Not because skipping brunch would magically buy us a house. Housing, healthcare, education, and childcare really did get absurdly expensive.

But they may have been right about the culture.

We became the ultimate consumers. We subscribe to everything, order random stuff on Amazon constantly, pay extra for convenience, replace perfectly good things because a new version looks better, and normalize dozens of small monthly charges.

The genius of modern consumerism is that it rarely takes $1,000 from you at once. It takes $8, $15, $30, and $50 from you over and over until you barely notice.

We carry a shopping mall in our pocket, with algorithms spending all day figuring out what to sell us next.

Avocado toast was a dumb example.

But “you guys spend a ridiculous amount of money on unnecessary shit” might not have been completely wrong.

Edit. There sure is a lot of people here angry at the machine as they fill it with gas. We can kill the machine but no one wants to be slightly inconvenienced.

I have several androidtv devices (official Google, shield, Onn).

Pretty much every time I turn in the tv, I have to force close the app and relaunch it. Otherwise it just sits there frozen.

Curious if there’s any rumors for. Full sized telescope like the se8 using the same technology. My SE8 takes bout 20 minutes before it’s ready to use.

A lot of people seem confused. I’m assuming the community doesn’t have many full sized telescope users. GoTo features on a full sized telescope is not easy to set up. You still have to do a lot of manual work every time you turn it on for it to know where it is. Seestar does that work for you, you just need to make sure it’s good and level.

Don’t get me started on polar alignments. You can say goodbye to an hour on a standard telescope
