Hi all,
I lost my dad unexpectedly in October due to alcoholism. We had no idea how bad his drinking was although I started to suspect the severity. During this time, I was also trying to become sober but fully relapsed after we lost him.
My sober date is actually the day I found out how he passed away (it took the medical examiner about two months to get back to us). For a while, his death was my biggest why in sobriety but I’ve received such gifts and blessings that I shifted it onto my own journey.
I miss him everyday and I feel so sad that he struggled and no one really understood the depth of it. I’m so grateful to be sober, it was truly has been biggest gift to myself but damn do I wish he was still around.

Ugh.
We found out yesterday that our sweet 10 year old kitty has leukemia. She went to the vet 5 weeks ago with almost clear bill of health and since then she has lost almost half her body weight and they found a tumor in her kidney. She would have been 10 this September :(
It feels so unreal. She is in love with my husband and he’s struggling. She most likely is our last cat.
I will miss my sweet girl ♥️
This photo was in 2020 when my daughter was born.
My father, who was the sun in my sky since I was a little girl had died unexpectedly. We know the cause of the death but I am just missing him so so much. He was such a pillar in my life - a foundational piece of who I am and I have felt so unsteady since he’s been gone. He died three days after I had surgery to remove cancer from my body. The timing is interesting. I have received many gifts from him since his passing (sobriety being the biggest). But I struggle so much still.
Thank you
Hello all,
I am 7 months sober and LOVE it. It’s truly been the biggest gift to myself. My dad passed away unexpectedly last October (on Halloween) and he was my best friend. His friends are throwing a celebration of life at the end of August and it’s the first time I truly am struggling with my sobriety. I loved smoking weed and so did he (although never together) but I’m recognizing that I’m craving some type of numbness for that day. I know I need to feel this grief while also being surrounded by people who love him but it’s hard. Grief is hard. I just had to share.
