Feel really let down in a time of great need

Before I start, I want to clarify that I don’t want any suggestions of separation, that’s not what I want.

I am back home after surgery and I cannot walk or do anything for myself. I am normally a very active and independent person and I do everything around the house and with the kids so this has been a huge blow.
My family are here full time to help which is amazing and we would be lost without them.
The problem is my husband’s attitude. He does everything he needs to do, helps me wash, go to the toilet, etc, etc. But he provides zero mental support. The man is full of self pity, says he’s nothing to be happy about and goes around the house like a black cloud. It’s embarrassing, it makes me feel like I can’t ask for help and he’s horrible to be around. He’s being snappy with the children too, who had an upsetting week.
I’ve tried talking to him, tried telling him how he’s affecting everyone around him but nothing gets through. I’d rather he wasn’t here and told him he should just go to work and I’ll manage with the help I have but he said he won’t. I’m at a total loss as to what to do. I’m trying to come to terms with my current situation but I can’t because he’s making me feel worse.
Please help, what do I do?

Hospital ward muppets

Stuck in hospital on a ward and practically every other person is watching shit on the phones at full blast, it went on till all fucking hours last night and started up at bright and early at 6am.
If you can’t beat em, join them?? Any suggestions for the most obnoxious noise I can play?
No in all seriousness, it’s fucking ridiculous.

Just broke my leg

Just a rant to say I cannot believe this has happened to me and so worried about how I’m going to cope with my baby. There’s never a good time to break a leg but this fucking sucks.

4 year old has become difficult to manage

I need help, I’m at my wits end. My sweet little boy has become completely disobedient and I don’t know how to handle him. He cries at everything, he shouts, he hits and won’t do anything I ask. Getting him dressed in the morning and for bedtime ends up with him screaming. Creche have told me he cries a lot in there too. I don’t know what to do. We have a baby, but we always make sure he gets some 1 on 1 time with us every day. I’ve tried talking to him on his level, I’ve tried incentives for good behaviour and I really don’t know what else to do. I feel like I’m failing as a parent. I worry his emotional needs are not being met in some way and that’s why he’s behaving this way. I hate that I get cross at him and worry what if some of these moments end up being his core memories. Please help me as to how I can manage him better.

Cotton christening outfit?

Hello! Does anyone know where I can get a boys cotton christening outfit? I have searched far and wide and all I can find are those satin romper/ all in one outfits. My son has bad eczema and I can’t really put him in anything other than cotton.

How can I repair my skin quickly after Retinoid damage?

I went to my doctor with some mild acne, have always used Duac in the past which works well for me but she insisted on prescribing another acne treatment which contains retinol. Uhhhh it had broken me out so bad and my skin feels so stingy and dry and looks awful, particularly with make up on! I was trying to be patient with the purge etc etc but I couldn’t take anymore!
I have a really big occasion in 3 weeks and I need to improve the damage that has been done to my skin texture/ barrier.
Help me please! What can I do to fix this?

Rolling/ sitting milestones

Hi everyone, I know there is a lot of talk about milestones and I’m here to join the party!
My boy was 7 months last week on the 20th. He has been rolling from back to front and front to back but now he’s stopped rolling from front to back and just lies there crying.
He is also no where near to being able to sit by himself, he still needs a LOT of support. I feel like he’s falling behind a bit and I’m starting to worry.
So I’m wondering how everyone else’s baby is doing with rolling and sitting?

This is a tricky situation and I’m hoping to get some practical advice on behalf of a friend.
He’s from a non EU country and has been living in Ireland on a work permit for 6 years.
His wife and son still reside in their home country but applied for a type D visa in January 2025. The visa has only been granted now.
His wife is pregnant and due her baby in a few weeks time so unfortunately it is too late for her to travel to Ireland.
The 3 month timeframe will expire at the start of July, therefore it is highly unlikely that they will be able to get a passport and a visa for the new baby on time to make it here before the start of July. This would mean they will have to start the whole process again which is hugely concerning given it took 15 months to get the visa in the first place. His son is also due to start junior infants in the local school in September.
Are there any options in this case at all or do we just pray for a miracle that the baby’s passport and visa will be processed in record time?
