Nightlife and dancing options for tonight - July Fourth

Hey all, what are some good nightlife and dancing options for tonight? I'm going with a friend and they don't want to spend more than $10-15 on a cover. Preferably somewhere without a cover, but depending on the spot, that would work.

Elevated places to watch fireworks near the Battery tonight

Hello all, where are some good spots to watch the fireworks from the game that isn't in the Battery. I feel like it's gonna be a cluster fest getting into the Battery and finding parking. Thanks!

What banks stock Two Dollar Bills? I'm having a hard time finding them.

Long story short, I have some relative kids I want to give $2 bills to, but a lot of banks I've gone to don't have them. Does anyone know what banks carry them or where else I can get them? Thanks!

Is there a way to turn a laptop into a Freewrite-like machine, with no internet capabilities?

So long story short, I looked into getting a Freewrite, which is like a typewriter but with a small screen attached to it. The point of it is to get you to write freely, without editing, and stay off your computer with all of its distracting capabilities.

Two issues:

  1. They're too expensive
  2. The screen is too small

I'm wondering if there's a way to turn a laptop into a Freewrite, but also make it so that it can backup what you write to the cloud. I believe you if can remove the wifi card from a computer, that will do the trick, right? I don't know if you need Linux or not, but someone mentioned it, in another post of mine.

I think being able to hardwire into a router would be helpful, to upload what I write into the cloud, unless there's another way.

Has anyone done anything like this and have tips or instructions? Thanks!

I feel cooked by the internet and need strategies to break this thing long term

So I'm drowning from access to the internet. Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, porn, etc. etc. Here's the strategies I currently use, and they work to varying degrees.

-Lock up my wifi router power source for hours at a time, and overnight

-A standup desk with a Mac mini and monitor that isn't high resolution, so it's less satisfying to watch stuff online.

-I have a cell phone plan where my friend is the parent and I'm the child. FB, IG, other distracting apps are limited to 5 min. a day. I can request more time, but he has to approve it.

-I lock up my laptop and phone overnight, using a kitchen safe.

-I have a Brick device to block using apps, but almost never use it.

-I sometimes leave my phone in the trunk of my car

The biggest prob with them is being consistent in using them.

Lately I've been thinking I need to remove internet capabilities from my laptop. I heard someone say they did this by installing Linux onto their PC, which sounds promising.

I'm also looking to get a iPhone 13 mini. It's smaller and less satisfying to look at than my iPhone 13. I don't know how to get away from smartphones b/c I listen to audiobooks on Libby, that's one app I can't give up.

I've looked into Free Write and Remarkable Tablet, but those are so expensive.

I would love to have to pay a small amount of money each time I access the internet, just so there's an actual cost (even though the time cost is astronomical, my brain doesn't work like that)

Anyhow, if anyone has tips to help, please send them over. And keep fighting the good fight!

I have a locked Verizon iphone 12 Mini, it's paid off and it's in my name. Can a store unlock it?

I switched to T-Mobile 2 years ago and got an iphone with them. That phone is glitching out now and I need to replace it.

The 12 mini works just fine, but I didn't get it unlocked before I switched services. My balance and phone are both paid off. I've spoken to numerous Verizon tech reps, but it looks like they can't unlock it.

With that said, if I took it to a Verizon store, could they do something to unlock it? I don't know what they would do, but I'm getting desperate.

They also said that 3rd party unlocking companies cannot unlock the phone. Is that true? I don't want to pay for an unlock and it not work. Thanks!

Where can I watch the NBA Finals Game tonight, with the sound on (ITP)?

I'm looking for a spot that will be open late enough to watch the whole game and either has free parking or free street parking nearby. Thanks!

Should I go on a day trip with my family for my brother’s birthday? I don't think he wants me there.

I don’t wanna ruin the day for him.

He doesn't seem to want to see me because I called him out on how he needs to spend more time with his kid. We haven’t seen each other intentionally for the past six months. Only when we had to meet, like family gathering. I can make an excuse that my car won’t start.

Things have gotten better over the past month or so, but at the end of the day, my presence makes him feel bad and like a failure.
