hello everyone,

i'm a drummer and saxophonist so i have no idea about violins, but i'm looking to buy a violin for my mom, since she used to play back in high school and i think she'd enjoy being able to play again. she hasn't played in a while, so i'm not looking for like an extremely nice violin, just something she could enjoy and relearn on/ will last her awhile.

from knowledge of buying other instruments, i've learned that buying used can be very good, is this the case for violins too? are brands like yamaha still big with violins?

also, i'm asking this now but i'll probably buy it later (maybe around her birthday so i have enough time to save up.) i'd say budget is around 800 maybe? (please correct me if that's too little)

can somebody point me in the right direction?

Hello everybody, as the title suggests, i’ll be marching trumpet for my marching band season this year. I joined marching band only this year so i have no prior experience, but i came from bari sax in wind ensemble.

I’m mainly playing trumpet cause i want to learn how to play since it seems like a cool instrument. I have one at home but rarely play, also our band director needed more trumpets.

Does anyone have any tips for playing and maintaining the trumpet in marching band, or like anything i should know going in? Thanks!

(If it matters i’ll be playing on a jtr700 with my mouthpiece which is a yamaha 11b4)

I don’t know if this title is vague, so sorry if it is! I’m asking since i remember when i first listened to aerials by SOAD it gave me chills because of the riffs. How to disappear completely by radiohead also gave me chills cause of the lyrics and music. Asking for suggestions if any of you guys have songs like this?

I’ve been looking for a new MTB since I’ve now outgrown my trek marlin 5, and I want to do some more technical stuff.
I have a budget of max 2.5k, but preferably i’d want to keep it close to or under 2k. I just want decent specs that can handle blue and green trails with an occasional black.
I’ll also be using this bike for light commuting, maybe 15~ish miles max at a time to go riding with friends off trail, so i would like a bike that doesn’t feel too sluggish on pavement and on road. I also plan on getting a bike that i can keep for a while, and maybe upgrade along the way.
I’d prefer a full squish, but hardtail is ok.
I’ve been looking at the polygon siskiu t7 (UDH), and maybe the marin riftzone 2, but i’m not sure if those bikes fit what i want to ride.
I’ve looked into used, but i’m not sure if i want to buy used because i’m not too knowledgeable and wouldn’t know what to look for.
Is there any bikes i should be aware of that can do what i want? Should i save up more money to buy something better?
Also, i live in california, if that matters for brand availability.
