New GBC game released in 2025? ✅

Just kind of wanted to brag a little, as I just got my hands on a new game released for the GBC from a small portuguese producer (Teknamic) called “Alentejo: Tinto’s Law”. The game is surprisingly cheap for what it is, and came with all the oldschool manuals and maps to bring me a bit of nostalgia :)

I know there are a few other small indie developers doing physical releases for retro consoles, so give them a shoutout as well and share some links so we can appreciate and support them as well. I was just so surprised and proud for my own countrymen that I had to share :)

Edit: just to share the link to the game itself:

[request] At what theoretical bullet caliber/weight does a warning shot to the air pose a life threat or seriously hurt someone on the way down?

I understand that a bullet shot to the air might have a bigger speed when it comes out of the gun than it’s terminal velocity when it comes back down. But at what point does it consist of a life threatening risk? Does it depend on caliber/weight? Is it never a risk? Since it’s a common law enforcement practice, I suppose someone already did the math on this..

ULPT Request: Being incorrectly fined for littering. How to be heard

So, basically my city is fining me for littering with the “evidence” of an amazon box they found on the floor with my name still in the address label. I know for sure that I put it in the recycle container, but someone must have gone through the container scavenging or something and threw it in the floor.

I tried explaining that but noone cared, and my options are to pay a ~300€ fine or take them to court and potentially pay 10-20x that.

I don’t have that kind of money hanging around, so I’m thinking maybe just pay the fine and then print a lot of dummy packages with the city mayor’s name in the shipping label and throw them all over the streets, see if the fines apply to him as well.. I’m afraid of getting caught in some camera and worsening my situation though.

Any other ideas?

Game storage conditions

Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I have now a considerable collection os old consoles and games (spectrum, NES, Master System, etc) and I’ve been displaying them in my office at home. I have some questions regarding game and console preservation, and I’d like to hear how other people do it to see if I can improve my storage conditions.

1- I’ve heard that if we have an air purifier in the room, there is less dust in the air and it’s easier to clean the collection and less exposure to dust if we have consoles out in the open. Does any of you have one that could confirm if this is the case?

2- in my office there is a home server that usually does some heavy processing at night (cheapest energy), and it increases the room temperature to about 30-35°C. Do you think this temperature can have a negative effect on the games and consoles?

3- Any other tips or quick wins I should do? I’m looking for a UV filter adhesive to put in the room’s window, but for now I just try to open the curtains as less as possible.

What exactly consists of a Soulslike game?

I’ve seen this apparently new genre name being thrown around and would like to understand better exactly what it is. From wikipedia I understand it was bourn with the game Demon’s Souls, which I never played (maybe I really should), but the description there is a bit generic (games “known for large worlds filled with enemies and emphasis on environmental storytelling”).

Would for instance Horizon qualify for this genre, or does it have to be set in a dark fantasy theme? I love RPG games, but usually don’t go for dark fantasy. I think the last one I played that’s maybe dark fantasy would be Diablo, but not sure it’s related.

Thanks in advance

What are some RPG features/mechanics that are no longer used and you miss them?

I was thinking these days that I sort of miss some rpg features from the old days, like geting to name every character, having a camp to spend the night with your characters and you get to talk to them and learn a bit more of their backstories (chrono trigger; breath of fire; etc..)

Do you ever think about these things? What other features do you miss?
