The Demiurge (a work in progress)
A project i've been working on for awhile now.
Best mass produced systems: Lettuce Grow, Gardyn, etc. For wife's upcoming B-Day present.
I know a lot of people here make their own systems, however I'm looking to buy one online from Lettuce Grow, Gardyn, or some other maker. My wife wants one for her birthday, so the wife gets what she wants. We currently live in a 3 bed room apartment ~1500 sqft, it will live either in out living room or in out exercise room. From your experience which systems are best?
Music is a frequency that tunes your spirit.
Most of the cast was too dense to really understand/hear what Marc and Mona were saying regarding the India Arie conversation.
Love Island: Aniya & KC
Not a topic I every thought I’d post about, but after getting into this show with my wife, I’ve come to learn a lot of black men watch as well. I’m coming here because I want to hear other black men’s perspective on the KC v Aniya situation. I’m particularly bothered by it because I’m seeing ppl act like this young black man is the devil incarnate, and have yet to hear a reasonable explanation as to what he did that was so wrong. If you’re watching, what do you think?
I hope they’re responsible in how they talk about the Anthony case tomorrow.
I know this is a sensitive conversation, but it needs to be discussed in and INFORMED and nuance manner. I'm already concerned about how this conversation is gonna go because on today's Patreon when they reacted to the news in real time Ish was spewing a bunch of misinformation as if it were fact. Ish said that Karmelo had been bullied by these kids in the past...not true, he had never met them before. Then he said Karmelo got jumped...that's not true. This amount of misinformation is concerning to me because its not just Ish, he represents a whole community of ppl in our community who believe they are informed on topics, and then make improper conclusions based upon false information. If we don't have the right information, then we will take the wrong lesson lesson away from this situation. The lesson is not "theyre racist", "look at how they do our black boys", these things are true, but largely irrelevant in this case in my opinion. The lesson to be taken is that we need to do a better job of teaching our black boys how to check their egos, and regulate their emotions so that they do not make any illogical/irreversible decision.
If you have actually been following the case, idk how anyone would think a different conclusion would’ve been made based upon the facts of the case, and not internet hearsay/misinformation. The bottom line is that Anthony’s attorneys were unable to present a case as to why his disproportionate use of force was justified in this case.
By all accounts (27 witnesses of all races -white, black, latino) it seems like the series of events went as follows: Anthony goes to the other schools tent and talks with a kid he knew from that school. It starts raining so he decided to stay under the tent. Metcalf ask him who he is, and what he’s doing there and Anthony says something to the effect of “I’m nobody”. Anthony is then asked to leave the tent, and he refuses. Metcalf approaches him asking him to leave again, and presumably remove him if he does not. Anthony then says “touch me and see what happens” while his hand is in his bag. Metcalf then either puts his hand on Anthony’s shoulder, or shoves him on the shoulder (that detail is still unclear), and then Anthony stabs him in the chest.
Nowhere in that story is there any detail that would let a jury think that a reasonable person would be in fear for their life or SERIOUS bodily injury. Anthony was not cornered/trapped, he could’ve left at any time. He doesn’t and stabs the kid in the chest. There is no part of that story where any reasonable person would think that use of a knife would be proportionate use of force in response to a hand or shove to the shoulder.
That being said, I do think he was over sentenced. 35 years is a lot to me, I also think the defense could’ve done a better job of presenting a case for manslaughter as I don't think he intended to kill him, however that is hard to prove when you stab someone in the chest, as that is a likely outcome of that action. I hope he wins an appeal and potentially gets a new trial because I do think his defense failed him, but even with a good defense there was no scenario where we was being sentenced to less than 15-20.
I hope they cover this Karmelo Anthony case in a responsible manner tomorrow...

Shelf lighting options, help.
Looking for some under shelf lighting options. I want some lighting underneath the lip of these shelves but I’m renting so don’t want drill into these shelves to wire the lighting. I’d prefer something that is battery operated and has a light sensor that turns on when it gets dark. Has anyone had any luck finding something like this?
Need help turning my bland "luxury" apartment into a fun/cozy MCM inspired space.
My wife and I have been living in this apartment for over 2 years now and are finally deciding to put our own touch into the space. The apartment is currently a sterile white, and we are trying to turn it into a mid-century modern inspired space with lots of warm tones. We really love walnut wood, and have committed to that for our bar stools, kitchen table, coffee table; everything else can go. I would preferably not want to paint the walls just because it'll pose a headache when we do eventually decide to move out, but not completely opposed to it. Would love and appreciate any input that you guys have, I have a vision but not sure how to execute it.
