Our long goodbye has significantly shortened

My grandma (90) has been in a home since last May. In this year we’ve watched her rapid decline & I’ve dreaded this dragging on for years as she was still verbal & walking - I was able to take her out & have somewhat normal conversations with her. But I did notice that she’d forgotten how to clean herself properly after toileting & the home didn’t seem to notice- said it was fine (it was not!). This weekend she had a fall & had to go to emerg - they ruled out a TIA & confirmed a very severe UTI - prescribed antibiotics & sent her back w/Tylenol. They did not xray her despite the home stating she needed it because of her extreme pain after the fall. She went back to emerg the next day and we insisted on a CT scan- turns out she has 2 broken shoulders & a broken hip. They won’t operate on someone her age as she’d need PT & it’s too complicated with all the fractures. So now she is being kept comfortable on pain meds & will never get out of bed again. Doctor gave her a few days to a couple weeks as the pain meds will eventually stop her from eating & drinking. This was not how I expected her to go so I’m a little in shock. It’s so hard to see someone you love in so much pain 😢.

Super disappointing experience

First time user as a home/pet owner and chose a couple with glowing reviews, they were a bit odd, but older & seemed responsible. My pets are super easy - indoor cat that has an auto feeder & a dog that is super chill & quiet. All I asked is that the dog be fed dry food & go for a short walk once per day & that the litter be scooped. I checked my door camera when I got home & my dog had not been walked even once in the 3 days they were here. When I got home, I noted the litterbox had not been scooped. I feel so sad that my pets were neglected. My dog’s bed was in the living room instead of my bedroom too. The recycling bin was weirdly emptied into the garbage can & the garbage was beside the bin- which I had asked them not to take out because we have bears. I left detailed instructions & nothing was followed. I was hoping to get a good review as a host- my home was spotless and I even left a freshly baked loaf of sourdough & told them to help themselves to anything they needed. I didn’t get any updates either. Is this the norm for free pet sitting? Should I leave a bad review? I’m holding off until I’m less angry, but I feel like pets should not be left in this couple’s care.

REGERTS!!

I literally just brought myself out of a flare with ketotifen and eating low histamine & then tried a pre-workout drink with Beta-Alanine, Taurine, and L-Theanine in it and had an immediate and horrible reaction that’s lasted 3 hours. Flushed and itchy face, extremely itchy hands and arms, and near panic attack. Oi vey. Never again!!

Kirkland 5-ply vs. Meyer 3-ply Supersteel

Update: went with Meyer since it was on sale & I didn’t need the full set.

Really trying to decide between this set from Costco or the Supersteel line from Meyer. They both get great reviews and I don’t necessarily need the full set, but I have decision paralysis right now. If the Kirkland set went on sale, that might help. Meyer is having a big sale right now.

Awkward ADHD sitter (me)

Anyone else ever send an update to an owner & then get ghosted? Then you realize what you said may have come off as weird? I have ADHD (aka no filter) and sent an update about how I was concerned their dog didn’t poop in the AM & that I hope they go in the yard before our evening walk. The context I didn’t include is that on our walk the day before, this dog took a giant 💩that I had to use 2 hands & 2 bags to pick up. The owner never responded & the sit has since ended. No tip, no review, not even a Thank You. Now I am spiraling knowing full well that what I said was inappropriate & not needed. I am so embarrassed. Please tell me your most embarrassing update you’ve sent!

I’m becoming a family plan orphan.

I have a 1740 day streak but can no longer afford the super plan on my own and the person whose family plan I was on got a free spot on their friend’s family plan. If anyone has an open spot, I’d love to join your plan - offering to pay is against the rules (and risky), so free would be best. Please DM me or add @yoginicam to yours 🙏

Does everyone feel worse after treatment?

Just joined this sub as I’ve recently tested positive for H Pylori. I am waiting to start treatment as I’ve just had two rounds of antibiotics to treat Morganelli Morganii bacteria in December & Giardia in April. I’m currently trying to repair my gut lining a bit before treating the H Pylori. I honestly have no idea how long I’ve had it & since treating the giardia, my gut feels so much better, so I’m not even sure I have any symptoms of H Pylori - maybe a bit of bloating & gas, but that’s it. Is it worth completely killing off everything in your gut to treat this & potentially feel worse after? Everything I’ve read on here so far seems to suggest this might happen, so now I just don’t know if it’s worth it.

How to decide on a sitter

I’ve just posted my 1st ad ever for Vancouver island and I’ve had multiple applicants. All seem very capable & seem to have decent profiles - there’s def one couple that have way more reviews than anyone else. So I’m curious how you decide… are there red flags I should be looking for? What kind of questions do you ask on a phone call? Sometimes I can be too trusting, so I am a bit nervous of choosing someone who is not the best fit more my pets. Any tips welcome. Also, as a sitter, what would be a green flag from me. I want people to also feel like this is a getaway for them, not a job!

Pleased with Shark Ninja customer service.

Because of this sub, I found out that the grey-ish sludge I was wiping off my spindle after every use was NOT normal. Okay, gross 🤢. So I contacted Ninja as I bought my machine from them directly & let them know the issue. They contacted me back & agreed that no, this is not normal but unfortunately my warranty had expired & all they could offer me was 30% off. Naturally I was not pleased since I was not aware this was an issue as it had been like that for pretty much the entire time I’d had my machine (just over a year). They offered as a 1-time good will to replace my machine for free (I just had to cover shipping). I’m very pleased with their customer service & can’t wait for my new machine to arrive!! I just had to cut the cord on my current machine, not send it back.

Has anyone had a visit to a nurse practitioner covered by our plan? It’s for menopause care and I wasn’t really expecting a bill since I had to go to her due to my doctor being useless, but here we are. I don’t mind paying, but would be nice if we were covered. I just don’t see NP listed under healthcare providers.
