Other than waiting on my suppressor to get out of jail, all I’ve got left on the to-do list is a stock wrap
OCL Titanium on an AR-22. This thing was my intro to suppressors this year.
It’s obscenely quiet with CCI Quiets and Clean-22s. I’ve been teaching my nephew how to shoot with it lately. Bit of a leap forward from the single shot Pappy taught me with!
I forgot just how chonky my Razor was until I tried out this red dot
Twinkified the super duty
The Velos LBP has been great, I’m glad I went with it as my first rifle can.
Pretty much zero added gas to the face/out the ejection port compared to unsuppressed, just as solid as any of the legacy heavy duty suppressors I’ve tried, and sounds pretty great on my 16” AR.
I appreciated that Capitol Armory let me knock a few bucks off and order it without the ASR on it because I immediately threw on Comstock’s Charlie adapter, too.
I’m sure phone vids are mostly useless, but here’s my Velos LBP on a 16” AR.
I must resist the urge to go full space cowboy with this thing
Zoey makes it difficult to leave for work in the morning
I’m having a hell of a time choosing a can for my .44 Magnum lever gun.
Everything I’m reading into seems to base recommendations mostly on .44 Special performance, but I paid for the whole Magnum so I’m gonna use the whole Magnum 99% of the time.
Should I just go with what works great on .45-70 supers and hope for the best? Seems to be much more data/info out there on that application compared to .44 Mag.
Zoey did not appreciate the garbage truck outside being so loud today
Just picked up my first lever gun. Marlin 1894 SBL in .44 Mag. Now I need to get a .44 wheelgun to match.
Mac and Charlie’s arguments are a bit lower-energy these days
Just a little update on Mac, he’s not quite as chatty these days but he’s in good health and his fur is almost fully regrown.
A non-K length steel can on the end of a 16” barrel isn’t anywhere near as unwieldy as I was led to believe
Having a .22 upper for my rifle has been great, except for level of filth it’s leaving in my fire control group. I’m thinking it’s gonna sprout into a second rifle soon.
First time out with the Velos LBP was a 95% success
It’s my first and only rifle can so far, so I’m biased, but I think it’s sweet. Sent two shots without ear pro just to get a feel for it and it wasn’t bad at all. Not “safe” but tolerable. As a bystander it sounded about the same.
The 5% that wasn’t a success -
1.) Using the wrong buffer weight, I went from a URGI to a 16” Super Duty upper and didn’t change out my light buffer weight. Had a bit more gas coming back than I expected with a low back pressure can.
2.) Forgetting some kind of suppressor pouch or cover. Thankfully I was camping and had my trusty 600° potholder and a ranger band.
