Metabo HPT 36V Cordless Plunge Router (Bare Tool) + Free Starter Kit; is this a good deal?

I’m not sure how good metabos routers are but have been eyeing up making a purchase. This is the plunge router which I guess can be used either way like a standard or a plunge. $279 plus a free battery and charger

Is this a must buy deal?

RYOBI ONE+ HP Brushless Cordless Multi-Tool…felt like a must buy to me?

Have Milwaukee for most of my heavier power tools but my entire collection started with my first drill my dad got me which was an HP+ Brushless model. I tend to add ryobi tools for some of my lighter needs (stapler) or when the price feels like a must buy

One HP+ Brushless Cordless Multi-Tool
Extra blades/sandpaper
4aH high performance edge battery
Rapid charger

$317 marked down to $116 64% off

Cheers to my fellow buyers

Circular Saw Options

Exclusively a heavy DIY/personal project user

I’ve just been borrowing a corded makita saw up until now. I have an extensive collection of the m12 and then 6.0 and 5.0 m18

What is the best circular saw option? The brushless fuel 6 1/2 just refuses to be included on any sales or hack. Is the m12 going to perform well enough? Am I going to need to look at the m18 fuel 7 1/4

I’m just torn. The 7 1/4 feels heavy price tag wise and maybe overkill. Is the m12 fuel going to be good enough to make things happen for me? Must I be patient on the fuel 6 1/2

Beach Cart Brainstorming

Am between building my own cart for the beach and making a purchase and modifying. It would need to carry decent weight with a cooler, chairs, umbrella etc.

The prices on beach carts are absolutely insane, $1000+ is not that uncommon. That leads me to believe I could build something that is both better and cheaper.

PVC options don’t move the needle for me, feel a little underwhelming/tacky. I know wood would need to be replaced overtime and metal would face rusting issues but the aesthetics are much more appealing.

The last option is theoretically the simplest, modifying a store bought option with balloon tires. Ie something like this

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Best-Choice-Products-Heavy-Duty-Steel-Garden-Wagon-Lawn-Utility-Cart-w-400lb-Capacity-Removable-Sides-Handle-Green/7057852

Which again begs the question of is the modification even possible

Would love to brain storm ideas or be called out on missing something obvious, overthinking, overlooking

Cheers! lets have a summer

Tire PSI Question

I purchased my new 2026 TRD Off Road in March and the dealership has the PSI at 50. They look fine, not overinflated. 0 issues driving. I love it actually

However getting a beach pass this year and purchasing an inflator I’ve been told that 50 is really high for tire pressure. Online research seems to vary on what people do

Best product for noise reduction for power tools & concert use

Hello,

Big DIYer and concert goer for years and only recently realized the important of noise protection. I’m sure I have some damage over the years but all I can do at this point is find the best solution moving forward

While debating my options loop came up and trying to understand the best loop earplugs that would quiet down loud tools like saws and impact drivers and also be good to use at concerts. The website info isn’t that clear to me

Thank you!

Don’t sleep on garage sales!

I’ve been slowly adding to my tool collection through these Memorial Day sales. But there hasn’t been a good enough one for the m18 circular saws. Driving home from Home Depot I spot a garage sale sign I pop in see a ton of old tool boxes and engine parts but no tools.

I ask the gentleman running the garage sale if there are any power tools specifically circular saws. He goes into his garage pulls this older corded craftsman off the wall. We plug it in, fires right up. I’ll have to get a new Diablo blade but when I ask the price he says $5. absolutely no brainer and solved my problem entirely

Keep an eye out at garage sales and don’t forget to ask the owner!

First Woodworking project, enclosed outdoor garden - need advice

I have a 11x9.5 garden plot in my apartment complex. We have raccoons, squirrels, rabbits that will eat the vegetables if it’s not surrounded on the sides. Then birds will swoop in and do the same if the top isn’t covered.

