Debating getting NBA 2k26 in the Steam Sale for $10. I played 2K since 2k9 but fell off a few years ago. Is 2k26 a step in the right direction?

Yo!

So I'm an old head and I've been playing for a long time. My first 2K was 2K9 with KG on the cover. Back then I had to choose between NBA Live and 2K and man I'm in Boston and the Celtics are my team, how could I not take 2K. I loved it. There was a steep learning curve and more advanced gameplay than Live but the MyPlayer mode was everything.

A few years later I'd fall in love with MyTeam and that was ALL I ended up playing. I never was able to get into MyNBA/Association but I really want to. So when I saw 2K26 for so cheap I was like yo maybe I should dive in.

Last year with 2K25 when Tatum was on the cover I gave it a chance. I played for 7 hours according to Steam and I remember thinking it was fine but I also felt like the game was unfair at times. I could not get into the MyCareer mode and wished it was more like MyPlayer back in the day where you'd just go through Summer League, get drafted, and try to bring a championship to a team!

I tried to look up reviews and everything is MOSTLY from around launch so its tough to gauge because I have always felt that everything is way more positive at launch than later in the lifecycle. I know 2K27 is around the corner in October so I'm trying to see if $10 is worth dropping for a few months worth of playing before then.

So I guess the bottom line is:

  1. Is 2K26 worth diving into for $10?
  2. How is MyNBA this year?
  3. How is MyCareer? Is it or is there anything like the old MyPlayer?
  4. How is the gameplay compared to 2K25? Step up, same, or worse?

Not even gonna ask about MyTeam because I'm sure it's the same.

My apartment is constantly 10-15 degrees F warmer than outside, what can I really do?

Hello

This seems to be a fairly new issue as it didn't really happen before last summer. This summer I'm fed up and looking into how to remedy this.

I'm on the 2nd floor in a multi-family apartment building. I have someone below me and someone above me.

Even with my AC going I get the temp down to maybe 73... but even when it's cooler than 70 outside I can never get it much lower than that. A few weeks ago it was 68° outside and it was 76° in here. I turned on my AC and it dropped to 73°. Right now it is 70 out with moderate humidity (around 60%) and a feels like of 72. It is 81 in my apartment. It's always like this. I live by the ocean (the beach is in view of my building) so we have a constant breeze so I don't get it. My PC can't be heating up my entire apartment to this degree.

Even if I open windows it just doesn't seem to help.

Our heater (we have an old school furnace heater) has a pilot light that stays lit because its hell to get it lit again but we've always done that. Two summers ago I could EASILY get my apartment down to 66° with my AC. So I'm not sure what is going on here. Since that factor hasn't changed but the indoor temp has I'm ruling that out as a control in my hypothesis.

Any advice? Nothing has really changed. Do I simply need better airflow? That seems crazy when nothing else has changed but I can try to get a fan that maybe exhausts a window or something in one of the main rooms.

Room-B USB Drive Round 2 -- What about doing a Hasbro Pulse/Matty Collector Interest-gauge preorder?

So I had a thought about the Room-B USB Drive. I've seen a good chunk of people unable to get it. Personally, when it went up for sale I was transitioning between jobs and completely missed out which is whatever. I did really want it but I get that I missed it.

But then I had a thought. When Rocco said he wasn't sure because of how expensive it was to produce...what about doing what Hasbro Pulse and others do?

What if they took preorders for a Room-B USB Drive and either made them to order OR did a heat check/gauge interest? State that they would need X amount of preorders for Round 2 to go through?

Essentially for those that don't know, some companies have announced larger/more expensive playsets for sale that need to hit a backer goal. I collect wrestling figures and two examples of this for me were from Mattel. They had goals for a WWF 90s playset with a ring, stage, and figures as well as a WCW 90s playset. The WWF one was succesful but the WCW one wasn't and people were simply refunded.

I know it may be a bit more complicated with their backend but if it were at all possible it might be an option?

If not then please just re-release the Mind Control hoodie thanks

Double Strike confusion! Some help!

Squall, SeeD Mercenary is my Commander for my main deck.

With ROUGH DIVIDE, any creature who attacks alone gains double strike until the end of the turn.

So let's say Squall attacks alone. 3/4 Double Strike. I'm attacking someone on the table who has 2 blockers. A 1/1 and a 2/2.

