Floating jars??

Soo I’m a beginner. I canned some apples using the ball recipe the first batch I did one of the jars siphoned. Doesn’t look like a ton of liquid was lost but some of the apples that were really soft got mushed and spewed out a little bit as well. The other jars from that batch I think are okay??

Did the second batch and let me tell you after a long day of canning I was this 🤏🏻 close to having a mental break🤣

I check my apples that are water bathing and one of the jars busted. Okay fine. Learning curve. But now I go to take my jars out and they are floating? One is completely sides ways. I’ve never seen that. Soo I’m concerted now. I’m a bit of a worry wart and worried that they are no good?? From what it looks like they have sealed. Can’t tell until the morning so they can’t sit.

The only thing I can think of is maybe apples weren’t cooked long enough? I did the 5 mins in light syrup like it said but this was my first time. Please tell me I didn’t ruin my second batch and have to those them🥺

Retail Recommendations

I’ve asked my client base through some polls what they look for in professional products. There seems to be a mix of them wanting both luxury products and some just wanting affordable. Which I can’t fault them. I know it’s a tough time out here.

That being said I do want to offer some affordable skin care. My motto has always been invest in the products that will actually change your skin. More so your serums/correctives that will do the heavy lifting.

I try to keep my moisturizers /cleansers on the more affordable end.

I use FR and glymed right now.

FR in comparison is pretty affordable professional skin care , but I’m curious is there’s any other lines I can look into that y’all suggest!

How to improve intellectually?

As I’ve gotten older I don’t feel intellectually my growth has followed. I’m in my mid 20s and when I was a teenager I wasn’t the smartest kid in class but was above average.

But now compared to others my age I feel stupid to put it bluntly.

I didn’t go to college. I am recently a new mom ( may be the reason I feel so foggy and not as sharp now days 😅)

I’m having a mid life crisis and part of my plan to regain my footing is to improve in this area.

What books do you recommend? Things to research? Things every adult should know ?

I’m open to any topics. Finances. Politics. Mental health. Life improvement. Anything. I want to know what is your #1 thing you recommend.

At what point is working not worth it?

I know there is a bit of nuance to this and everyone’s situation is different. So I know answers won’t be cut and dry.

I’m a first time mom so this is new to me.
My husband is the bread winner and takes care of the bills. I have been trying to work to bring in more income to be more comfortable. I don’t have anyone to consistently watch my child. So i have to work weekends. Not ideal but I will.

I found a job where they will allow you to bring child with you to work (early learning center) but you still have to pay tuition for your child to go there.

I wanted to work part time but I’d be paying MORE than I’d make.

If I work full time I’d still be spending about 60-70% of my income (not including my husbands) on child care. Full time to bring home not even a part time paycheck.

Again, I know everyone is on different places. I guess I’m just looking for what would you do? Do you think it’s worth it?

Trying to be a working mom with no help (besides working dad) is hard ☹️

Introducing allergens

From my understanding you’re supposed to introduce the allergen by itself in the morning to rule out allergy and monitor.

My question is once baby is on two meals a day do you do the first “meal” the allergen by itself ? And if there’s no reactions give second meal at dinner time?

I have peanut butter to my baby for second time today. He doesn’t seem to have any reactions. But he has been more interested in food and I feel bad when I can tell he wants to join dinner time but I haven’t given him any other foods that day if I’m testing an allergy. I’m wondering if it’s okay to give second meal ?? Am I over thinking this?😅

Pampers amore for crawlers?

We have been using pampers amore for about a month or two. We love them! We were using huggies little snugglers and then the Costco huggies (little movers plus I think??) but once we got to size 2/3 I just was not impressed with the quality. They felt like they changed.

This is our first baby so I haven’t had a ton of experience with different diapers.

I’m curious if anyone is using pampers amore for their babies that are now becoming mobile? I don’t even know if this is a valid concern but the way the market diapers seems like you have to use certain diapers once they start crawling/walking? My little guy is crawling and pulling to stand and quite a mover.

So for those of you using them for you movers, how are the pampers amore holding up?

Gift for husband. Help.

My husband uses the Harry razors to shave as of now. Just out of convenience. We can get a big pack from Costco.

I know he wants to upgrade to get a better shave/precision.

