No Short Trips Monday

Don't give any pax the benefit of a short ride to their job Monday morning and afternoon unless it's paying over $7. Let them take the bus. Data proves they will NOT tip you.

The real flex isn't working the holidays. It's affording to take them off.

This year, I had enough saved up to take my kids out for fireworks and 4th of July food. We hung out at the pool, hit the beach, and had an absolute blast with friends.

The most important part of this gig is saving your money so you have the freedom to actually enjoy the holidays when they roll around. Happy 4th!

$0/hr Today and Zero Regrets: Who Else Funded Their Own PTO to Skip The Sloppy Holiday Weekend?

Just like most drivers chase '5' stars, they will be chasing their bills this holiday weekend.

To all who didn't save for a rainy day good luck out there and "I'll tip you in the app".

Punished me with a 4.88?

This is how a 4.88 rated driver dominates the Thursday night shift in Pinellas County FL with over a 75% tip rate.

Reached a dozen 1-stars today

Collected another 1-star and leveled up my 'Not polite' feedback. Still not backing down on my boundaries.

$12 Comfort Fare, 4.92 Rated Rider and Guest Ride.

The thick of Pinellas County rush hour.

This guy decided he was going to drag his feet to my car for over 2 minutes. Then we get to the red-light and he says I forgot my wallet as my hourly velocity for that trip was sinking below $18 per hour.

I made a U Turn dropped him off back at the original pick up spot, swiped to complete the trip, left, and found this 'Not Polite' badge as his parting gift. I'll gladly wear it.

This is proof sub par rated riders are entitled trash.

Cut The Dead Weight

A lot of drivers complain that you are only getting tipped 2 out of 10 rides.

By cutting out lower rated riders and working time blocks strategically it is possible to achieve a 40% tip rate.

The Anatomy Of The Disgruntled Uber Driver

The "Parking Lot Millionaire": Thinking about that impossible $33.00/hr while the actual dashboard reads "$0.00 EARNED" in an empty, scorching Florida lot.

"Data Phobia": The jagged red lightning strikes on the spreadsheets and calculators with "LOL DATA IS TRASH!" popping out.

"False Army Commander": The thought bubble where he is leading an army of imaginary, faceless drones shouting, "WE ALL HATE CHARTS!"

"Notification Stalker": (Most Acurate) The explosions of Reddit and Uber icons with "SIX NOTIFICATIONS IN 10 MINS!" all over them, pointing right to his phone while he aggressively types.

Stop chasing unicorns. Here is how you actually fund a Monday.

Option 1: Sit in parking lots missing your daily target chasing unicorns

Option 2: Take the best trips the market gives you

Don't Want to Tip? Great, Keep Walking Slowly to the Car.

Market: Tampa Bay, Fl

Sample Size: 489 Trips

Passengers who walk slowly to your car will not tip you. They can't find their shoes to get out the door so everyone knows they won't find their wallet.

Don't wait unless the upfront fare is high! Leave them stuck on your door handle and speed away!

From the bottom of my heart ❤️ 💙

Previously I thought 4.97 rated passengers were the sweet spot but look at this conservative variance. Thank you to the high-tier passengers keeping your ratings up and tipping thank you. You respect my time, you keep my wheels turning, and you tip. You are the only reason this market stays profitable. For the rest of the data pool… the chart is right there.

Can't find your shoes?

Trip number 450, 452, 454, 461, and 462 must have lost their shoes because all 5 of them had the same thing in common. They were all late and did not tip.

Maybe invest in a tracker to attach to them?

Can't find your shoes?

Market: Tampa Bay

Sample size: 430 trips

To shut down the 'small sample size' trolls before they even start: you can clearly see this is not just two bad rides.

It's absurd that curb readiness drops below 50%. The app sends you notifications all the way until we get to your door.

Why are you still not ready?

Are you panicking trying to find your shoes?

Do you take your time knowing that drivers get .19 cents per minute waiting for you?

I don't get it.

The 4.87 Pax Hostage Situation

It makes me want to jump out of my own car when a Pax can't read the room.

This 4.87 pax decided he was going to go on from one subject to the next while I obviously wasn't into it.

Why can't pax just shut up and let us make our money and go home?

It's not that hard.

The Tampa Bay Menace

Who has more 1 star petty reports than me? Who can beat this? I have some falling off in the next 50 rides to make room for more. (1 week at my pace)

Passengers think they have all the leverage but watch how fast this climbs back up to make room for more.

Argue sample size

Sample Size: 421 trips

Market: Tampa Bay, FL

If you are not going to be at the curb waiting when we show up at least tip your driver.

Why is it that lower tier passengers drag their feet in the morning and afternoon while higher tier passengers are waiting on us?

The bar is set.

Tip percentages of top rated Pax vs sub tier Pax in the Tampa Bay Market.

Look at that stark difference in tip percentages. Top tier passengers are your money makers.

Leave the sub 4.97 passengers on the curb for the rookies and go chase your money.

The math doesn't lie. Look at that sample size side by side. This is the Tampa Bay market.

Another report and 1 star for saying no to a 4.90 rated rider.

So this guy for the purpose of this post is trip number 396 because he doesn't deserve to be called by his name. I picked up this guy in the Tampa Bay FL market.

As you can see I log all my trips. (Yellow Ready at curb / Green Tips) For context he was not at the curb ready to go. One of the only rides in this dataset mind you for an 8$ fare at that.

Trip number 396 decided he was going to tell me not ask me that he was changing the destination. I told him no because the fare isn't adjusted for proper pay for the driver. He continued to say i was rude for not accepting the change.

This isn't the first rider that left a 1 star retaliatory rating. Days ago a 4.89 rated rider gave me a 1 star and a drop off too far report.

Enough is enough. Sub par passengers assume they hold all the cards but not for a driver who has done nearly 400 trips since 05/07. My rating will be fully recovered in nearly 100 trips from the last bit of petty reports. Keep them coming. 👍

Following up on my 4.89 "Dropoff too far" report: Look at the red and blue lines. This is why I enforce my boundaries.

Going back to that 4.89 rider who reported me for a 15-foot walk...

I wanted to see if enforcing strict boundaries with lower-rated pax actually hurts my money. I pulled the tip data from my 375-trip audit, and the math speaks for itself. Look at the charts.

Pay attention to the "Night" shift block on the right side. The top-tier riders are rock solid:

5.0 Stars (Black Line): 50.00% Tip Rate

4.95 - 4.99 Stars (Green Line): 50.00% Tip Rate

Now look at the massive cliff-dive for anyone rated under 4.95:

4.90 - 4.94 Stars (Red Line): Crashes to 22.73%

4.85 - 4.89 Stars (Blue Line): Tanks to 13.33%

At night, a 4.92 pax and a 4.98 pax will be waiting at the curb at roughly the same rate. But the second that rating dips below 4.95, your chance of getting a tip drops by more than half.

Drivers, stop breaking your back for the lower brackets. Statistically, these are the pax who expect premium service, file petty reports when you don't drop them exactly on their toes, and then leave you $0.00. Enforce your boundaries.

This is exactly what your rating says about your habits. Next time you wonder why a driver won't bend the rules, wait for you at an unscheduled stop, or drop you right on your toes, look at your rating.
