3rd fret buzz. Easy fix or take it to a repair shop?

As the title suggests, having fret buzz around the first five frets. Sometimes it's just the third fret, other times it's the first five frets. Either way, it's a pain in the arse. I'm not sure the video will do it any justice.

Now, I am missing my tool bag so I'm short of basic tools to try and attempt this myself. The neck has a bit of a bend in it and the action, further down the neck, is far too high. This was never a problem before and I've had the bass for the last ten years and it's always well looked after.

I will be near a guitar repair shop next week, but I'm in two minds spending £50-£100 if it's a repair I could do myself.

Any tips on how to sort this out?

Many thanks!

Appreciation for RA3

I've played C&C since the 90s and ever since the Remaster was released, that has been my absolute "go-to". I bought Tiberium Wars, Kanes Wrath and Red Alert 3 for Xbox back in like 2011 for next to nothing and they sat on the shelf for years.

I first played Red Alert 3 back in 2021 and thought it looked too "cartoony" compared to the other games and then never touched it until earlier this year. I was dead wrong to sleep on the C&C3 collection because they are fucking fire! Playing them in release order, right now, and I've just finished the Soviet Campaign and that was the good bits. Tiberium Wars was a blast to play through, despite GDI Sarajevo, and Kanes Wrath was decent enough.

I had only ever played C&C on PC so I wasn't sure the console ports would even be worth the time and if it wasn't for Halo Wars, the AoE2: DE, AoE4 and AoM collection coming to console, I wouldn't have bothered playing them. But they proved you can play on the console no problem! Give us all the games remastered on Xbox, along with the Dawn of War collection, because I know it can be done!

I'm sad that the servers are now closed and I missed out on that, big time! On top of that, I don't need to tell everyone WE NEED ANOTHER C&C GAME!!! I'll easy start work on Red Alert 4. There's plenty of inspiration for it now.

So, that's my pointless post. The Xbox 360 (Series X) trilogy is a masterpiece and I'm sorry it took so long to actually play them.

Also, Ivana Miličević, you have a new fan!

Peace!

My OCD is crying right now

Why can't the Command and Conquer games just sit neatly next to each other? Microsoft knows something that little bugs me and they are sitting laughing at me, as we speak! I'd forgive them if they were in the wrong order next to each other but come on!

Same goes for the Diablo games. D3, D2 then D4. Why? Because it is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life!

Bond book or film quotes you've used in real life

Two Koskov classics:

- I was in a punk band for a while and we had a song called "The Sniper Was A Woman". It had absolutely nothing to do with 007, other than the name. I just always loved the delivery of that line.

- I was in an arguement at work where I told the guy I was arguing with he was "Sick like Stalin". No one caught the reference so I just ran with it. It has been a term I've used multiple times since, usually referring to delusional, unsavoury characters.

M34 UK

Looking for casual, laid back gamers, nothing competitive. Shite sense of humour welcome.

I'll play almost anything apart from Ark, Apex Legends or Fortnight. I've had bad experiences with them in the past.

I mainly play stuff like:

- Command and Conquer 3/TW/KW

- Any Warhammer 40k/AOS games

- Halo (got them all)

- Battlefield (don't have BF6 yet)

- Forza or any NFS

- Diablo games

- Age of Empires/Mythology games

- Call Of Duty (depending which one)

- Dragonball games

- ESO

- Minecraft, LOTR Return to Moria, Palworld

- Any Souls games (looking to start Nightreign)

- Yugioh Master Duel (but I am shit) or any other card games like Prominence Poker etc.

- Any Star Wars or Star Trek multiplayers

Basically anything and everything. I have Ultimate so I can cloud stream if I need to. I'd be happy to run through co-op games with people and play bigger multiplayer games as well.

I will be going solo once 007: First Light drops at the end of the month but other than that, I'm good for whatever, whenever.

DM your GT if you're interested.

18+ only.

Cheers!

No rule for repeated posts?

The only time this sub ever pops up in my feed is when someone posts "I've just finished NGE. What the hell!" Or "Don't know where to start, plsshlep!!!" And it's not like a once a week occurence. This is multiple times a day. I genuinely don't see any other content than those same posts, unless I go onto the sub itself and look there.

