Clan wars: which side wins?

The carry journey has been long and winding. I'm thinking about downsizing and sticking to one of these pairs.

The Smiths look cooler, and the MP 2.0 compact carry comp shoots super flat, but it's heavier than the 19.6 and just doesn't feel as good in the hand.

The g26 outshoots the bodyguard and has legendary reliability. Bonus points for being able to share holsters with the 19.

The bodyguard is kind of the wild card. I haven't really carried it as often as I had expected. Summer temps hit 100 here and I've been rocking the 19 pretty much all season.

What would you guys do? I kind of hate having duplicate roles covered, but I fear that if I sell off the Smiths, I'll miss them soon enough. But for me, I need to carry my handguns. I don't really do safe queens, especially with two like these.

Witnessed something very disturbing at range today

So I went to my usual range today in the afternoon, and there was one guy ahead of me in line who appeared to be filling out some paperwork for a gun. He didn't look like a "typical" gun owner, and seemed rather uncomfortable and awkward in the place. The guy behind the counter told me it would be a few minutes while he wrapped up the paperwork so I just sort of stood there.

Then all of a sudden the guy waiting for his gun goes, very awkwardly, "I don't think I should do this. I'm not in a good place right now" or something to that effect. He seemed to be really struggling to articulate something, and he spoke in starts and stops. "Just...sometimes I'm messed up in the head." "I don't think I should do this..."

Then he asked the employee behind the counter for his ID. He had also purchased one box of ammo, and the employee asked whether he was sure he wanted the ammo. The guy said yes and practically ran out the door. On the way out he apologized for the bullshit and then randomly asked if they did ccw classes here.

I'm not really capturing how much this interaction made my skin crawl. When the guy was gone me and the employee just looked at each other and our jaws were kind of on the floor. The employee said that that the dude had tried to rent a gun but because they won't rent to newcomers by themselves, the guy started the paperwork to buy one.

I honestly think that dude planned to kill himself, either in the range or later at home.

He said some other strange things, you could really see him mentally struggling to stop himself and sort of save face in public at the same time. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that -- the way your skin prickles and you sense something is wrong. I felt bad for the employee behind the counter, he had just started his shift and was doing his first transaction of the day and had to deal with that..

Anyways I just kind of wanted to share that because I've never seen anything like that before. Up until now I've never really experienced a "dark" side of firearms, but this encounter today showed me that there are people out there who see these things as a means to a dark end.

EDIT: just to clarify because there seems to be some confusion based on how I wrote this, the guy left the store without the gun. He took the ammo he paid for but asked for his ID back and exited the store as the employee was wrapping up his application.

NGD: Gen 4 g26

Went into Scheels to grab some ammo and walked out with this guy! Paid $325 plus tax, came with all this. I also grabbed a performance trigger but can't seem to get the locking block pin to budge...

Anyways, I took this to the range immediately after and what a great gun! Was so easy to shoot and the stock trigger is actually just fine. Was surprised by how well I was shooting it.

Best part is cross compatibility with my g19 holsters. All around a great day!

EDIT: I wonder if anyone can help out with some advice for the Glock performance trigger install. There shouldn't be a problem, but the slide won't go all the way back when I try and wreck the gun during reassembly. When I did get it all the way back it got stuck trigger wouldn't break, and I had to lock the slide back and then take the striker assembly out that way to get the slide off the gun. Everything lines up fine with the pins and I put the Gen 5 back plate on it that came with it. Any ideas?

Colt Cobra in 38spl

Saw one of these newer ones on the consignment table in my LGS for $600, used. Had some kind of Scorpion greenish/yellow wooden grips. Felt great in the hand, good sights and seemingly very nice DA/SA trigger. I kept picking it up and playing with it and could definitely imagine carrying something like that.

I'm struggling to understand how to price it, however. What do you guys think of that price? Looked in very good condition but didn't inspect every nook and cranny. Don't know much about revolvers.

