Let me start by saying I am NOT a recruiter, just a curious soul. Everyone’s probably heard jokes about joining the military if you don’t have much left, but I looked into it and it doesn’t seem terrible. Assuming you pass basic, you have a consistent source of income which also won’t be taxed as heavily, gov’t covers part of your expenses if you live on a base, and performing well leads to guaranteed pay increases.

Drawbacks would be losing a few of your freedoms (you have to be careful with what you say, your superiors might relocate you somewhere unfamiliar, etc), ethical issues if you have them, and the sadly nonzero probability of getting deployed the the Middle East.

Wha do y’all think?

Started the school year, am taking chem 1410 with a professor rated as highly undesirable, do I just go to myunt and select a different session, or is there some process I have to go through because classes have started?

I'm not sure if I have enough to write about in the last year to fulfill the same essay prompts, which may be my own fault. Should I write about things that aren't so recent (as in, happened a few years ago)?

Can we talk about how fucking AWFUL the app is? It’s a laggy mess and takes an eternity for the codes to load. Sometimes it just decides not to work at all, so I have to rant about this.

3rd time this has happened now. Customer pulls up to the speaker, gives me a code, I put it in the POS and…nope, the code apparently doesn’t exist. And every single one of the three times this has happened, the customer gives me a ton of shit and accuses me (yes, me specifically) of trying to scam them, which is ridiculous because to my knowledge, not every store even opts into rewards.

It’s also funny when they “threaten to tell corporate” because who do you think makes the app? It’s also usually BS because I know they’re gonna forget everything 5 minutes after getting their food. Then again, i don’t expect them to know how franchising works. Anyway, manager has to come over and try reason with them while they’re cursing us out, eventually just gives a small promo on the order to make them go away

Worst part is, the codes they’ve given don’t even consume points, so the only people losing is US, because this shit screws over our times. So far this has happened with:

Why do old people seem to despise ordering with the kiosk? It’s not like they always pay cash, they just really want to order at FC for some reason, which doesn’t always work for us.

Title says it all, I gave my two weeks’ notice and promptly got -8 hours the following week. Other stores seem to have this same trend. Any schedulers here who can tell me why this happens?

For a little while now we’ve been instructed to thoroughly clean all the floors/surfaces of the store, make sure the storage area and freezers are formatted correctly, observe the entire procedure when operating equipment, etc. Area supervisor has also been over frequently

I’ve also seen who I imagine to be maintenance personnel looking at the fryers/grills, checking the ceiling cables and related things, which might explain why half our lights are off right now 🤣

GM said he’d put me on back cash during the “visit” so I should follow every step of the order taking dialogue, you get the point

I haven’t worked at McD’s in 2 years so I’m kinda amnesic about a few things, but I do vaguely remember some kind of inspection that happens every so often. I also realized I probably could’ve looked this up or asked a manager, but I already wrote this whole post so 🤷‍♂️

For the last few years we had the machine which put the mixture in a pitcher to blend and you’d pour it into the cup yourself (by the way, anyone know the exact name of this machine?). A few weeks ago we “upgraded” to the one with the twin blenders on the sides.

Performance so far has been terrible, underfills the frappe/smoothie most of the time, leads to complaints from picky customers, also really struggling to mix the smoothie properly so you can see a bunch of the fruit sitting at the bottom of the cup. Would switch back to the old one in a heartbeat. Anyone else have this experience?

Ordered on the app, 2 fish fillets, 2 McDoubles, 2 fries. I watched the 4 cars in front of me pull up, get their food and drive away. I get to window and instantly get asked to “ pull ahead” to the waiting spot. Normally I do but today I was in a hurry so I said Can I please not have to pull ahead for once at this place? She replied “ You have such a big order we need you to”. I repeated my order and said that’s not a big order. She again asked me to pull ahead and something broke in me, I said I’m not going to. Instantly she calls to the back and says bump order # whatever to the front, he’s not moving. Literally 1 minute later I had my food. I know I know, I’m goin hear how was the spit sandwich and such but I felt like I won this time. Thanks for reading!