Please excuse me if i am using the wrong terms. New territory for me.

He mentioned a straight edge razor would be nice after seeing me dermaplane my face (I’m an esthetician so I do this often for my self and clients)

I don’t think that would be the best option for him. I know it’s not polite to get someone a gift that you think would be better than what they asked for… BUT hear me out 🥲

He’s a low maintenance guy and a busy one at that. I know the straight edge would be more up keeping for the blade to ensure it stays sharp. Soo I was thinking the shavettes where you can switch out the blades. But then I saw the safety razors and thought that might even be nice since he can change the blade on that too and it (in my mind) would be a similar technique to what he’s doing now?? I know it will be a learning curve either way but I’m concerned the shavette might be a bit aggressive for him.

So my question is what would you recommend? And which brands? I know these are subjective to personal preference but with some guidance I think I’ll be able to pick something he’d enjoy.

I’m about to throw the whole house away.

I’ve always been a person where to much clutter stresses me out and I have to clean up before relaxing.

I wouldn’t ever consider my self to have actually been a minimalist. But I have a hunch that’s what my brain needs 😂

I have no idea where to start. I have TOO MUCH stuff. I get urges to what to take a trash can to the counter and swipe my arm across the counter. Butt I also have this thought of what if I need it. Or I’ll regret getting rid of it for one reason or another.

What’s your advice on where to start. How to start. Anything. Give me all the advice 🥲 please.

Introducing allergens

Not sure if there’s a better sub to post this in, if so let me know!

We are just starting with solids and are a couple weeks in. I have only introduced a slice of sour dough to baby and he completely fine and loved it!

I’m worried about all allergens honestly. I’m can’t seem to find the answer after googling so maybe I can find some help here.

I know what the top 9 allergens are but I’m curious how common it is to be actually allergic to those tops 9. It makes senses that when baby’s have reactions it’s typically to these foods but looking into introducing allergens it feeling like he’s likely to have an allergic reaction. I’m wondering if I feel that way because there’s so many cautions and warning around these foods.

I also saw a post saying their baby was fine with hard boiled eggs but not omelettes?! Is this real?!

Backyard inspo

I have two dogs (blue heeler and blue heeler /collie ) and the blue heeler is a bit more of my wild child.

They have free access to the back yard almost all day unless we aren’t home or they have “earned” them selves a break. Typically by barking too much at people passing by or my blue heeler and our neighbors dog will “attack” the fence. We are currently trying to correct this but is difficult.

My blue heeler specially LOVES to be outside. So I want to improve our yard.

I don’t feel our backyard is very interesting to our dogs. I want to make it a bit more sensory and enrichment friendly. I know that won’t fix any issues with their barking/reactiveness with the neighbors dog but hoping it might fulfill them a bit more to be less interested in other things happening?? Even if it doesn’t help it would be nice for them to have things to enjoy and better quality of life.

What are something things you have in your yard for your dogs? I’ve seen people do things like sniff stations or dig pits ( not my fav idea 😂) but i need some inspo!!

Rotating car seat recs

For a little bit of context my baby just turned 6 months old. I currently have been using the Joie Rue infant car seat because we wanted a travel system.

I have a feeling baby HATES this car seat. Always has red marks from straps and always feels like he is over heating (possibly in combination that he screams the whole car ride😢) he’s is close to out growing the height limit for this car seat so I’m looking into getting a rotating car seat!

I don’t have very many limitations as for size /weight of the car seat. I DO want something more comfortable / breathable for him. I know this can be subjective but any input is welcome. Our back seat is pretty spacious and we don’t move the car seat around very often.

These are the ones I’m considering but just not sure how to pick since they are a bit more pricey and will be in use longer than the infant car seat.

Cybex Callisto g 369

Even Flo extend

Nuna Exec (I know this doesn’t rotate, but my hubby was intrigued by this one)

Joie Matcha OR Saffron (hesitant on these due to expirence with infant seat)

Which ones have you tried or do you recommend between these?! Is rotating seat worth it? (We are both able bodied so would just be a convenience future for us.)

TLDR:
Which rotating car seat do you suggest ?

Cybex Callisto g 360/ Even Flo extend/ Joie Matcha OR Saffron/ Nuna Exec
