Rental gowns - venue is Antipolo City

Hi po! Just want to ask for your suggestions kung may alam po kayo na pwedeng magrent ng wedding gown. Sa Antipolo po ako magstay and the wedding venue would be in Antipolo rin po. OFW po ako so I think gown rental na talaga ang option ko since hindi naman ang bibili ng mahal na gown. May nakita po ako na Keiz Bridal Studio. Sa mga naka try po sa kanila, kumusta naman po ang experience? Saka anong process nyo po from fitting the gown to actual wedding day?

Hoping for more recos pa po, salamat!

Courthouse Wedding expectations, HMUA/Photo/Video Teams Recos

I think this is so dumb but I don’t know who to ask and I have not planned anything like this before. Please bear with me and hoping for your kind responses on my queries.

My partner and I are planning to get married in a courthouse in Scarborough. Since we’re coming from our home together, and we do not really have a separate venue like hotel and whatnot, does it mean that the hair and makeup team/photographer/videographer would all need to come to our place to do all the pre-ceremony tasks? It just dawned on me since we only have a small apartment and doing a lot of things all at the same time would be crazy in a small space.

For the brides, did you have to go to the makeup artist’s studio to do your HMU, and go back to your home to dress up? Or will it be better to just do my own makeup and don’t think of all the hassle of going back and forth? My partner doesn’t really care much about his grooming so lucky him, but for me, Idk how to figure this out tbh.

I am thinking to find a HMU artist with a studio so I can go there (possibly with my partner’s mom), and just inform the photo/video team to go straight to the courthouse, and do not take any preparation photos/videos. Is that normally the expectation for the courthouse weddings? We just wanted a simple ceremony, but we also wanted to get the photo/video service for formality. So not sure how this will all be doable.

For Filipinos, we have superstitions that bride and groom should not see each other before the wedding, did you do anything about it or how did you manage it? Were there other things from our wedding traditions that WE MUST consider? Please note that we would also do a separate wedding in the Philippines in 2028. We just wanted to legally get married here in Canada first.

Side note: just want to ask, could you please give some recommendations please for any HMUA with studios that specializes in like Thai makeups, or something very soft/natural that still elevates the Asian features?

Also, could you please give recommendations for photographer/videographer that is okay to cover for the courthouse ceremony and pictorials in Scarborough? For this, I think 1 team is better than having 2 separate teams, so it would be seamlessly done?

Thank you for taking the time to read this post 🙏

Brides from Abroad na sa Pinas kinasal or magpapakasal palang

Hello po sa mga bride from abroad na nagpakasal or magpapakasal sa pinas, paano nyo po na figure out ung wedding dress/gown nyo? Tbh, ang plano ko kasi is umuwi ng 1wk before ng kasal, then punta ng Divi to find and shop for the gown. Then, ipa alter nalang.. pero not really sure if doable nga ba ung ganitong plan lalo limited ang time namin sa Pinas.. as much as possible, gusto ko lang sana makahanap ng gown na gusto ko instead mag pa custom kasi mahal for sure..

Sana po may makasagot kung paano kayo nag navigate about it. For context sa Marikina po ako so pagpunta palang sa Divi, time consuming na rin.. i am more on the plus size rin so worry ko rin if meron bang for gown that will fit me.. please help po huhuh 😭 kung dito naman sa Toronto ako magpapa custom ng gown, mas mahal rin plus baka mahirap dalhin pag umuwi kami kasi nasa maleta.. please please help po 😭 salamat 🙏

Same year wedding for cousins

Salamat!

Effect of weight loss on women

30F here, I am still on my weight loss journey but I am very happy that I’ve lost 20lbs already. However, I noticed that my menstruation is pushing longer than before. I have it monthly, only 3-4 weeks, but this past few months, the cycle just keeps getting longer, sometimes 5-6 weeks apart. i was expecting to have it on the 1st week of this month, but I am delayed again. Is this normal side effect of losing weight for women?

Line of credit

This might be silly but did anyone here get a line of credit for the purpose of having it as emergency fund?

I am single and just wondering if that’s a good idea to start. I really feel bad to keep my fund idling in the chequing/savings account so I invested them to TFSA and put some in HISA (NEO). However, every time I withdraw from HISA, it took 3-5 business days before I can actually have the money. This makes me worry in case I needed cash immediately. I’ve heard line of credit will serve as a buffer and banks often offer lower interest for any borrowed money. I think this is fair instead of putting the expenses on credit cards too.

For context, my bank is RBC, so I am thinking to get LOC with them. I have 2 credit cards with total of about $10k.

Thank you for the response 🙏

Wedding options

I am not sure if this is the right sub to look for some advice or recommendations regarding wedding matters but since I’m Filipina, maybe I could get some clarification here..

My partner (Canadian) and I are already thinking about getting married next year. I am based in Toronto but I would still want to get married in the Philippines with all my family and friends present. We were on the same page to do a wedding in the Philippines and just a small/civil wedding here in Toronto. However, I am not sure which wedding should we do first.

-is it better to get married 1st in Toronto then 2nd in the Philippines? Or should be the Philippines first?
-if 1st in Toronto, did you have a hard time getting papers then bring it to the Philippines? Did you have any issues like passport names, immigration and such?
-if 1st in the PH, was it hard to get the marriage certificate considering the limited time we have there? Also, Did you have any issues like passport names, immigration and such?

I think I am overthinking about things but I realized that aside from planning a wedding, I think we should also consider how are we going to deal the legalities.

Thank you for the response 🙏

To Philippine CPAs in Ontario

To Philippine CPAs in Ontario, could you please share how was your experience when you challenged the exam here? How was it compared to the PH CPA exams? Did you need to enrol in any review centre or self-study would be enough?

I admit I am not really smart and tbh, I am worried that even if I study, I would fail any exams. If I challenged the exam and failed miserably, would I be able to retake it?

Hoping for some real life advices here. Thank you!

GTA Accountants

To GTA Accountants, do you think getting the CPA is really the way to have good senior positions and have 20%+ increase in salaries especially if living in Toronto or GTA?

I have CPA in my home country (Philippines) where I had audit and industry experiences. Then, moved to GTA and worked in industry for 3+ yrs.

Honestly, I feel that I am so done with studying so the thought of working towards getting a CPA designation in Canada doesn’t seem appealing to me. Also, from what I’ve read so far, there will be updates/changes in the CPA process in the next year or two (?) If that’s the case and if I work on my CPA here, would it be a good timing to do it now or should I wait until the updates are done? Please please correct me if I am wrong about the supposed updates (?)

Would really appreciate some insights from the people here. Thank you! 🙏
