I met Rudy 8 years ago on the first day that I ever went to my girlfriend’s house. He was her mother’s pup and his face was the first thing to greet me at her door that day. Ever since then, he’s been my best buddy (don’t let my own dog hear that, she’s my bestest buddy of course) and such a goofy, loving, warm soul. When my girlfriend and I got a house of our own, her mom demanded that I still stop by to see him, and of course I did weekly.

In the past year he started to slow down a bit, which was chalked up to age by the vet. He was otherwise happy and healthy. Then, two days ago he fell while getting on a couch and developed a limp. When his leg started to swell in the morning, his mom asked my girlfriend and I to take him to the vet as she was unable to lift all 110 lbs of his mutt butt into the car. We thought, at worst, we were looking at an x-ray, but Rudy boy was diagnosed with bone cancer. They determined that it had already spread to his lungs. His mom had to make the decision to ease his suffering, and he passed in her arms last night after we all said our goodbyes. I snuck him some chicken before the vet came in.

Missing this beautiful boy, hold your horse-dogs a little closer tonight. (Seriously he was the biggest dog I’ve ever known personally.)

Of course .22 is quiet, but I had never experienced suppressed subsonics with a larger round before I got this Marlin kitted out, so it surprised me.

With heavy subsonic .44 magnum loads, the disconnect between recoil and muzzle blast messes with my brain a bit. .44 special’s a hoot as well.

It’s obscenely quiet with CCI Quiets and Clean-22s. I’ve been teaching my nephew how to shoot with it lately. Bit of a leap forward from the single shot Pappy taught me with!

Twinkified the super duty

Pretty much zero added gas to the face/out the ejection port compared to unsuppressed, just as solid as any of the legacy heavy duty suppressors I’ve tried, and sounds pretty great on my 16” AR.

I appreciated that Capitol Armory let me knock a few bucks off and order it without the ASR on it because I immediately threw on Comstock’s Charlie adapter, too.
