in the last 6 months that in the days I do this it totally destroys my sleep. I must wake up 3 or 4 times and take a long time to doze off. Additionally I'm really hot feeling like I'm overheating. Anyone else out there had this issue?

Heatwave effects.

I'm in the UK and we're into our 5th heatwave of the summer. It's 5pm and currently 37 degrees. So about 97 farenheit. I have various joint issues and these are unbearable when it's hot like this. How do others around the world cope with this. Most UK homes have no Aircon and it's sparce in public spaces too.

I don't want to own anything expensive anymore

Please hear me out. I'm 67 in a relationship and homeowner with partner. I have chronic joint issues with not much hope of a resolution. We are in the position to sell our house and rent somewhere smaller paid by the interest on the sale. Plus sold both cars and now just lease one.We both feel the need to get rid of stuff and live more simply. Looking for advice really. Anyone out there done this. I'm in the UK but all ideas welcome

Is Shabana Mahmood and her advisors lacking a little common sense?

Shabana Mahmood has just reversed her decision to give illegal immigrants access to new build homes. She is supposed to be a highly intelligent person who is surrounded by advisors who are highly intelligent as well. I cannot for the life of me understand how they made this decision. It's received massive negative pushback and now been scrapped. Do these ministers not have any basic common sense?

Urgent advice needed. Medication

I'm waiting for a multi level nerve block and hopefully an RFA but in a long waiting list.. My pain levels for several weeks have been really bad and constant back spasms. Can barely shower and dress each day. I'm currently taking baclofen for the spasms, naproxen for inflammation and cocdomol for the pain. I also have amitriptyline to help me sleep. Yesterday my doctor has added in tramadol. I asked if all the medicines were ok to take together and he confirmed this. Research on the web is throwing up major red flags with danger of respiratory issues. Not sure what to do.

What happened here?

Dishwasher went bang and this was the result. Anyone have an idea why this happened? It's a lesson I suppose it's a reason that appliances shouldn't be left running unattended.

F and investment trust recent developments

Logged onto the share price today and nearly had a heart attack. Price had dropped from £13 to £3.24. Then realised they have willingly reduced the share price and increased my number of shares. I've never come across something like this before. Why would they do it?

Looking for help with this

I have a large cd collection and bought this to play them in the car. I have a brand new 2026 xc 40 plus b3. I have tried everything I can think of including audiowagon. The drive is working as have tested it on my hifi system. Does anyone have any ideas?
