*UPDATE: I’m not doing it. After looking into it more and reading the comments, it’s not worth the risk. I had no idea and I’m sure glad I asked and researched because it absolutely above my experience and ability.

Hi-I have cleaned this particular home for just over a year. A little background…they are hoarders and don’t have great hygiene. The owner was very embarrassed having me in the home on the first visit, they are aware that the house has gotten bad. No judgement from me, I know it’s important to provide this service. The owners are very kind and pays well. I’ve only cleaned the main and upper floors, and at the last visit the owner asked if I would look at the basement and quote her. It’s a lot. They foster cats and one has urinated all over the carpet. There is also rat poop, quite a bit. It’s also very messy. I love cleaning and don’t mind doing this as long as 1) it is safe and 2) it pays very, very well. I would need to invest in very specific cleaners for this, and because of how long the chemicals need to set before being used, it would likely take me 2 trips. I’m learning all about rat poop and how it must be picked up by gloved hands, not a vacuum or broom, to prevent the spread of disease.

Question: should I do this? Is it safe? What would I even charge? I’m in a HCOL area, I’ve cleaned 1-2 times a month here for over a year, the owner is aware of how poor the home condition is and is always very grateful after I come clean.

UPDATE: I went back to the store, told them what I did, and paid for my stuff. They were nice about it. Feeling relieved! Also, it wasn’t a cart. I walked in with my Aldi reusable bag, and walked out with a few items in it. Still felt like a criminal! Glad I went back and the folks at the store were kind of :)

was at the dog park today (North Park). A man with a camera told me that he worked for the newspaper and had gotten a good photo of me and my dog. He asked for my name and email, and my dogs name. I didn’t question it. Now I’m freaking out. He wasn’t wearing anything with the papers brand on it, just a guy with a camera and notepad. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? I’m worried I gave my information to a scammer or creep.