I declare Squall is attacking with Double Strike. They declare their blockers. I assign the damage, let's say I do the 2/2 and then the 1/1. But what happens here?

Would I kill the 2/2 and then the remaining damage goes to the 1/1 and then I strike again directly at the opponent?

My commander night group has always had trouble with Double Strike and I figured its time I get enough clarification

Following previous advice I followed on here, I filed despite not being able to pay my taxes and just received my bill. However, I have questions about payment plans!

Hello! I'm likely going to call the Tax Advocate line on Monday for some help but figured I'd ask here because a lot of my searching in the past was helpful.

I wasn't sure about what to do because I owed money (for the first time in my life). Its a lot and I wasn't going to be able to pay it right away. Surely I can pay it slowly but it'll be hard on me. I'm almost living paycheck to paycheck. I keep having stupid things come up. A pet emergency, a dead air conditioner, other stupid things that were needed urgently have kept me from getting any real savings since I started working my "big boy job" as an adult. Since I realized that I was going to owe on taxes I've made the necessary changes so this won't happen again but I still owe for 2025.

I got my bill (again shouts out to this subreddit because I was able to search and find the answers and learn how that works). I wanted to look and see how I can set up a payment plan. I see there's a 180 day plan and with my bill it averages about $450 a month which is steep. There's also options that are a bit longer term but they have setup fees. I'm not too sure I can do it in 6 months but maybe a little longer, but paying a $70 setup fee sucks.

Are there opportunities to waive that fee if I contact a tax advocate or is that just how it? I'm really just trying to find the best way to pay what I owe but I also don't want to be gouged with fees and interest when I'm already going to be (essentially) broke for the next bit of time while I pay this.

Replacing a dead window unit air conditioner. New one suggests drilling into my vinyl window but my old unit (which weighed more) simply sits on a bracket that my window closes on and seems to secure. Can I just plop the new one in on my old bracket?

Hey!

My old AC died after 15 years and it did it's job. The condenser went the other night and the repair job is more than the price of the unit's initial cost. I ended up buying a new window unit. It weighs a few pounds less and shares similar dimensions.

My old unit wanted to be secured with drilling and L-brackets to my vinyl window and I never did that. I used a flat support bracket and it worked fine for the last fifteen years. My new unit ALSO wants to be drilled into my vinyl window. The support of the window pressed down on the AC with the support bracket under it have held it there fine.

Do you guys think it's fine to simply take my dead AC out and place the new one in it's position without drilling in the new one? This is a rental property (even though I've been here since 2009) and my property owner is against drilling. Some people recommend tipping it for condensation reasons but I think they suggested that with my old one too and it was never an issue.

Midea 8000 BTU Window AC is probably what I'm going to get. I've been running a 12,000 BTU GE since 2015 and that brought my entire apartment down to 69-68 degrees easily but it died. If a 12,000 could do that, could an 8,000 simply bring me down to a normal temp?

Hello

I know these are probably all stupid questions and it comes down to "well how many sq ft is your apartment??" but my apartment is odd shaped and not all of the rooms are open. I live in a 900 sq ft three bedroom by myself and have an office and storage room (three bedroom bc it used to be me and my family but they're all gone). Only one bedroom door is open and my 12,000 BTU was in a central window and it cooled the entire house. On an 80~ degree day I'd get it down to 68 degrees no problem. The GE was a beast. The compressor died on it and now it simply runs fan so it's not enough.

I went out to the stores around me and everyone is out of the beasts. I could order a 12,000 BTU but I'm really considered a Midea 8,000 BTU. While my former AC would bring the temp down to extreme lows I don't think I need it that low. I really just want it to cool and dehumidify down a bit. I really don't want to wait for a 12,000 BTU, especially with my cat, so I think I may have to pull the trigger on an 8,000 BTU tomorrow. Any thoughts?

Also, has anyone bought the Midea 8,000 BTU Window AC (non-u version) that can give me some testimonials? I'm having trouble finding things about this specific model (MAW08S1JWT-B)

My 10 year old GE Air Conditioner just died, compressor isn't turning on and blowing cool-ish air from the fan. Feel like I need a new AC. I have a 20 year old "portable" HAIER air conditioner, but it hasn't been on in ten years, whats the worst that could happen?

Hello!

