Acrylic Sourcing

According to the place i ordered this from, these two acrylics are identical, and only the masking is different. Even though they are different colors, cut completely differently and engrave completely differently. The image i posted is of both, side by side, same settings, same machine, printed at the exact same time. Needless to say i wont be using them any longer, but i need to find a new place. does anyone have any recommendations of suppliers who carry Marga Cipta matte black?

Laser cleaning.

Hi all,
I’m deep cleaning my glowforge for the first time. Should I do anything more than vacuuming and blowing with compressed air? Any tips would be appreciated

Solved my dust problem!

I was tired of the mess from engraving slate so I made this enclosure. 2 bucks worth of scrap and 5 for the flange. Heres a picture of the finished product

Mini5 pro examples

I’m looking for examples of what’s possible with the mini 5 pro, but all I’m finding is tutorials. Can anyone provide me with a link to a finished product that they produced with one? I want to see what’s possible before I go down the rabbit hole and try making one myself.

When I heard Xfinity was finally moving into the area, I was READY. Like “take my money immediately” ready. Around here, switching from RCN/Astound/Whatever-Rebrand-They’re-On-This-Week feels less like choosing a provider and more like escaping Alcatraz.

So last week a sales rep comes to my door and tells me the time has come. Excellent. I grab her card and tell her I just want to double check with my wife before signing up. Easy sale. Fish. Barrel. Harpoon.

The very next day, another sales rep shows up. I tell him I already spoke with someone and planned to sign up through her. He assures me they “work as a team” and are salaried, so I can just finish the process with him.

Fine. Whatever. Sign me up.

I complete everything and immediately get a text confirming my installation date for Friday the 8th.

The original rep contacts me the next day and I explain what happened. Her response?

“We don’t work together.”

Cool cool cool. So I got hustled into buying the thing I was already fully planning to buy anyway 🤪

Then the NEXT day my doorbell goes off again.

A THIRD sales rep.

At this point I’m expecting Xfinity reps to start emerging from the woods like NPCs in Skyrim. I ignored the door.

Then, about an hour later, I get another text saying my installation is now scheduled for the 28th.

Enter: the AI chatbot.

I ask what happened and it confidently informs me my appointment was ALWAYS scheduled for the 28th. I send a screenshot of the confirmation for the 8th and the bot basically goes:

“Ah yes… THAT 8th.”

Then asks if I’d like to keep that appointment instead.

I tell it yes, please reschedule me back to the 8th. It replies:

“OK! I’ll do that!”

For science, I immediately open a brand new chat and ask what date my installation is.

“THE 28TH.”

At this point I’m no longer chatting with AI. I’m arguing with a gaslighting smoke detector.

Eventually I manage to get a human. I think. Briefly. They move my appointment to Saturday instead. Fine. Whatever. This nightmare is almost over.

Right before the chat closes, I quickly type:
“Also please call off the salespeople.”

Too late. Human gone.

But the message still goes through… and another “human” instantly joins the chat who was VERY obviously not human based on the way it responded. It felt like being transferred directly into the consciousness of a malfunctioning toaster.

If literally anything else goes sideways during this process, I don’t care how bad my current provider is. I’m staying put out of spite alone.
