Just saw the "Primetime" trailer. Am I meant to understand that the villain of the pedophile hunter movie is... the pedophile hunter?

In today's world, doxxing and public shaming for perceived slights and "micro-aggressions" are constantly weaponized, often baselessly, for any reason at all. And yet the positioning of Hansen in a critical light seems to cast more suspicion towards him, than the individuals who intended to engage in sexual activity with minors.

The intentionality of the trailer's opening: a white man waiting in the shadows like a serial killer, to prey on a scared-looking latino man, seems visually coded to communicate a dynamic of oppression from the jump.

I understand there being nuance to the legality of filming and entrapping people, let alone the morality of someone like Hansen for spearheading such an enterprise; but I think A24 and the filmmakers are walking a very narrow line with this concept, and may end up appearing more critical of Hansen than the predators themselves.

Is Anthony a serious fancast for Wesker?

Respectfully, I'm not sure if this fancast is just a meme because of his hair, or if some people see this as a serious option.

Antony is a fantastic actor, but just because he looks similar to the character doesn’t mean he’s the best choice for Wesker. I’d argue he’s one of the least desirable castings for Wesker. Besides that you’d need someone younger, leaner, and more physically fit, Antony has unfortunately had far too much screen time as another famous blonde villain everyone knows.

Wesker should be lean, feline, and at the apex of his physical ability, keeping in mind that the role would require someone with the youth and stamina for multiple appearances over the years. But most of all, I don’t think the Wesker role has anything to offer Anthony. This casting lacks imagination to me, and would rob a fresh face from the opportunity of making their individual mark on the character.

Even a Twitter slop option like Glenn Powell would be better as long as he never smiles, just for his charisma, presence and shredded physique and.... uh oh. Something must be wrong with me if I think Glen Powell would be a good option... but all the same. An unknown maybe?

EDIT: I've learned just now, his name is actually ANTONY not ANTHONY.

Question about Rogue Squadron: Where is their home base between A New Hope and Empire?

In between A New Hope when they were based on Yavin 4, and Empire where they've relocated to Hoth 3 years later, is there consensus on where Rogue Squadron based their operations, or did they just go system to system on their own?

I'm assuming that the Rebel fleet (if it was established at that point) would be stationed or gathering somewhere fixed, while Rogue Squadron has autonomy and stays mobile, traveling place to place, and recharging wherever their contacts or sympathizers can keep them hidden in between missions. Or do they just report back to base?

Any thoughts y'all?

Grand THEFT?

This is exactly what happened with streaming. Everyone dogpiled on top, with this illusion that everything would be available at low cost forever.

Trading money for no tangible product is edging dystopian y'all.

Would Plato be a fan? Or would he see Part II as "spread[ing] emotionally charged misinformation"?

This cute summary of Plato drifted onto my feed on Instagram. They misspell "society" in the third image, but I found that a certain game immediately came to mind. To a larger extent, this pretty much sums up why stories like Part II grate against my soul; in that they detail vacuous, emotionally-charged narratives that excite the audience, while inevitably offering a dishonest and morally contrived view of reality.

So while presenting itself as dark, gritty realism, I'd argue that Part II is instead sensationalist fantasy. Its story trauma bonds its audience into committing endless acts of violence which in itself constitutes the same violence its meant to criticize. But this irony is instead used by many as proof of the game's effectiveness, rather than the primary example of it's own hypocrisy.

Do stories like Part II erode truth and lead society into eternal chaos? I would say that its much safer to confront these ideas in a videogame, than in reality; where I'd argue that many people who look down on Joel for example, would make much of the same decisions exactly.