Isn't there a megathread for those who have finished and want to dicuss it, or ding dongs that don't know how to use Google and watch a series from S01E01? Yes, I am a sour-puss and I do often report low effort/karma farming repeated posts because that's what the tool is there for, but this page doesn't seem to have that.

I love the franchise, but I'm almost tempted to leave the sub because it's just the same constant posts, day in, day out. It's not just this sub. Others are far worse, but this is getting up there with those subs.

I know you are shocked by the ending. It doesn't need 15 of the same posts a day!

The Tomb Raider and Dark Souls 3 subs banned me for similar complaints. So I'm expecting no less from this sub.

Have a nice day.

Edit: someone is the Star Trek sub asked what to watch after The Next Generation. There are four movies that directly follow the series. Google is your friend and free. Same applies here.

Underated Homer moments?

For me, it's the entire episode "Lisa On Ice".

Homer is just a pure bastard from start to finish, with the turtle hostage, whipping Üter and threatening to smack Bart in the car, and it is journalistic dynamite! That is 10/10 Homer, for me. His stinking attitude is so fucking funny, and I feel doesn't get mentioned enough on here.

What's yours?

I had a clear out, on my friends list, because it was full of bots so I'm looking to start fresh. My Boys have moved on to PSN so I'm lone wolfing Xbox now. I'm not a serious gamer, quite laid back, but I figured it would cool to have so people on here again.

I'm not on all the time, with work, but I have GP Ultimate so I can easy cloud stream whatever. Not a big lover of Fortnight, Ark or Apex.

Usually play anything like:

- LOTR: Return to Moria

- DBZ: Sparking Zero

- Command and Conquer

- Halo

- Souls-like games like Dark Souls, Elden Ring, (Just bought but haven't played Nightreign yet)

- Diablo

- Any Warhammer 40K games

- Age of Empires

- Gears of War

- Forza

- Minecraft

- Any Star Wars

- Star Trek Online

- ESO

And so on. Just anything, really.

Add me: Creamy Mmm, if you fancy a game of anything, anytime, or if you need to bulk up your friends lists.

I'm a bit late to the club, it seems, but I just found out this can be played on Xbox, through the Edge app. I was looking at setting up developer mode for emulating OG Xbox games, since my OG Xbox just finally died, and stumbled onto a post with a link for a website. Don't know if this sub requires me to gatekeep that info or if I can share it, for folks interested in it.

It's as God awful as I remember it being, but I have the day off and I'm now invested. Xbox controller works, although my buttons seem to be set up Nintendo Switch style. Thankfully, I can work with it. 007 Racing and TWINE are also available.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success...

Edit: Forgot to mention it was Tomorrow Never Dies, for those who didn't play it

u/Topher_BCK — 13 days ago

Tomorrow Never Dies had more of an impact on me than I thought, for some bizarre reason, since I always assumed CNN stood for "Carver News Network". At no point did I ever think to look it up and correct myself. Every day is a skewl day.

Edit: this is just for a laugh, before the Bentley guy tries to rip my fucking balls out again!

I keep seeing "Changes to X film" posts but I'm curious as to how you'd make a really bad Bond film, intentionally. I'm talking actors, soundtrack, plot. Everything!

- Bond is played by an overly cocky Timothy Chalamet and to him, this means nothing. Just another paycheck and franchise to latch on to, while pissing off the Jazz, Opera and Adult Contemporary crowd. He has a shite Scottish/English/Welsh/American/Japanese accent and can't control it in certain scenes. David Lynch's Dune is 100% better!

- M is played by Jared Leto. Yuck! Enough said.

- Katy Perry is the Bond girl and acts like she just released Teenage Dream again, but still high on her "moon mission". She's double the age of Bond but acts like she's in her early 20's, taking lines of ket mixed with dishwasher powder at Jamie Cullum at Glastonbury, even though it's cheap shite and she wants to look "h4rdc0r3".

- Seth Rogan and Jada Pinkett Smith are the villians. JPS plays Irma Bunt, who turns out to be Bonds sister! The reveal is so crap as well. She's like "I'm Irma... John....Bunt... and I'm your sister!" Seth Rogan has all his stoner pals as henchmen, and this is not a comedy, by any means. He is secretly getting teens hooked on weed vapes and MI6 has to stop him! Almost an identical subplot to the purple ooze from the Power Rangers movie.

