Thank you target dummy

I forgot I was a horde warrior - thought I was on my alliance alt, and ran right into alliance alterac valley guards and prospector stonehewer. Dazed immediately and a guaranteed death if not for the advanced target dummy.

And they're not just great defense, they're great for offense too. I can comfortably pull 3-4 even on a rogue if I want to use a dummy (up to 5 with sap).

[Star Trek: Voyager] Why would a superweapon weapon be given sentience and a personality?

In the Voyager episode Warhead (Season 5, episode 25), the crew beams an artificial intelligence on board that turns out to be a sentient superweapon. It takes over the holographic doctor's program and uses it to make demands to the crew to finish its mission - to destroy its enemy. The engineer on board the ship was able to convince the missile that the war for which it was launched was over, and then the missile heroically sacrifices itself by destroying a fleet of similar incoming missiles who refuse to believe that the war is over. and chose to ignore the self-terminate command (actually they were past the fail-safe point, my mistake)

So my question is what reason could anyone have for giving missiles personality and sentience? It seems like a recipe for disaster.

I actually feel much safer with a mount

I got a robe of the magi drop at level 39 and sold it for 30g, so I was able to get a mount at 40! Despite being a rogue, places like badlands are scary without a mount. Now I feel much safer going anywhere outside of town.

Are there any mobs in the 40s+ that are designed to ruin your day similar to Greater Obsidian Elemental?

I'm doing a fire mage challenge and I just got 41 and bought my mount. Very happy with my progress so far, but I just wanted to know if there are any mobs that would totally reset my progress if I encountered them.

For example, from doing some research I found that the Greater Obsidian Elementals in Burning Steppes have spell reflect so a crit pyroblast would mean certain death.

Do you think it's worth getting a mount as soon as you're 40 if you have the gold?

This is my first hardcore toon to 40 (fire mage) and I bought a mount as soon as I hit 40. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't buy it, but that was in fact most of my gold and I hear that hardcore gets harder post 40 so I'm a little leery of losing everything.

It's too late for me to reconsider, but do you all think a mount is a good purchase for most players, or is it a luxury you should skip in hardcore?

ELI5: How does the human brain's visual cortex utilize differential geometry in processing what we see?

I was reading various websites about the function of the visual cortex in human vision, and I kept seeing that the visual cortex uses the principles of differential geometry to process what we see. But trying to keep track of and look up all the terms such as Lie algebras, contact structures, bundles, sub-riemannian geometry etc, I got so confused that I couldn't really figure out what differential geometry even is, much less how it enables us to see.

I always wanted a little Fyrakk! I'm very happy

I love how he looks like cooling lava, such great design. I used to be far too timid to raid, so I never had a shot at this mount customization when Amidrassil was out. Really glad they made Fyrakk soloable now!

Do you have a favorite hearthstone screenshot?

This is my favorite from two arena seasons ago. Relic of Kings -> Bat Mask -> windswept pageturner for the win. I developed such a shit eating grin when I realized I could do 63 damage next turn.

Is there any downside to wrapping every warrior ability in a macro that selects the appropriate stance and begins attacking?

I mean like:

#showtooltip Charge
/cast Battle Stance
/cast Charge
/startattack

This is an incredibly useful seeming technique I read about on a reddit post, and I was wondering if this kind of macro works for every ability (pummel, whirlwind, etc) or if there is some hidden downside or bug.

Is it worth paying 3k for a blinkstrike now or will it be too obsolete in P2?

I didn't get a blinkstrike on my rogue already because I was holding out for a spiteblade, but spiteblade never dropped in all the time my guild did Kara (I got full bis otherwise). Big mistake, I know, but I'm wondering how best to make up for it now.

I estimate it would take about 10 hours of farming to get the 3k gold I'd need to buy a blinkstrike. Is that time well spent, or should I hold off for a P2 weapon?

edit: pvp weapons are easy to get now, if you're reading this and had no idea. there's no rating requirement on s1 gladiator weapons anymore. So get pvp weapons and win if you're behind like me

I'm doing about 1k dps as a rogue (link to a mag fight), and the sim says I should be doing something like 1.6k dps with my gear (link to gear sim). 675 dps is so much that I must be missing something really obvious. Are there any usual culprits?

I'm doing the 1 point slice and dice then alternating slice and dice and expose armor. For consumes I was using elixir of demon slaying and elixir of major fortitude. I tried to time berserking, adrenaline rush and blade flurry to coincide with bloodlust, and I had windfury the whole time with no poison on the MH.

I appreciate that this ability of Scalecommander Sarkareth's doesn't just tell us we die after 20 sec of not collecting fragments, but instead we are treated to a two sentence cosmic horror story about perishing alone in space.

Are there any other moves in the game either from NPCs or players that have a great name or awesome flavor text?

I was wondering if I have any way to beat umbra or the 3/2 guy that copies deathrattles. It seems like one flash flood is enough to take on one Khelos, but for the rest I'm not sure what I could slot in the deck. I rarely face the deck, but still, just wondering if I had any way to win or if it's an insta-concede.
