I am a Chinese American and I love the USA, AMA.

I am a 36 year old Chinese American living in NY, I came to this country when I was 12 to be with my mom who came earlier a few years. Not long ago me and my mom reached financial independence together by helping each other out. Such as we both had income, mom’s income was used to sustain us and my income was used for savings to pay off mortgage. We own a home together now and own 2 cars, no debt of any sort. I have made a good chunk of change in investments which should set me up nicely for early retirement. I am a millionaire now and so is she. I come to love this country because we were able to do all this not because we are smarter than any body else, but because in USA money is just easy, and the system is set up in a way that if you know what to do, you can easily get rich yourself no problem. Along with all the personal liberties USA comes with like gun rights and speech rights I find the living situation USA is the closest thing to heaven there is, there is no where else I rather be than here. I really come to love this country. God Bless y’all and the USA.

Tableau job market must be very good

hello all, i am a BI developer based out of NY, i have been working in Power BI for the past 5 years, just now my contract had ended so i went out to the job market again and some how snagged a tableau development role with only few years of tableau development experience back almost a decade ago. i asked gemini which role paid more around the tri state area PBI or tableau, gemini told me tableau paid a little more, if it was the case there were alot of supply of developers for roles the salaries would have been lower but instead its actually higher, all of this informs me that the Tableau developer job market must be pretty good right now, most likely better than PBI.

I lied on my resume and landed a low six figure job just now, AMA

So I make up experience on my resume and pretend to have 15 years of experience when I have just 5 or so. Landed a low six figure job, they are so lousy with background checks they didn’t even check where I went to school nor any job references, they just wanted criminal history and a drug screen. Lucky for me. This is how you get ahead in life, lie and cheat ladies and gentlemen.

Timing the market

You are not suppose to time the market but I am tempted. QQQ YTD growth is around 15%, it’s a little overgrown for just 5 months of this year. I full well expect qqq has more room to fall, any where from 1 to 5% it could fall further. What y’all think?

I was able to launch my white collar career because I lied on my resume, AMA.

i graduated college in 2012 with two bachelors degree, one in applied math, and the other in economics. i was unable to find a job for many years so i decided to drive for Uber in NYC. later in 2018ish i decided i wanted to go into tech and decided to learn to code on my own, for a little while i learned tableau, SQL, and python, and decided to look for a job in 2019. once again i could not find anything, but some how a training program called me up and said if i can pass their technical interview they will train and place me into big companies to work. so i studied for a weekend, and took their interview and manage to pass. they told me the training starts in april of 2019, and in PA. I lived in NY at that time so i drove there, they had a guest house where all the other trainines stayed at, so i stayed at the guesthouse with the other traininees, most of them were either chinese or indian. in the training program, which lasted 3 months, they covered topics such as SQL, Power BI, Azure, and SSRS. i particularily liked Power BI, they covered power bi in 2 weeks. then after training phase, we go on to what is called the marketing phase, they make your resume and say for me i had 7 years of experience as a BI developer, 3 years of experience in Power BI. they trained us in what is called scenarios, meaning they say you worked for Capital one bank, and what work you did there, obviousely i did not, all of it was fabrication. then they put my resume out there, very quickly i received interview calls as every employer wants experienced candidates, i nailed an interview for power bi developer in NYC, what is amazing is that few weeks ago i did not even know what power bi was and here i was getting an offer that was meant for an experienced power bi developer. just like that for the past 6 years i worked in power bi for various companies using my resume with fake experiences on them. this is the story of how i launched my white collar career by lying on my resume.

i dont believe it is morally wrong to lie on resume in america.

first thing is first, if you ever did lie on resume, ABSOLUTELY TELL NO ONE, it can only hurt you and not help you.

second i am not talking about lie on resume like saying you graduated law school when you did not, that kind of lie can actually get you into legal trouble. the kind of lie on resume i am talking about is saying the past 10 years you worked as a data analyst when you were just an uber driver, or saying you have 10 years of Python programming experience when you didn't know what programming was 3 months ago. this kind of lie is not illegal, and i am here to show you it is not morally wrong.

the first issue i have to raise here is employer job requirements, when they say they need some one who has 10 years of experience other wise you cant work here. that is complete bullshit, i have seen many people come out of a training program for 3 months, then say they have 10 years of Python experience, then go on one of those interviews where the employers explicitly says we NEED some one of 10 years of python experience, then this candidate who 3 months ago didn't know what python was crushes the interview and come out with an offer, which means this candidate was the best. this means the employers job requirements are usually all lies and bullshit. they lie about shit they dont need, you can lie about shit you dont have, perfectly fair.

the second issue i have to raise here is the other candidate problem. if you dont lie on resume, does that mean other people wont lie on their resume? of course not, dont be naive. if an employer has certain limited amount of bandwidth to interview people, and every one else lies and you dont, you just wont get a shot to interview at all even though you may be more qualified than those people who lied. so you basically have to lie to even have a chance to compete.

here is the summary, basically, dont show up to a mask party where every one has a mask on and then you attend with your real face. i wish we lived in a place where we dont have to lie, but unfortunately this is what we got. so lie away, but stay out of legal trouble.
