My review of corporate after 3 weeks

Voetsek, hai wena VOETSEK.

Some of these people need to get laid, smoke a gwaai, get a life, something idk. I only just started and I’ve been half an hour early to every day of work for the first 3 weeks and today I had car troubles, I’ve had to deal with this regte poes 3 times but I had a group meeting with her and I was a whole 🥁 3 minutes late. She wanted to email my supervisor about it. Is she okay? There were some things that were extremely unclear in the presentation and even my teammates were unsure about it but I’m the only one who decided to ask, when I did ask, she was firstly condescending, then she proceeded to talk in circles and not actually answer the question. We were also taken through some new software which me and some other new employees have never worked with, when we asked questions what happens? People are condescending and wanna talk down to us. And (no offence) it’s always people that are in their 50-60s.

To fellow young male South Africans, do you find it difficult to make/maintain friendships?

So, one thing I’ve been struggling with a lot as of late is making friends, especially with those of the same gender. I’ve never really struggled to make friends with girls/women as I feel they’ve always been much easier to talk to (for myself at least, in a platonic sense). Now with other dudes, ever since the time I was in High School, as ironic as it sounds. It feels like guys are cliquey, they gossip and will look down on you for having xyz and are prone to group politics. Not to say women don’t have those issues.

My whole thing is now that I’m older, I’m not at school/uni anymore. Most of the extra curricular activities I do are very much single-person orientated and don’t have large communities. Where and how do I make friends with other dudes? It’s not the same as seeing someone you think is pretty and asking for their number because how do you even judge that?

What would be your advice to me as someone who is struggling to make friends with other guys?

A question for private bankers/insurance brokers/FAs

Especially for those working in larger companies. How is the industry for you, how was your career at the start, does the stigma attached to your job affect you, and do you struggle getting clients?

Renewing a license disc

Hey everyone!

So I am attempting to renew a license disc for a family member. The license disc is in arrears and they have told me that they have outstanding fines, however the amount they have told me they have in fines is quite high but when checking on the NATIS website the infringement notices they have is significantly lower than what they’ve told me. If I pay the infringement notices and arrears will they be able to get their license disc printed or only the MVLX certificate?

Codex App not running at all

Hey everyone!

So I just installed the desktop app of Codex, and for some reason the app does not launch. At all. There is no crash report, no launcher logs, absolutely nothing. I’m not sure how to fix this or where to even start.

I’m so lost and I don’t know what to do

I genuinely feel like my life is over and I have no future, and I’ve been having some very, very dark thoughts.

I’m 24, I just graduated last year, I was really really excited about this year and I thought wow it’s gonna be an awesome year. I had a ton of money saved up to start a business and towards the end of last year I had already begun the process of starting it. It was all going relatively well into this year and I’m fortunate enough to say Allah has been providing me with enough to survive. I am still staying at home as is the norm for many people in my age bracket. I was, and am still in the process of searching and searching for a job but my country has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world (46%).

But this year my mother decided to take my inheritance and all the money that my father left behind for us and invest it with some less than trustworthy characters. I advised her again and again not to do it but she did it anyway. An amount to the tune of $210 000.

And we haven’t seen a dime since. Now I’ve been supporting her and my household with my savings, all the money that was meant to be for my future, my business, and I’m essentially broke. I have no job prospects, no family to help me, and I feel completely helpless. My fridge is empty, soon to have no electricity, I just feel well and truly hopeless.

Honestly what do I do?

Epic games infinite update and restart loop

I’ve been stuck in the infinite update and restart loop since yesterday and I have no idea how to fix it. I updated my game yesterday, launched it once and it was all good. Closed it then when I came back to play again it was on the infinite update and restart loop. I’ve done all the usual things. Even gone as far as to completely uninstall everything and reinstall but it’s still got me stuck in that stupid loop.

What the hell do I do, anyone else facing a similar issue since the update?

Should carousel posts have text

Hey everyone!

So I’ve seen some very text heavy carousel posts which do well and I tried it out and haven’t gotten the greatest results.

I’ve scheduled some posts with the product on an actual model and I’m wondering if it would have better results if I added any text onto the post or had the picture as an editorial style.

Any feedback is welcome!

Guys. Support local, you don’t know how much it actually means

Hello my fellow South Africans!

This week was an utterly crap week, like UTTERLY crap for me. I’ve been in such a terrible financial situation, still am, but I’m pushing on and trying. And today, some random South African, without even knowing it, she made my day. How? Because she placed an order, and I am going to pour my heart out in fulfilling that order.

Guys, before you buy that expensive H&M top, or over a thousand rand on Levi’s jeans. See if there’s a quality local place that you could support. And I know a lot of them can be pricey but generally there’s a reason for it, startups aren’t cheap, but more often than not the quality is better. At least I can say that for my case. Yet even with my first order I went the extra mile and offered the client a discount.

My whole point is, that big corporation doesn’t care if you support them. You could make your fellow South African’s whole week just by giving them your business.

That’s all!

I miss my car💔

Goddamn.

I miss my car. I’m currently driving a nothing. And it is HELL. I was driving an old, beat up, 2004 Corolla, I used to get roasted because it was old, beat up, and automatic. I did not give two shits though because that was MY car and I bought it cash with my own money. But then because some doos decided that it was a good idea to skip the robot and crash into my car, and wreck it, I must sit like this. FOK man. And now because my family makes dom financial decisions money that should have gone to my car, goes to them. LIKE ARE YOU JAS.

I miss my car, I miss late night drives, l miss my beater.

How do you feel about what’s happening between locals and foreigners?

So unless you’re living under a rock, I’m sure you know there’s been a lot of hostility toward foreigners/illegal foreigners specifically lately. Protests outside embassies, even citizens “arresting” people. I’ve seen some very hectic things where cops drag and beat illegal foreigners and don’t even take them into custody, just leave them on the side of the road.

It feels like every couple of years this happens and then goes away. The reason for the hostility this time around being the unemployment rate, which FOK am I frustrated with. And yes I am fully on board with a proper legal immigration process needing to be followed, and it is 100% wrong that MANY people have not followed it. I feel that so much time, energy, and effort is being directed towards the wrong people.

Illegal immigrants are wrongdoers, yes. But why are they wrongdoers? Because they are simply trying to survive, same as us South Africans. Why are we not protesting US/EU nationals who come, disrupt the local economy and overstay by god knows how long and buy up properties in Cape Town?

The true people who are at fault here is the people in power, the people who have the ability to put in the necessary safe guards to stop illegal immigration, to improve the unemployment rate, to actually improve the quality of life but consistently choose to line their pockets instead. And what do we as South Africans do?

“It is what it is”

Loadshedding? Buy a generator/install solar
Water cuts? Buy a Jojo/Get a borehole

Bitter with the world lowkey

The government can fokoff.
The tertiary institutions can fokoff because you did not help me find a job.
Big corporations can fokoff.
The unemployment rate can fokoff.
The job search can fokoff.
My family can fokoff especially.
My fake friends can fokoff.
The state of unfriendliness among people can fokoff.
The guy who wrote off my car can fokoff.
My failing business can fokoff.
My unemployment can fokoff.
My mental state can fokoff.

The general state of the world can genuinely just fokoff.
