Most adult animated shows just aren't funny and I actually find many 'kids' cartoons better
For example, I found when I was watching shows like family guy, big mouth (god forbid), and many others; i just wasn't laughing. Sure there may have been a few scenes that I chuckled at, but never a full on laugh. But shows like gravity falls, adventure time, regular show, ect... actually got full on laughs. I think this is primarily because they dont rely as sex or violence as a punchline, but rather they craft jokes that are actually funny, and ones many adults can still enjoy.
