Leaf Blowers
Please forgive my complaining, BUT:
I realize I'm new here (only in my third decade, all spent on the same street), but when, the fuck, did leaf blowers become so ubiquitous? I for one cannot stand them. Not that any of the building maintenance crews observe the law that states their use is forbidden prior to 8am (with certain exceptions if near enough to a park), but even if they did I believe, deeply, that they are still a blight on our city. The noise they produce is HORRENDOUS. I place them at equity with the horrible sounds of the cooking oil pump trucks that suck out the many grease traps across the city, though those trucks serve a necessary purpose. When did a broom just stop working for the small frontage of every building? And all these damned things do is blow the garbage/water/leaves in front of a neighboring building! They do nothing to "clean" anything other than the immediate area, AND THE NOISE. I know we are all dying for the sound of a screaming machine in front of our windows in the predawn hours. None of us need the sleep anyways, I suppose.
