Thin negatives

Update: thank you for the help and answers, I have ordered new developer.

Hi,

I'm in a bit of a bind, and can't figure out where things went wrong.

I mixed up a new develop (5L of XT-3), a new Stop (Ilford) and a new Fixer (Ilford).

Some how along the line, something started going wrong - my negatives are turning up thin (blank'ish).

The snip test (which I always do as I only develop 1-2 times a month), show that everything is fine.

It looks over developed, but I am not sure. The edge signing is partly visible, so are the photos. Ilfords troubleshooting document point in different directions and I am lost.

Edit: addition

Kentmere Pan 200, in XT-3 stock, at 19.5C for 7:17 minutes. Rotation, where I subtract 10% from the hand processing time. I'm using B's processor.

Edit: addition 2

Loaded a canister up with 5 frames, used a different camera (Nikon F3) and ended up with a fully blank stripe. See added photo.

Edit: addition 3.

It was suggested that it is caused by a bad developer, I've ordered a new package. Then I'll see if the problem indeed was a bad developer. Otherwise I'll look at the fixer.

Jollylook, shipment is now September 2026

Last update says: Estimated shipping: September 2026

I feel like using strong words, but it is now +12 months and they still does not have a product they can ship. I am starting to feel that they are pulling us by the nose and will continue to do so.

I wanted to ask for them to return my money, but I still hope that they eventually in a few years will ship a product and not just keep our money and spend it one something useless.

My first IR photo

Nikon FA, 50mm f/2, Rollei IR 400@400, Hoya R72

3-5min pre-wash, XT-3, 1+1, 12min/20c, agitation, slowly the first minute, then 4 turns per minute.

My first (actually second) IR photo. I switched between the R72 and a Red29 filter throughout the roll - I am not seeing much IR with the Red29 filter...

Cleaning bottles and containers

Hello,

How do you clean your bottles and other containers, before you mix a new batch of chemistry?

I just finished my first 5l of XT-3 and would like to clean my bag-in-a-box before poring in a new batch, but with what (except for warm water)?

Thanks.

Edit: thanks, I'll continue to use water.

America in Crisis

I saw a post about this book a while back, as I'm a sucker for this kind of books (period, b/w), I started looking. And lo and behold, I found a used copy for 26usd (incl. shipping) - I think I was (very) lucky.

M10 shutter replacement program page

Hello,

I just got billed 2900€ + vat. to have my M10 upgraded to an M10P - which is the going price (no problem with that). But then I got the camera back the only thing which was done was a shutter replacement and some adjustments.

There is no new top-plate, no spirit level and no touch screen - I could live happily ever after with it as it is, but not when I pay for the full package.

I know that there used to be a page on leica-camera.com which listed two options: small package at around 1300-1400€ and the big package - and it listed what would be done.

I can't find it - does anyone have a link ?

The only list I can find is the one from Mr. Leica (https://mrleica.com/leica-m10p-review/).

(it will make it easier for my dealer if they have an official page to point at).

I needed the shutter as the original shutter was dripping oil on the sensor and no one would give me any guaranties that would be enough with a shutter clean (which is 1300€+vat).

Thanks.
