Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENRIK!!!! 🥳

Secondly, are there any songs that are played on a 4 string bass? I kinda learnt The Dirt I'm Buried In and Im kinda learning Dont Go in the Forest. But because theyre done on a 5 string and I only have a 4 they sound stupid (I also dont have any pedals so Ive got 0 tone) and my strings are flimsy being basically drop tuned to B standard.

This is very long and ive needed to get this out for ages.

A bit about me first: RAFAC, Corporal, 1 of the 2 most senior cadets at my squadron in terms of experience (at the time as ive now left) and the founder and bassist for our squadron band

RANT ONE:

For a BBQ at our squadron to basically promote cadets, the band needed to play a song. Originally we planned (months in advance to allow time for individual practice) to play For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica as its relatively simple but still cool af. Me and the drummer/singer had learned our parts but the guitarists hadn't learnt theirs so one of the nights before (the only time we had to rehearse as a group) we tried helping the guitarists a little before realizing it was too late to learn the whole song and then practice it so we decided as a band it would be best to just play a song we all knew, Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes.

We ran it through loads times, got the tempo almost perfect and then one of the civilian instructors came and started having a go at us for not playing. Yet for the past 1hr 15 we'd been practicing none stop.

Then we went off for our break and when we came back the CI had written a bunch of music, the actual notes not the numbers or anything, on the whiteboard for us to learn. None of us knew how to read music like that.

So we spent the last hour of the night trying to figure out what it was and translate into tabs. 20mins before the end he came in and asked us why we hadn't been playing anything so I told him we didnt know how to read music like that. He proceeded to get angry and then whilst trying to "teach" it to us he said that it was the Top Gun Anthem. YOU COULDVE TOLD US THAT BEFORE OML. I already knew how to play this but it was different. I showed him that there was an easier way (he wanted us to learn it for the BBQ) but he said we had to learn it his way which was so confusing.

Then on final parade he said "You guys spent no time rehearsing and were just messing about so from now on I'm in charge of the band" YOURE THE REASON WE GOT NOTHING DONE YOU TOOL. I had never wanted to scream that at him more in my life. And then after as the band were packing away we all agreed that it was the CI's fault that we didnt get anything done and just stuck to playing SNA.

RANT 2:

This CI was also the father of the other most senior cadet. And as you can imagine, this granted the cadet special access to all the events. He'd be first pick for everything, would get to go on trips that werent advertised to the rest of the cadets. And finally was promoted all the way to Flight Sergeant for doing nothing. He had a worse attendance than me and sat in the NCOs office all the time when he was at the squadron yet still got promoted.

The FS was a pretty nice guy when he showed up and socialized. So I dont hate him. I hate his dad for allowing all the nepotism.

So one of my best friends has been acting odd recently. Ive asked him a few times if hes alright but he constantly insists hes fine. Ive know him for 4yrs now and more or less know what hes like and hes not acting normal. (We used to be really really close friends, i mean like gaming and hanging out 24/7 close) I reassure him that he can talk to me whenever he needs to but he doesnt. Instead talks to a friend that 1: is useless at life advice and 2: just doesnt care for anyone in our old friend group anymore.

Recently he put our whatsapp chat into his locked folder claiming it was because of the stuff I say (I can be pretty unhinged sometimes) but who's looking other than you? But then he goes on about me purposefully ignoring him all the time yet I dont. Ive been aired by him for daaayyyysss and left on read countless times. Whenever I see that he's messaged, I respond nine times outve ten almost instantly. And for the times I dont its usually because I am actually busy doing something and I'll get back to it when I can.

Like today for example, we were talking about my grandfather's old cassette and cd players because hes looking to buy one, I said no as its probably going to be the only thing I inherit from him. He didnt respond for a while and when he did I was out shopping with my mum. Id seen he sent a message but didnt have the chance to reply. He got semi mad when I didnt and I tried explaining I was busy but he didn't believe me. I moved away from it and told him that I accidently burnt a hole in my rucksack whilst trying to put a patch on to have a laugh. He left me on read.

The friendship is also very one-sided. I put loads of effort into in: planning hangouts, making him little gifts, bringing him back stuff from my holidays etc but he does nothing. Hes been to my house countless times and not once have I been to his. And recently when ive tried to persuade him to hang out he always says no and "I dont like social stuff anymore". He says hes dealing with it but hes been like this for months now, and I mean since like October last year. He says that hes stessed about starting his "real life" with either finding a job or staying at college and then also with learning to drive too, which is honestly a natural response. I'm sure the vast majority of us stressed about actually moving towards our career and what not. Not tryna deminish his feelings by saying that, I'm just saying he isnt alone in that one. I did send sone advice on dealing with it and what not.

Theres more and more I could go on about but I'll just leave that hes very short tempered, and I mean like anything and everything can offend him. He joked about my appearance and stuff but as soon as I do it back he gets MAD. He blocks me, refuses to talk to me for days and tries pinning the blame on me all the time. Hes gotten mad about me saying I prefer one song to another and that the song is better in my opinion. He states his opinion as if its the only and correct one to have but then goes on about preferences. Youre basically saying only youre allowed to have an opinion. But when others express theirs you get mad?? This has been a thing for a while now. We did have a period where he'd fall out with me every fortnight for no reason and I'd be the one forced to make up with him yet I did nothing.

(I have another friend that I basically send screenshots of chats or stories about smth that's happened between me and my best friend mainly asking on advice on how to resolve it and move on without anymore beef. She's very honest and will call me out on things if I'm in the wrong and is just a genuinely great human being. Not to mention smart af. And each time shes been agreeing with me, that ive done nothing wrong and its most of the time no ones fault and more of a miss understanding. She and my best friend dont know eachother irl, and its pretty certain my best friend sends screenshots to his friends and what not. I guess you could say shes the "I'm not supposed to tell anyone but I'm telling you anyway" friend lol)

So would you say hes trying not to be friends with me anymore or has a mental health problem? I honestly think its a mix of both but I'll let you guys be the judge.

Are there any good anime websites that are up? 9anime, the one i use is down which is annoying. Ive tried a bunch of websites but none of them have Initial D, which is what I'm currently watching.