Last year I started late and did a simple steaks surrounded by chicken wire and then threw a net over the top. However, it was such a pain in the ass to work on, get in and out etc.

So I began to brainstorm. I want a clean looking enclosed garden with doors/liftable roof compartments. It will need to be removed at end of the season but I can figure out later.

The wood can be untreated simple lumber. I’m thinking 4 feet in height will be ample. Staple the chicken wire around the outside posts. Then have latches on the lifting top parts. I don’t want these to be heavy pieces of wood and I wouldn’t be putting the posts into the ground. I would attach them to metal stakes with heavy duty zip ties.

I’m sure I’m missing something or not considering all outcomes. Simple shopping list below, wanted to see what everyone thought

Shopping list
10 × 2x3 x 8 ft kiln-dried SPF studs
10 × 1x3 x 8 ft pine boards
1 × heavy-duty black deer/bird mesh roll (approx. 7–14 ft wide, ~100 ft long)
6 × heavy-duty galvanized strap hinges (8–10 in.)
4 × locking folding lid support brackets
2 × hook & eye latches
8 × galvanized corner braces
1 × box of 2.5 in exterior deck screws
1 × box of 1-5/8 in exterior exterior screws
1 × box of 3/8 in galvanized crown staples
1 × small box galvanized fencing staples

$698, 8 tool brushless combo kit. Must buy?

Is this a combo kit a must buy or should I wait for Memorial Day sales?

($698)

47% off, 4 batteries

I prefer the sawsall to hacksall, but I also fully understand that I could get this and then get a sawsall at a future date.

I’m concerned that they label this a brushless combo kit but it appears only the drill, impact driver, impact wrench, and angle grinder are brushless. Circular, reciprocating, and sander are all brushed? Or am I missing something. I really wanted all tools to be brushless.

Also I guess it isn’t the Fuel line

Have the ability to wait, it just seems like a good deal for 4 batteries and all the tools. Thoughts?

First tool set purchase, need advice

Most home renovations and DIY, I plan on doing several personal projects big and small. Additionally have 2 friends purchasing houses that need a lot of work so will be helping them with there

I technically have a brushless ryobi drill but I know most combo kits come with one anyway

Needs: Drill, impact driver, sawsall, circular saw

Wants: impact wrench, jigsaw, router

Memorial Day sales at Home Depot are coming up 5/14 and I’m monitoring HD website everyday at 3am to see if something special shows up.

Any suggestions or things I should consider or might be missing

▲ 1 r/Makita+1 crossposts

Made a post earlier this week to decide my future tool brand, I am ready to dive head first in. With home renovations, DIY projects, and everything in between coming up for the next several years the time is right.

I am leaning Milwaukee or Makita. Milwaukee Fuel series or Makita XLT
I currently have a brushless 18v ryobi drill which has served me great, I just worry about the longevity and durability of the brand long term.
I have not completely ruled out dewalt but it seems that Milwaukee and Makita bring a bit more power.
Makita seems to have the best ergonomics which seem to be overlooked.

That being said, it makes the most sense to start with a big power tool combo set - especially with stores like Home Depot doing their Memorial Day sale starting.

Needs
Drill (I have one but it comes with all by default so keeping it here)
Impact Driver
Reciprocating Saw
Circular saw (I prefer 7 1/4 but understand most kits come with 6 1/2)
2 batteries (somewhat standard)

Wants (Ranked in Desired order)

  1. impact Wrench
  2. jigsaw
  3. multitool
  4. sander

Anything else is nice but not needed.
I am open to buying a good priced combo kit and buying 1-2 tools in addition
While I love a good deal, I’m also not shy about spending money at all. Open to all suggestions

Replacing some boards in an old deck and upon pulling some up I realized the bottom box step has rotten joists. Has to be rebuilt which is fine.

Do I actually need ground contact PT wood? It doesn’t need to last 30 years, as it will be replaced soon, just don’t want to rot in a year
