Understanding the weapons and what is the most powerful

Hey everyone

Just finished biome 2 and want to try and understand the weapons systems a bit more as initially I was just grabbing anything that had a higher number but firstly I hate the spitgaw one and prefer the carbine so have focused on that.

But trying to workout if a higher number is better even if the lower number has a higher bonus damage number?

I found a level 9 carbine (2nd picture) but stayed with the level 5 as it had all 5 points into bonus damage. Was this the right move?

Huge huge Shout out to everyone who commented on my last post about quitting! Just best Phrike on 2nd attempt with your advice!

Everyone here is a star, making the few settings changes you all spoke about, focusing on getting and upgraded weapon and upgraded health, shooting from the hip and always moving had me gliding around the 1st Biome and fully cleared (apart from anything I couldn’t grapple).

There was a gold room but I assumed that was bad news/big reward and didn’t want to risk my good run!

I don’t think I could have been more prepared going into the boss fight with all my stuff and it still left me clinging on after using the “back to life” relic!

A very big “yes” came out when I got him!!!!

Once again a massive thank you to all that helped on the last post!!

One question - do you start from biome 1 on every single run and work your way through each one until you finish the last one? Seems like it would take forever?

Or is the crimson teleporter always at the start of biome 1?

PS - yes I know it looks like I took the photos on a potatoe 😂 I’m old and it’s just easier for me to take the photos of my tv from my phone! Forgive me

Feel like I might give up after 3 hours

Hey everyone,

So I put 3 hours into tonight and whilst it was super fun, I just didn’t really get anywhere, I didn’t get much better and I’m really struggling.

I’m not new to difficult games having beaten all fromsoft games including the rogue like nightreign which is what made me want to try returnal.

The issue I’m finding is that it’s just so fast and chaotic and I just don’t feel like I have anywhere control or feel like I’m not just hanging in my the skin of my teeth each run.

I don’t feel like I have any game plan or strategy worked out. I got the house once but didn’t have a key, I think I maybe got to outside the boss room? Up some stairs but needed a special key?

Haven’t managed to find the melee blade people talk about.

Any advice? I really want to get though it but when I die again I feel myself rushing and then I’m guessing I end up under levelled? Should I do all side areas then the main story or the main story first and then go clear the side areas before doing the boss?

EDIT: incredible amount of replies, thank you all so much.

Took eveything on board and changed some settings, kept moving around, have managed to clear biome 1 area, got the melee weapon and got to 2nd stage of the boss. Have to take a break now as can’t face starting from scratch again just right now 😂 but will be back

Games that can be left to run in the background whilst working

Hey everyone,

Loving the steam deck and want to get a bit more use out of it.

Now what im looking for might not exist, but ideally I’m looking for a game that I can prop up on the side at work and play intermittently, let the story roll out in the background whilst I’m working and listening/watching that I can pause as and when needed.

At the moment I will have music or podcasts on but wanted to try and get something a little more interactive with the deck, but obviously I’m at work so can’t be holding the deck and playing if that makes sense?

DON 2! I am the weakest link 😟

Just a note to DON 2 players.

I see a lot of complaining about weaker players on here. I am at the moment a weak player and in DON2.

Just know that we are trying, I will always follow the groups pins and do my best in the fights, tried to set up my relics properly, we are trying to get better so don’t be too hard on us!!!!

Executors - can you give a new player some advice please?

Hey everyone,

So I’m going to switch over to executor as it just looks fun and cool and I enjoyed Sekiro parrying.

From guides I’ve been reading and watching it seems like the curved sword/blocking is out damaged by the swords you find? So do I keep a picked up sword and then switch to the curved sword to block when an attack is incoming? Are you still using the glowing sword attack when it’s ready even at level 10? Or am I wrong and you just keep your starting weapon the whole time?

Any relic suggestions? Guessing ones with attack up and guard counter?

Weapons am I looking for solely katanas? Dual wielding or two hand one sword?

I've noticed a lot of experienced players seem to skip the ruined churches?

Hey Everyone,

EDIT: great not ruined

2ND EDIT: Just want to say how incredible this community is, the speed and depth of answer that people give is outstanding, such an amazing community.

Been trying to pay attention and learn the perfecting routing, I'm definitely getting there and can even solo through the crater, the other 3 shifting earths have me completely spun around still.

One thing I've noticed is that when i'm with a party where we end up at max level and they are whizing around, they seem to skip the ruined churches in favour of the mini bosses, is this standard or just unique to the players I've been with?

Duchess with purple glintstone Kris and Purple Scorpion Stinger - Dual Wield or just single hand Glintstone Kris?

Hey everyone,

So trying to get my head around what’s best in terms of the title?

Should I dual wield or go with glintstone? The game is too fast for me to try out and understand what’s better?

Thanks

First shooter type game coming from Souls

Hey everyone,

So I've kinda steered away from shooter games but Returnal has always caught my attention.

I'm only a year into gaming and my history is 90% souls - Full fromsoft catalogue and all the other main ones as well as black myth, ghost of tshumia, god of war and E33.