- Soundtrack is a supergroup composed of Nina Hagen and Yoko Ono screaming pish into the mic, Cory Feldman on Guitar, Nikki Sixx and/or Gene Simmons on bass (because it won't make a miming difference) and current Lars Ulrich on drums. Some alcoholic primary school orchestra conductor has replaced John Barry. 1st violin has no idea what they're doing but their Dad knows people.

- Plot involves Bond on a island, thanks to Irma Bunt, because she's pissed about the whole Christoph Waltz situation and wants revenge. So she traps a few 00 agents and makes them play childhood games, to the death, against each other. Nothing like Squid Game but basically piggy backing off the Squid Game success. Bond gets to the end of the trials and conveniently had a Q gadget to win the game and kill the villians.

There was some dick in my comments insisting on Bond driving a Bentley and that he never drove a DB5. Well, his spy car is a Fiat Multipla, but the Abarth version, for product placement. It has one heated seat and had a couple of Schwerer Gustav railway guns in the headlights, so it takes about 40 minutes to reload and kills the immersion. Seth Rogan is killed by falling into a vat of weed. The ironing is delicious. Irma Bunt gets away again, on a dingy in clear daylight, flat calm seas, but Bond can't make the shot, for some reason. How's that for canon?

I wrote a post about Bond shopping and it got deleted so in this film, he shops at his local Spar, in the reduced section. Buys American Legends for £11 because they are the cheapest cigarettes and his posty mugs him off, even though he's home. Proper realistic shit. He has a gammy wrist from a washing machine incident but tries to play it cool, even though he's secretly in pain. His suits are provided by Primark.

His flat is going to be heavily featured in this film. He has a John Lewis washing machine, which is unreliable but because it has an expensive brand name, he stands by it. One frying pan and a casserole dish he pinched from his Aunty. Buys his chicken from Costco and freezes it in bulk, but gets pissed off because it does not defrost quick enough and gets a takeaway, which he grudges paying £16 for, even with the offer. There's a cat called Maisy in his gaff who knows he's an arsehole and is the unsung hero of the movie. Kind of like Salem from Sabrina.

His piece is a USFA Zip .22 because Q branch are on a budget, because Nicola Sturgeon keeps spending £50 a day on breakfasts and taxis. Also, Google told me it was the worst hand gun. He has a dart shooting cigaratte case but keeps it in his back pocket and it buckles when he sits on it, rendering it useless.

Also, Ed Sheeran has a cameo as a junkie at a 24/7 petrol station on the M6 that Bond has to wipe out, while getting a Costa and petrol. Reading a Tractor Magazine, he gives the cashier a beat up £20 and tells him "keep the change" even though the grand total comes to £87.32.

The Communists and Soviets have it out but the Bolsheviks jump in at the last minute to deter the Lienz Cossacks from conspiring against the lense grinders from Omsk. But that never gets mentioned again. The Stalinist purges and all that.

The end credits is a song by Die Antwoord, but no one knows if they beat the alligations or not so they're in two minds about the song.

The movie is called: Death Talks a Good Game, or something equally diabolical.

So how would you make a crap Bond film?

EDIT: Thank you for making this a good laugh. Last joke post I made got deleted and people took it far, far too seriously. "OH BOND WOULD NEVER HAVE A MEAL DEAL BECAUSE HE HAS A REFINED PALLET". Quiet.

First time playing this C&C, even though it has sat on my shelf for years. What a fantastic game! Hate this level, though!

Peace!

I bought a job-lot of Action Clix, years ago, after watching AngryJoeShow's stream and I think I only ever played it a couple of times. I seem to have an infinite amount of Spartans and ODSTs and not enough Covenant. I could just play Spartans vs Tyranids ans Orks, for the millions of them that I have. (Halo 7 idea: Misterchef purges the Xeno scum)

I do see that the prices of them are wild now, on eBay, so I did consider 3D printing a couple of vehicles to go with them, but I've yet to get round to it.

I thought it was quite a cool purchase, even if I haven't looked at them in years.