So yeah my GE AEZ12ASW1 air conditioner from 2015 just died. Not entirely sure what happened. The compressor seems like it kicks on but there's some kind of disconnect because it doesn't blow in icy cold air anymore. I'll swap from "Cool" to "Fan" and there's no difference so I'm fairly sure it's just the fan working now. Granted, it does seem like it's dehumidifying so I'm tempted to just let it do that...because it's swampy in here otherwise.

That being said, I tried to clean the filter but I'm not sure what else could be wrong with it.

I'm likely going to replace it and I think I have a few options in mind already but I won't be able to until next week so I'm going to spend a week without an AC (this is going to suck).

HOWEVER. We did have a "Portable Air Conditioner" before we got this air conditioner. I inherited it and my family is all gone so I can't confirm when we got it but I wanna say it was purchased around 2011. But I also don't think it's been turned on since 2015. It's a 9000 BTU Haier HPAC90E portable air conditioner so it wouldn't be as good as my 12,000 BTU GE was but I think sticking it in one room would be helpful but I don't know if it'll work. So I am wondering what the worst thing that could happen is? It's honestly just been sitting in a closet. If I plug it in and try to turn it on, are there any health hazards or could it catch fire or something?

Amazon JP shipped with SF Express, held up for a month, found out it was actually handed off to "UNIUNI" and I have never heard of them!

Hello!

Curious if anyone can tell me about this company UNIUNI. I've searched on here and found people having issues as well.

Essentially I ordered a Model Kit from Amazon back in December. It shipped via Amazon Japan through SF Express on April 25th or so, and then it was seemingly held up in NJ as of May 2nd.

Since it's nearly been a month I contacted SF Express to see what's happening and they told me that it was handed off to UNIUNI on May 2nd.

I had no way of knowing this otherwise because there's nothing on my tracking info that says that. So I check the tracking that they gave me for UniUni and it simply says Gateway transit out as of May 2nd. It hasn't moved since.

I tried to talk to UniUni but it got nowhere and a human never connected after an hour of waiting. Amazon offered me a refund straight away when I inquired about it through them. So I've got my money back and whatever. I'm just curious if the package is still in limbo and if people have received their packages through UniUni after a month of waiting

What's the deal with SF Express? Any opinions? Two recent parcels shipped through them seemingly lost

Hello

What's up with SF Express? I live in America and typically I'm used to the big four for deliveries... Amazon, USPS, FedEx, UPS. Occasionally DHL.

I've ordered two things that I guess were coming from Amazon Japan, back in December. They were model kits. Nothing crazy but they were expensive.

They shipped and never made it to me. They were lost in New Jersey and it never moved from Shipment in transit at US,NJ,Carlstadt,Carlstadt NJ, please wait in patience until eventually Amazon sent me a notification saying "Your package may be lost. I received a refund and reordered the product because it was cheaper now anyway (maybe doing me a favor I thought!)

Well, the same thing happened. It shipped on April 26th. As of May 2nd it was once again in New Jersey with the SAME message. It has not moved since and I'm predicting the same outcome: it's going to be deemed lost and never make it's way to me.

Is SF Express just BAD? What's going on here?

Another new player post, coming from XIV: I started a free trial directly from the website and adding to my existing Square account. If I purchase on Steam, will this complicate anything?

Hello!

I'm asking because I know the whole thing with PlayOnline and Square Accounts and everything can get murky.

I downloaded the exe from the FFXI website and made a free trial character that way a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it and want to buy it on the Steam sale right now. Will adding the Steam version of FFXI to my Square account complicate anything? I wanted to check before I drop the $10.

Old Shark Navigator Lift Away NV352 suddenly having issues where it hisses and stops functioning when upright. When I use the detachable hose it works flawlessly

Hi ya'll!

I'm at a loss for my vacuum. It's a purple Shark Navigator Lift Away NV352. It was my family's but now it's mine. I've done what I can to maintain it whenever I use it. Suddenly, the last few times I've used it, it'll start hissing incredibly loudly. I'm not sure why. It seems to be coming from the bottom.

When I use it upright, it'll start hissing after maybe 10 seconds of use. If I detach the hose and start using it that way, it works great. I've checked the filters, hoses, etc, and they seem clear. I'm not sure what in the bottom could be causing this. I've flipped it over and cut the strings that were wrapped around the brush but there's some sort of suction issue on the bottom. Any suggestions? I've had this forever and I'd love to keep using it...
