Need help! Can’t decide on the exterior siding stain colour / transparency.
Currently sanding and stripping the existing exterior stain on our 1975 houses with cedar t&g siding.
Wood is older, but in decent condition, unfortunately the previous owner used a gel stain over the original oil stain when refinished last time. Bad prep, terrible product, and poor application has led to premature failure. Yay 😅
I’m leaning towards a similar colour using a transparent or semi-transparent stain to try and bring back the original wood lustre, but flip flopping like a fish out of water now.
Suggestions? Advice? Requests to film myself falling off the ladder at the 40’ peak?
What colour / transparency would you use? Heck I’d even ‘entertain’ painting as the cedar may not be suitable for staining due to age and previous coatings.
Thanks for any guidance Reddit 🙏
That looks like so much fun!