*Picture was taken before I completed the game!*

This was recommended to me recently, after searching the Dreamcast sub for some decent RPGs. My Dreamcast catalogue was lacking anything with substance. So I picked up Record of Lodoss War, Dragon's Blood (Cult of Wyrm) and Phantasy Star Online from eBay, having never heard of any of them in the 27 years I've owned the console.

First of all, I am a huge Diablo fan so I was sold, before even buying it, on the idea and the gamble paid off! To start with, I thought "meh". Just another dog-ass Diablo clone. I've been rumbled by Reddit. I worked my way towards the Goblin Fortress hub world and rescued the Blacksmith and that attitude changed pretty quickly. From then on, I worked my way through the game, levelling up my weapons and armour to create an unstoppable beast, eventually turning the Blazing Sword into the Doomblade +275, I believe was the final level when I completed it? I have a habit of using the same weapons throughout the playthroughs. My ten playthroughs of Elden Ring fixated on the Bloodhound's Fang. So, because I didn't pay attention at the start, I had no idea about Ancients so I just put anything into my weapons and that was my first mistake. Turns out levelling weapons was incredibly easy and I was just being a tool. Raise that Critical level and pump damage and strength up! I was basically "one-shotting" everything near the end game.

Combat wise, I was expecting to get my ass kicked plenty of times and I did. Some of the deaths were unfair and rage inducing, like the fucking arseholes with the giant hammers spamming your dead body into jam, and others were me being stupid and deserved. Christ, it took me over three hours to do the Floor Guardian because those giant bastards kept trapping and spamming me! Once I snagged a pair of "Heavy Boots" and the upgraded versions of them, I was sorted. Getting knocked on your arse in that game is a severe punishment. But the combat was just was I expected, so I wasn't disappointed. A dodge feature, of sorts, would've been welcome but I understand it was 2000 when the game came out. We didn't need to dodge back then because we were all hard.

The magic system was great, despite the fact I mainly used "Fireball" and "Recall", up until the point where Fireball was no longer useful. But the Recall spell was an absolute lifesaver and possibly the best function of the game. So many times I was able to jump back to the Goblin Fortress before a big fight and level up, refill my potions and refine my unwanted gear.

Story wise, I never saw the Anime or was in any way familiar with the franchise until I bought the game so I went in blind. "Deliver some heads to a sleeping dragon and smack some boys". That was about it.

  • Since then, I have watched both ROLW and Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. I have been invested in some podcasts and unofficial audiobooks on Spotify, but I haven't been able to justify eBay prices for some reading material. Obviously, I went back on Youtube to piece together parts of the story I missed or wasn't paying attention to and it was an okay plot, I guess.

Since completing the Anime and Game, I have picked up the Deedlit game for the Switch and are currently flying through that. I would consider myself a new fan to the series, and I can't believe I've never heard of it until last month! But I went into this expecting a Diablo clone and I was not disappointed. It ticked every box for me! There were plenty of "Fuck this game!" moments and there were plenty times where I'd come home from work and next thing I know, it's like 2am, because I've been glued to it.

I clocked in at just over 66 hours, which for a Dreamcast game seems wild, to me anyways. I know the amount of times I've played Sonic Adventure, Red Dog or Soul Reaver absolutely dwarfs that but still. And that's nothing compared to modern games! But I'm going to give the game a solid... 9/10. My only, and I mean only, reason for not scoring it a 10/10 was the sound design. I saw myself just muting the TV or putting on headphones and listening to something else, a lot of the time, especially thanks to the Heavy Boots. That would drive you mental after a while. Plus there were like only three or four songs in the entire game, so that did get repetitive very quickly. It has a decent difficulty spike and was a lot of fun to play. I just love a game that doesn't hold your hand and I will admit, I had to go "Old-skool" and look up some walkthroughs from the early 2000s. But once you figure out where everything is and where to go, you'll do just fine! It's so refreshing to come across a game like this, in my Mid-Thirties, when I'm finding the current market stale. The only thing I'm after, this year, is the new 007 game. Nothing else is screaming out to me. So this was the perfect game to fall on to my lap!

So, Record of Lodoss War for the Dreamcast: 9/10! Absolutely solid effort!
