Since synthetic Diamonds cost almost nothings, why aren't watchmakers using them instead of Rubies? Is it the added brittleness of Diamonds over Rubies? If so, is that really that big of a factor?

How do I account for the very short pause between two ticks?
Right now my ratios were straightforward with;
>1/8th rotation of the barrel every hour > 1 revs of the canon pinion > reduction gear > 720 revs of seconds pinion > 10:1 escape wheel (21600)
also, 1 revs of canon pinion > reduction gear > 1/12 rotation of hour hand
but after all was done I realized that the escape wheel doesn't constantly spin but ticks, so there would be some lost time in the stop and go.
Am I overthinking this or is there a formula for me to determine the tiny time loss that is occurring in my head?

It's only Daydate but it adds a lot of complicated pieces I am yet to fully understand the functioning of.
I got two slots left in my watchbox, reserved for a two tone Tudor Oyster Prince date and a Rolex Oyster Precision/Perpetual.
Also planning to replace the HMT with a vintage Longines/Universal Geneve
I have a dozen more vintage watches but they all need to be serviced.

I normally go to Shaw straps but I don't think their leather quality is nice.
The watch is running extremely well. Within +1s/d and 0.3ms beat error but I observed the seconds hand jumping when I touch the crown.
I have seen it happen on other vintage watches of mine but they are usually cheaper stuff like Seiko but my nicer stuff like Favre Seaking or my Nivada SP don't do that.