So i'm going to jump in tomorrow but I'm not sure I understand roguelike.

When i die the game just completely restarts and I have to go through and fully explore the area again and pick up all the loot/weapons/kill all the enemies or do I be-line past a lot of that stuff to the point I was before?

I heard there is no save? So how long to complete a run usually?

My games history has mainly been hitting things with a sword/axe etc..., parrying, dodging and using shield so looking forward to some fast paced shooting choas, hope I like it so I can add this genre to my playlist

Groin/hip tense/over working

Hey everyone

Gt1evo arrived two days ago and have most of the set up dialled in.

Last thing I’m struggling with is the pedals/legs.

I feel a bit like I’m having to actively hold my legs up rather than being relaxed and supported.

Any advice please?

I’m thinking to raise the pedals a bit and move them away a bit?

Simlab GT1evo and Enduro seat arrive today - terrified of the assembly!!!

So finally receiving the rig and seat today, I'm not very DIY inclined (playseat Trophy took me 4 hours to put together and mount pedals and wheel base)1!!

Simlab website have a video that makes it looks super simple over a 3 min period but then sim racing garage has an hour long video which looks super complicated.

I also can't seem to find advice on mounting the seat slider and seat?

Any advice/hints tips?

Also on getting the perfect alignment and set up?

Do you angle the seat back a bit?

Do you angle the pedal plate down towards you or have it flat?

Do you slide the seat back and forward or move the two vertical struts that have the wheel base on it forwards and backwards?

Do you have the wheel tilted up or down?

BRZ vs M6 vs 992

Hey Everyone,

I'm a newish driver (about 6/7 months in). I'm doing race B at Lago Maggiore Reverse this week and had a 1.57.4xx with the 992 but the leaderboard seems full of the BRZ's with a few M6's thrown in.

I'm not good enough to just change cars and adapt quickly, for me to change cars, it takes me a good hour of time trialling to get the hang of it.

My question is, what is making the BRZ and M6 so much better?

Is it worth me taking the time to learn the BRZ?

Anyone want me to bring back a McLaren RS Formula Wheel?

Hi all,

I’m in the Uk and getting a Logitech McLaren Forumla Wheel to bring back as they’re not available in UAE.

Happy to bring back 1 or 2 extra if any racers want one?

Sparco Evo XL vs Simlab S1 Enduro - Shoulder Bolsters curve

Hey Everyone,

So I can't sit in a simlab S1 Enduro but have managed to sit in a Sparco Evo Xl which fit me well but was double the price of what I can get the S1 enduro for.

I am quite broad shoulder and my shoulders were across the bolsters, just slightly over lapping the outside but the curvature of the bolster wasn't very aggressive so it was comfortable.

It is my understanding the Evo is slighly wider then the S1 - does anyone know if the shoulder bolsters push further forward than the Sparco Evo Xl or are more gentle?

Has anyone got simlab products in dubai?

Has anyone purchased simlab rig/seat from one of the distributors here or direct from simlab and shipped it over?

How big a difference is not using daily Meta?

In the daily races, how big a difference does it make not using the meta?

For example the M6 is the meta at Watkins Glenn this week but I struggle with it and am thinking of moving to the 992. Am I putting myself at a big disadvantage or is the difference just at the top end for the aliens and getting a few extra tenths.

I’m an A rated driver with a 1.44.3xx at Watkins Glenn in race C this week

Meta M6 is 1.42.5 and the closest 992 is 1.43.5

My current set up. Will having a screen mounted be more immersive/faster?

So I am about 2m away from a 100inch screen here. To be honest I love it. But I’ve been drawn in by the Simlab GTevo and S1 Enduro seat so think I’m going to order.

Now I need to decide do I have it in front of the tv like the trophy is or do I mount a 43 inch monitor on the rig?

I’m very new to sim racing so is there any big benefits to having the screen smaller but closer?

EDIT: I bought PSVR2 but it made me sick and I was slower and just didn’t enjoy it

Head spinning on what TV to get for Simlab GT evo as simlab saying 50 inch won't fit

Hey Everyone,

Fairly new to sim racing so learning on the go.

Playing GT7 on PS5 and am just about to order the GT1 Evo with the integrated monitor mount.

Simlab says that 43 inch 16:9 monitor is the biggest it can handle and when I asked further they said that due to the VESA mount being in the middle on TV's and on the bottom on Monitors, this is why a 48/50 inch TV won't fit?

Are they just being cautious? Has anyone get experience of mounting a TV on simlab integrated?

If I go the Tv route instead of the monitor route, would the hight mean some of the dials/display is obscured by the wheel?

Integrated vario mount - 50inch TV

I understand the single screen limit for the integrated is

  • Single monitor up to 43 inch for 16:9 and 21:9 ratio, or 49 inch for 32:9 ratio

Is this due to size/weight or just the mounting? If I buy the different mounts can I attach a larger 50inch 16:9 TV? Or will this be too heavy?
