2018 Honda City (Manual Petrol) - service every 6 months really necessary?

Hi everyone,

I own a 2018 Honda City, manual petrol, and my service center recommends getting the car serviced twice a year (every 6 months), even though my yearly running isn't very high.

Total KMs in 7.5 years - 75k approx

Honestly, it feels a bit excessive and unnecessarily expensive, especially when the car is running perfectly fine.

A few questions for fellow Honda owners:

  • Do you actually service your Honda City every 6 months, or do you only follow the 10,000 km interval?
  • Has anyone faced issues by servicing only once a year if the mileage is low?
  • Does skipping the 6-month service affect reliability or is it mainly a way for dealerships to generate revenue?
  • If you use a trusted independent garage instead of Honda ASC after warranty, has your experience been good?

Would love to hear from long-term Honda City owners, especially those with 2017-2020 petrol manual models.

Thanks!

Best Gurgaon Real estate under 1.5 CR ( starting somewhere )

Hi Gurgaon,

Looking for some objective guidance from people who understand the Gurgaon market well.

Budget is around ₹1.4 Cr and my goal is a mix of capital appreciation, rental potential, and eventual self-use after a few years.

I’ve already explored a fair bit across Gurgaon including Sector 47, Sector 77, Sector 84, Sector 57, close areas to gurgaon like Chhatarpur, and a few builder-floor options in old Gurgaon.

Given this budget, am I missing any stronger options in Central Gurgaon, old gurgaon new builder floor options or Golf Course Extension belt? Would you consider builder floors in Sector 57, Smart World Orchard in Sector 61, or even something around Gwal Pahari/Mandi as better risk-reward plays?

Interested in hearing from people who have actually invested or lived in these areas rather than broker perspectives.

Thanks!

First Home Purchase - Need help deciding between two - (Sector 77) and (Sector 47), Gurgaon - End Use + Investment Perspective

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of buying my first property in Gurgaon and have narrowed my options down to two very different choices.

Would especially love to hear from residents, owners, tenants, brokers, or people familiar with both micro-markets.

A little context:

Age: 28
Buying with a long-term horizon (5-10 years)
Likely won’t move in immediately and may rent the property out for around a year before shifting
Future self-use with my wife after marriage is also a major consideration
Office is in central Gurgaon

Option 1: Winter Hills, Sector 77
2 BHK (~1342 sq ft)
Purchase price: ~₹1.37-1.38 Cr
Newer society (around 4 years old)
Better layout and larger balconies
Better overall society feel, walking spaces, and amenities
Construction quality and common areas seem better
Public bank financing available at ~7.5-7.8%
Expected rent: ~₹30-32k/month

Concerns:
Farther from central Gurgaon
Toll issue on the route
More dependent on future infrastructure and area development
Public transport/metro connectivity is weaker

Option 2: Uniworld Gardens 2, Sector 47
2 BHK (~973 sq ft)
Purchase directly from my aunt (family-to-family transaction) around 1.3 Cr for raw flat
Similar effective purchase cost after renovation
Flat is currently bare/unfinished, so I can renovate it to my liking
Renovation expected: ~₹5-7 lakh
Expected rent: ~₹35-38k/month including maintenance
Upcoming metro station expected very close to the society
Established central Gurgaon location with markets, hospitals, offices, etc. nearby

Concerns:
Older society
Maintenance and common area quality not as good
Smaller layout and balconies
Less premium feel compared to Winter Hills
Construction is older

The dilemma:
My heart prefers Winter Hills because it feels like the better home and society.

My father recommends Uniworld because:
Better location
Better rental demand
Potential metro-led appreciation
Easier resale/liquidity
Family transaction with lower execution risk

If you had to choose between these two at roughly similar acquisition cost, what would you pick and why?

Would especially appreciate opinions on:

Long-term appreciation: Sector 47 vs Sector 77

Rental demand over the next 5-10 years

Whether the upcoming metro materially changes the Uniworld equation

Whether the superior lifestyle of Winter Hills is worth sacrificing central location

Any first-hand feedback on maintenance, resident quality, water issues, construction quality, or society management in either project

Thanks in advance. Looking for genuine insights rather than broker perspective

Seltos vs victoris for a family car

Need advice from car enthusiasts and long-term owners.
We’re looking to buy a family SUV for my father (55 years old), based in Greater Noida. Usage is relatively low, mostly Delhi-Greater Noida runs, occasional highway trips to nearby cities, and the occasional family road trip. We typically keep our cars for 7-8 years, so long-term ownership experience matters more than short-term excitement.

The two options we’re considering are:
Suzuki Victoris VXI (Petrol Manual)
Kia Seltos HTE(O) / HTK (Petrol Manual)

We’re only considering petrol manual variants of both cars.

My understanding so far:

Suzuki Victorious VXI
Better fuel efficiency
Lower maintenance costs
New product with modern packaging
Practical and value-focused ownership experience
Strong service network and expected reliability

Kia Seltos HTE(O) / HTK
More premium feel and road presence
Better exterior design (subjective)
Slightly more aspirational product overall
Proven platform with years of market feedback
Potentially lower mileage and higher maintenance costs over time

Things that matter most to us:
Reliability over 7-8 years
Comfort for a 55-year-old driver
Ease of driving in NCR traffic
Highway stability and confidence
Service experience
Resale value
Overall ownership satisfaction

Mileage is a factor, but not the deciding factor since annual running will be moderate.

If you were buying for your father and planning to keep the car for 7-8 years, which one would you choose and why?

Would also love to hear from owners about:
Real-world city/highway mileage
Service costs after 3-5 years
Ride quality on highways
Any niggles, rattles, or issues that appeared with age

Price is not a concern right now.

Looking forward to honest opinions from people who have driven or owned either of these cars.
