Highlights:
The average price of 3-year-old used cars has increased 38.2% ($9,027) since 2019, the last full year before the pandemic.
Today, only about one in nine 3-year-old used cars costs less than $20,000, compared with nearly half in 2019.
Buyers now have to consider used vehicles nearly twice as old to find a majority of them priced under $20,000.
Among best-selling used cars: The Hyundai Elantra had the largest price increase, rising 56.0% from 2019 to 2026.
