Are the RAGS built in OpenWeb UI any good?

I use Notebooklm and it is good enough. I would like to try other RAGS. I have used anythinglm and opennotebooklm and they are just not enough.

OpenWeb UI website says they have built in RAGS. She they good? What open models I should use with RAGS? I don't mind using those cheaper Chinese models if I have to pay.

I am going crazy.

Anyone uses RAGFlow, LlamaIndex, Dify, LangChain, and Open Web GUI RAG to supplement Notebooklm?

I like NotebookLM but I feel like the answers are the good enough.. Some people mentioned the RAGS in the title and Notion. RagFlow seems to have potential

I have tried Anythingllm. It isn't not good enough. I have heard Open.Web GUI has built in RAG. Anyone has used it?

My friend's daughter wants to go to UT. I want to show her around. Where can I park? What can I show her?

It has been more than 30 years since I was a student. Where can I park around campus? What to show people around? Restaurants around campus? What do students do for fun around campus nowadays?

Is accent more important than skin colour when it comes to (American) national identity?

I personally think people pay more attention to accent than skin colour when it comes to (American) national identity.

You can have any skin colour, ass long as you speak perfect American English, you are American. You can be pale as a ghost, but if you speak with a heavy accent, no one will think of you as real American.

Can I lose my memory because of shock? I can't remember details of my friend's death.

SW

My best friend chose to end his life a few years ago. I remember I was shocked at first but not sad. The next few days, I felt like I was in a trance. Everything was on autopilot. After a a week (?), I was crying uncontrollably. An immense guilt and sadness overcame me.

I felt like I was in a bad dream I could not wake up. There are gaps in my memory. The harder I try to remember them, the more sleepy I feel. (I feel sleepy every time I try to remember what happened.)

Am I suffering memory loss? Also this is real. I have the orbitary and the death cert as proofs.

Please don't ban me if I break the rules.

NAT but studying to be one.

AiTH for losing my cool with my mom when she tried to lecture me with propaganda

I have a doctorate degree in pharmacy and I have years of clinical experience. My mom didn't finish high school.

For unknown reasons, she always tries to lecture me on how to take care of my heath and I think I am doing a good job. All she knows are propaganda and untrue info. I told her again and again that she is wrong and she needs to stop.

She told me I shouldn't drink zero sugar cola because sugar is bad for you. She said zero sugar means some sugar. I told her next time when she asks me for money, I will send her zero money.

She said I eat too much salt when I know I don't. She told me newspaper kills germs. Herbal drinks cure COVID. Chinese chi kung (healing arts) can cure stroke and Chinese herbs can prevent/cure all diseases and people will live longer by taking them. I told her if they were so great, no one would go to hospital and it would have been patented and sold as miracle drug.

She isn't trying to give me suggestions. She really thinks she is right and she is teaching me. Funny thing is when she doesn't feel well, she comes to me for help.

I just lost it and told her she doesn't know sh1t.

Why didn't my therapits do that? Just read "The gift of the Therapy" by Irvan Yalom. I wish my therapist would have done differently.

I just read "The Gift of Therapy" by Irvan Yalom. What an eye opener! I am in the process of studying to become a therapist myself.

My favourite therapist was very quiet. He always gave me the "puppy eyes" and "I know, I am sorry" nods. There were quiet moments and I had to fill the silence. Eventually I felt like I was my own therapist (perhaps it was his goal?) I was worried what he thought of me and I had a different personna in front of him. I wanted to present myself as a model patient (not needy, easy to fix, easy to talk to....)

In the book, the author shares himself with his clients! He gives active feedbacks! I wish mine had done the same! I now realised I was just try to appease my therapist and anticipate what he may wanted me to say!

I am reading some intro to psychotherapy textbooks. I know some authors recommend therapists be "transparent" so that they can observe and interpret transferance. Yalom already says many authors change their minds as it is just not as effective as being an active participant.

I think I am going to be a therapist that is active and communicate with my clients. I don't want my clients to be like me. I don't want them to appease me.

What's your style? Are you the quiet type to observe transference or you are the active participant who is also observing transference?

Sorry ESL

Bittersweet farewell after years with my excellent British English tutor. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thx for those tutors who really care.

I am ESL but I am proficient in English (C1 almost C2). I study reading and writing almost all my life. Despite the fact I obtained my doctorate degree and I took all my uni English classes(regular English lit classes, not English lit classes for ESL students) with locals, my accent was/is still noticeable.

I felt/feel very conscious talking to strangers, and my tone went/goes up and I would talk very fast subconsciously.

My tutor has helped me so much thru out the years (almost 3 yrs). Now he is moving from the UK to Straya, we can't continue our classes anymore. I also have reached a plateau (can't notice any additional improvement) and am planning to retire. Cutting cost is on my mind.

I just want to say a big thank you to Tom. I now have a hybrid accent (Brit/US/Asian). I am glad I spent the last few years studying English (even though people around me didn't think it was worth it.). Most people, including my bf, can't even remember my old heavy accent (but I got it recorded on my computer. Definitely a big improvement.)

Thanks you for all those wonderful tutors who truly care (and are well versed with accent reduction.) Can't even express with words fully how grateful I am. I wish there was an English word to express gratefulness, bittersweetness, contentment, emptiness and more complicated human feelings.

Thanks 🙏

(Thank you to my American tutor too >!R_ss_l!<even though he ghosted me.)

She has been so brave for so many weeks. When she came to us, she was so angry and unfriendly. Eventually she opened up and became a sweet angel. Last month, we noticed she had stopped eating. We ran labs, have antibiotics and steroids. She started eating but not enough to sustain her. Last night she could hardly walk. Today is finally the day we say goodbye. My eyes are wet as I am typing this. I can't believe I have to say goodbye so soon.
