Many of you are aware that Amex has voluntarily agreed to abide by the new surcharging rules come Oct 1st. Businesses will no longer be able to surcharge customers for the use of Amex.

What many of you aren't aware however, is that whilst the major banks will be capped by the government on how much they charge businesses, Amex will not be.

Amex has sent a letter to all its merchants saying that they won't be reducing the fee they charge businesses. The major banks WILL be reducing the fee as it is being capped by the government to reduce the pressure on small business.

This means we are likely to see a huge number of businesses no longer offering Amex as it will no longer be financially viable for them, especially our small local businesses who are aleady being squeezed tight.

So less opportunity to earn points and another question mark as to whether the exorbitant annual fee is actually worth it in Australia.

Does anyone know what the new cost of acceptance is likely to be from 1st Oct?

I am with NAB and they keep saying that they don't have this info yet and that letters will be sent out 'soon'. I've been ringing each week and it is always the same answer.

It's 5 weeks away and frankly piss poor that this hasn't been released yet.

I've now been through one freelancer and two agencies, and unfortunately they've all taken the same one-size-fits-all approach to managing my Google Ads (I'm in the service/healthcare industry. Revenue approx 1.5mil. Not too many competitors.). Despite charging premium prices, none of them have actually improved performance and in some cases they've actually made things worse.

I'm now looking for what I hope will be my last account manager. What are some green flags and red flags I should be looking for when choosing someone? Any tips on how to tell the difference between someone who genuinely understands Google Ads and someone who's just applying the same generic strategy to every single business?

All the account managers have been lovely so far (just not great at what they do) so it's always super akward and stressful telling them I don't want to continue services. Part of me thinks maybe I could also be the problem, or am asking too much ☹️

Has there ever been any official clarification on that the Arirang logo means/symbolises? I've seen lots of fan theories but never an actual statement.

Is there anywhere within 1-2hrs of Tokyo where I could take my 65yr old mother (I am a male) for 2 or 3 days during the June rainy season? Money isn't really an issue. A traditional hot spring town would be ideal but it's going to be so hot. So somewhere similiar with a beautiful up-scale traditional resort type feel would be great. I have tried googling but it's so overwhelming and my Japanese is non-existent although I have visited quite a few times.
