Polish Lovage

Wow! Lubczyk/lovage seems to be a best kept secret of Polish cooking. I‘m surprised it hasn‘t become a thing here in the United States.

I live outside Seattle and got a package from Amazon. I’ve used it a couple times now. Today, I made a kielbasa and cabbage soup. I was almost done, tasted it for salt, and remembered the little package of lovage. I added two pinches. It made my very basic, easy soup a solid 10. It gives such depth to the broth.

This is a solid secret ingredient!!

Haunted Theater gets 👍👍

I love the hint of buttered popcorn against a very pleasant caramel.

Makes me want to sit on old red cushioned velvet and watch an old Hammer Studios horror movie.

Recommendations please

I‘ll be spending a week in Krakow this coming December and would like some recommendations from locals. I prefer non-touristy, dimly lit, cozy, historic, authentic restaurants. Fancy is not necessary.

Would like restaurant recommendations for breakfasts and dinners.

Kazimierz has some Jewish restaurants that seem to provide an “experience” and caters to tourists rather than provide an authentic dining experience. Any hidden gems tourists overlook that are recommended?

Would like jewelry store recommmedations with a good selection of amber.

Would like grocery store recommendation that‘s a good overall place to look around and pick up a few things to take home.

Which Polish ceramic shop will have the best selection and provide the best shopping/shipping experience.

Any hidden gems in Podgorze that may be overlooked.

We are planning a full day of paying respects at Auschwitz/Birkenau. Will we regret not taking time to visit the Salt Mines?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Chicken Enchiladas with Tomatillo Sauce

This recipe is in the latest issue of Southern Living. Definitely a keeper and 👍👍. A bit time consuming to put together but majorly worth it. Used a rotisserie chicken from Costco.

Southern Living has the best recipes! This PNWer appreciates them!

My nightstand

Spent two nights downtown with my granddaughter last week. Picked up this Jimothy print at the Space Needle gift shop. I couldn’t resist.

Big Wheel

Been playing tourist. Tuesdays and Wednesdays in downtown are great! Less crowds, more room, no lines anywhere, including the Needle.

Chicken and apple with sauerkraut

Bought a big container of sauerkraut at Costco and made dinner with a good portion of it tonight. Used my 12” Lodge skillet.

Everything tastes better cooked in cast iron, including sauerkraut. And sauerkraut’s great for gut health.

For cost cutting, does anyone else have an easy dinner that contains sauerkraut?

Costco Lifetime 8’ x 12.5’

Hired two guys to put together the treated wood base, and the shed. Holds a ton. Ten anchoring screws didn’t come with the shed, so I made a dash to the hardware store for them. It’s not as cool as many sheds on this site but it serves its purpose. I wish they had aligned the shutters better.
