Interview outfits - summer friendly

I’ve done a couple interviews before but never for an actual job. I just turned 19 and have my first actual job interview this week. My only issue is I have no idea what to wear. In the past I’ve always worn a mens button down, men’s black dress pants, and men’s dress shoes. And that’s fine in cool weather but I’m in the deep south and it’s already pretty hot so the long sleeves are probably a no go this time.

Does anyone have any good interview outfits tips? Unfortunately I have a lot of curves that I really hate so I’m worried that an ill fitting polo or something like that will be my only option. I think the pants and shoes I have will be fine I’m just lost on a new shirt option. Any advice helps. Thanks!

Marching band questions?

I’m an incoming sax player and just have a few questions so I can prepare as much as possible.

  1. Are there any horn requirements? Found a cool instrument but idk if the band requires any specifics (brand/color/etc)

  2. Are there any good videos I can watch to practice marching technique? I know it’s not the modified straight leg I’m used to so I’d love to get a head start.

  3. What’s band camp like? I took a break from marching so I’m scared I’ll be super out of the loop.

If you can answer any of these please do. I’m kinda scared 😭 Thanks!

Selmer La Voix 2 or P. Mauriat tenor sax for marching band?

Originally i found this really nice cannonball but it just won’t be suitable for marching which is my main concern (because I can’t afford 2 horns). My other 2 options were a selmer la voix 2 and a P. Mauriat. Has anyone marched these? If so how’d they hold up? I wanna get something that can survive marching band but also concert band. Thanks!

Never played on a cannonball. What’s your experience?

Looking for a tenor sax to march in my college band and found a very nice Cannonball Raven big bell series. The dude has a video of him playing it and it sounds great.

I don’t wanna drive 3 hours and buy it if it’ll end up being a money pit. So does anyone have experience with these horns? Are they worth it?

I wanna talk to my parents about my mental health. Where do I start?

I’ll keep things general but I (f19) know I definitely have some stuff going on mental health wise. I’ve dealt with it for a long time and in the past few months it’s hit me that this is no longer okay and I need help.

I want to get a mental health assessment done. I know my mom is probably the only person that’d be willing to help me financially because my family is the “taking care of your mental health isn’t really important” kind.

My only issue is, how do I bring it up? It’s hard to talk to her alone (I have 2 younger siblings) and she doesn’t have much free time before she goes to work. (She’s only awake from about 2pm-8pm before she gets ready and leaves for work) And I just have a really really really hard time talking to people, but especially her about personal things.

Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks.

My friend is having a baby! 🎉

One of my good friends just posted that she’s expecting a baby in January. I love her so much. She’s been a really close friend for about 4 years and I think she’ll be an amazing mom.

I’m posting this here because I have ocd and have some really irrational fears about opening up about things to my family. For some reason I just am in constant fear of judgement so I’ve lied to them for as long as I can remember about having friends. One less thing to judge me on I guess. Anyway I’m dying to tell someone the good news so I thought here would be an okay place.

I definitely wanna get my friend and the baby some gifts when she gives birth so if anyone has any ideas I’m all ears!! Thanks for listening!

I’ve just been getting into creative writing after I took a creative writing class last semester. And I was just wondering, for those who don’t submit your pieces for publishing, what do you do with them? Do you send them to friends and family? Do they just grow dusty on your hard drive?

I’ve had a rough time finding some pants that’ll hold on for more than a few weeks. I thrifted a pair of vintage wranglers that lasted me about a year before my thighs rubbed some aggressive holes in the crotch of the pants. I thrifted a newer pair which lasted me about a month and a half and I just got a brand new pair of the same wrangler jeans that lasted literally 3 weeks. I got an old navy pair about a year ago that ripped within weeks.

Does anyone have any brand recommendations?? I’ve been almost exclusively wearing various pairs the wrangler camo and carpenter jeans for about a year and a half but the new ones just aren’t doing it for me quality wise. I’ve only been staying with this brand because I can’t find a cut from another brand that I feel fits my body better. I’d love any recommendations/cuts of jeans that are more durable. Thanks!!

In August I start my first college season. I’m a rising sophomore but didn’t march last year so I really don’t know what to expect. We’re in the deep south so I know it’s gonna be HOT and a lot of work.

As bad as it sounds I haven’t done much physical activity in the past 3 years (was drum major for 2 and took a year off) so I’m incredibly out of shape. Does anyone have any work out ideas that could help me get it together before the season starts? Any routines that were easy to commit to? Any advice helps. Thanks!

Just saw a video with a 3 legged horse and everyone is saying it’s super unethical because they can’t support their weight on 3 legs and will be in lots of pain. But hypothetically, why can’t you just give the horse a prosthetic?