Main spring weight in p226?

Does anyone know what the factory weight is for the main spring in the modern p226 guns?

I've got the X Carry Legion, which isn't being EDC'd during summer months so I'm starting to play with things a bit.

I bought the gray guns 17# and 19# mainsprings and competition sear spring set. They say they're still testing on the X Legions but for $15 I'm rolling the dice. I don't see why it wouldn't work based on my research, but I guess we'll see.

I just can't figure out what the factory weight is on my gun. I know 17 is mainly for competition so I might start with the 19 first. I was encouraged to do some more tinkering after polishing the strut, which made the DA pull noticeably lighter.

Anybody try this yet with the newer p226s?

3 Legends of the Game

Three modern legends of the ccw game. Whether it's a quick run outside with the dog or heading into hostile territory of your local Walmart, there are no 3 guns out there that can accomplish so much or conceal so easily.

All three guns came out within the last year. Hopefully 2026 and beyond continues to bring more innovative and amazing carry guns.

Which is your favorite? Anyone have this gun bingo card out there?

Why is no one talking about the p226 X Legion?

Just curious about this. It seems like such a legendary platform with such great updates (including the carry version, which I own) would have made more of a splash.

There aren't a ton of video or written reviews, and very few posts about the gun here or on the forums.

Is this a commercial flop for SIG? Maybe it didn't cost them a lot, considering they had the X series and various p226s already in production.

My take: it is a fantastic handgun. I own the carry version in DA/SA, the first of such in my modest collection. I carry all the pistols I own, so I have carried this quite a bit. It's definitely heavy but it shoots great and can be comfortably carried appendix for roughly 3-4 hours before it gets annoying.

The double action trigger is adjustable for pre and over travel, although I haven't really noticed any improvements when doing so.

So after having owned it for 3 months, would I buy it again? Probably not, to be honest. Or I would have gotten the full size in SAO as a range toy. The price point is a bit weird, which is maybe why people aren't talking about it a lot. For $1500 ish, it feels like a good price; but why not save for a stacatto CS at that point, or do a Platypus or something.

Curious what you guys think. How are we feeling about the p226 X Legion now that it's been on the market for 6 months?

Overwatch OEM minus connector for Glock 19 gen 6

Curious if anyone here has experience with these and can speak to their reliability. They're only about $50 out the door, so it seems like a good choice for modest gains

I'm using my gun for EDC so I don't want to mess with it too much. It would be nice, however, to improve trigger feel just a little bit.

I'm not desperate to change and am fine with stock, but if there are no changes to reliability for duty/ccw, then It seems like a conservative option with some benefits.

Any thoughts?

Debating getting Overwatch TAC trigger. Need guidance

I'm debating getting the Overwatch TAC trigger for my gen 6 Glock 19, but I'm a bit unsure where to start. I've never swapped out triggers or other internals before on my handguns, so I'm just not 100% sure if it's worth it, reliable for EDC, etc.

Overwatch suggests getting the TAC trigger as well as the competition trigger spring and the precision minus connector.

I'm a bit confused on things like the trigger bar type and finish. What's the difference between the "precision progressive die trigger bar" and the OEM Glock trigger bar?

How about polished vs np3 coated?

Lastly, I'm wondering if this is something I could do on my own or whether I should bring it to a gunsmith. The videos make it look very simple, and I'd like to learn how to do stuff like this, but looks can be deceiving.

If anyone has done this on your gen 6 Glock, I'd love to hear how it feels compared to stock. Thanks guys!!

Does this count?

Kinda random, but I have this OTF knife that is the most random collaboration ever -- HK and Hogue USA.

Bought it in 2019 and still going strong. Had a local knife master repair a broken tip and sharpen. Not the greatest steel ever but an excellent piece for opening stuff and doing West Side Story reenactments.

Anybody know the back story of this knife? Didn't know HK graced the knife world with its presence.
