Canadian Webley Special

Just stopping in from Canada to showcase an antique MK1 Webley from 1890-1892, using light smokeless handloads.

Load recipe is: 230g LRN, 3.4-3.6g of Win 231, CCI large pistol primers, using 45 auto rim or 45ACP cases (45 auto rim in this case)

First time pour, first three cracks filled good, then it turned into this jello. What happened?

This is my first time ever time pouring epoxy. Poured three cracks just fine, went to pour another and this jello consistency epoxy flopped out. I suspect I may not have “scrapped the sides and bottom” while stirring properly, or there wasn’t the correct mix ratio, but I’m just asking for a second opinion.

For reference, this was alumilite casting resin (black by default, no dye added)

Happy WGW from up north Eh? (Antique Swiss 1882 revolver)

Just a Canadian stopping in with one of my favourite antique handguns, the Swiss 1882! Cheers everyone!

Sawed off over under (Canada legal compliant sawed off)

Here in Canada, you can saw a firearm off so long
as:

- the barrel isn't cut below 18" (18.5" semi auto)

- the overall length isn't cut below 26"

This was an inexpensive USSR Baikal that I bought for next to nothing as the rib was de-soldering at the muzzle and the stock on the right side was pretty chewed up (didn't matter to me since it was all getting cut off). Figured I'd turn it into an SBS and I'm happy at how it turned out! Next steps are to spruce up the wood, drill and tap for a sight, and maybe, just maybe, wood burn some art into it like I did on a previous build.

Cheers!

Are combo .22LR/.22WMR revolvers eligible for exempted handguns per the Olympic sports exemptions? (BC)

So I actually managed to get my first handgun exemption for sport shooting and picked up a Ruger MK4 (awesome!). But I was curious too about picking up a .22 revolver to compete as well. One that I found that seems suitable is the Taurus 992, which is a revolver that comes default with both a .22LR cylinder and a .22WMR cylinder. Are revolvers in .22 allowed as exempted .22 sports shooting firearms? Would there be a problem since it comes with a .22WMR cylinder as well? Cheers everyone!

Sunday Sawed-Off (legality in description)

Legal reminder:

- Barrel can’t be cut below 18” (18.5” semi auto)

- OAL can’t be cut below 26”

Figured it was that time of year again to make my annual SBS, thought I would tackle an o/u this time around! Surprisingly, I think I like the look of the o/u finished product more than the 2 sxs’s and the one single shot I’ve done.

Anyways, this is the start of this year’s cut down build. I may do some wood burning art on the wood like I did for the single shot.

Cheers!

Swiss 1882 revolver misfires, cylinder seems to move forward upon cocking/double action and snap back

So my recent acquisition Swiss 1882 misfires, like 2-3 bullets per cylinder without fail, with light primer strikes. It doesn’t seem to be on specific chambers either.

The only obvious thing I can see which may be hard to see in the video, is the cylinder, although solid as a rock lockup wise, seems to move forward slightly upon cocking the hammer (or double action), and slides back slightly when the trigger is released. Any ideas if this is the issue? Do other people’s Swiss 1882’s cylinders have that tiny bit of back and forth? Is there a best fix? Cheers!

Some love for the Chiappa model 1887

Nothing super special today, just wanted to showcase the Chiappa 1887 in action with some buckshot and birdshot.

For those who are interested in the pistol grip version, the only thing to be aware of is that the pistol grip is MUCH beefier than say a shockwave or cruiser grip (and therefore isn’t the best perhaps for small hands).

Cheers!

Yes I’m going to get roasted, but I got a real big problem.

Somehow using the brass rod I’ve used 100 times, it got stuck in the barrel while cleaning corrosive ammo. The only thing I can think are the patches I used seem thicker than normal. The rod itself is not sticking out on either end, the whole thing is lodged in. Hammering another rod in from the breech caused that rod to get stuck (since it stuck sticking out, vice grips managed to get it out, but not without completely damaging it). Next, I thought a long screw driver THAT WAS UNDERSIZED hammered in from the muzzle side would surely knock the brass rod back. Nope, that got stuck too. So now I have a screw driver bit, a brass rod, and a patch stuck in a barrel that hasn’t been adequately cleaned after corrosive (meaning rust will form around the rod every day that passes).

Before a gunsmith is mentioned… this is Canada. And the Canadian government is not kind to the gunsmith trade as of the last couple years. Therefore, the only one left where I am has a 9 month wait list just to get a sight mount drilled and tapped, let alone figure this out.

Please, someone tell me they have the magic solution.
