FVAP v Superior Courts. How serious is this for court reporting?

I’m a court reporting student in CA looking into the FVAP v Superior Courts of California case. From what I understand, it’s about using electronic recording when a court reporter isn’t available. How big of an impact do you guys think this could actually have on the profession? Is this likely a real step toward replacing reporters? Should I be worried about this?

Would appreciate insight from anyone more familiar with the legal/court reporting world. Thank you!

How should I dress for the CVR test?

I’m sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I (25M) am taking my CVR test on June 13th and 14th, and I am not sure what to wear. I’ve only ever worked jobs in grocery stores and jobs like that so I’ve never really had to think too much about what to wear. I’m not sure how to dress to the CVR and what would be appropriate as a man. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you guys!

I’m close to graduating and terrified I picked the wrong career

For context in live in Southern CA. San Diego County

I feel really upset right now. I picked court reporting because I heard it was an amazing career and because it pays well, and honestly I was in a position where I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life and didn’t feel like I had many options.

I’m close to graduating now and starting to panic and almost regret my decision because of how many reporters online talk about having absolutely no free time. I’ve always believed in “work to live, not live to work.” I genuinely don’t understand the point of making good money if your entire life becomes work.

I’ll also be honest and say I don’t really have a passion for court reporting itself. I respect the profession and I’ve worked hard in school, but this was never some dream career for me. I wanted stability, decent pay, and a life outside of work.

On top of that, my girlfriend and I went into this path together, and I keep worrying about what happens if the workload ends up being that intense. I’m scared that we’ll both be so consumed by work that we barely have time for each other, even after we get married, and I don’t want us to drift apart or end up resenting the life we chose.

I’m almost certain I’ll be forced into freelance when I graduate because San Diego courts are filled up right now. And the more I read about the career in general, the more depressed I get. Constant editing at night, working weekends, always being behind, never really being “off.” I never wanted a career where I come home and spend my nights and weekends still working.

I know every job has stress, but I specifically wanted something where when I’m done for the day, I’m DONE. Now I feel stupid for not thinking harder about this before putting years into school.

I’m not trying to be negative or disrespectful toward the profession at all. I’m just genuinely scared that I picked a career that doesn’t match the kind of life I want. And if you’re working as a reporter now, do you actually have a life outside of work or are the people online telling the truth?

I’m sorry if this sounds stupid or immature, but I needed to rant and wanted to hear some feedback from people.

Is there something affordable that resembles this watch?

I absolutely adore this watch but don’t have even near close to enough money to dream of affording it.

Does anyone know of a watch that resembles this one? Would really appreciate it!

Im attaching a video here: https://imgur.com/gallery/missing-cat-M0YZ7LH

Hey everyone I live in CA and my car is a 2011 Mazda 3 s. I’m very much a car newbie but from what I see in this video I have a resonator, a straight pipe where my rear cat should be, and then I ended the the video showing my main cat.

I got this car from CarMax 4 years ago and have paid the car off since then. I’ve smogged my car twice since I got it. I have to renew my registration and went to smog my car the other day thinking everything was fine but the guy told me I don’t have a second cat.

First off, I’m wondering how this got past CarMax and the other smog guy. Anyways I don’t know what to do now and really would appreciate some help. I’ve had some financial problems recently so this really screw me over and I’m hoping it’s not that expensive.

Do I need to buy a new 2nd cat and if so where do I even find that? Also I’m sure the installation will be expensive too. I know I need my car to pass a visual inspection because that’s why the last guy failed me.

I would really appreciate any help guys thank you.

Got this from a trade and am wondering if it’s legit or not. The cap spins really easily and makes this squeaking noise not sure if that’s normal lol

Also I am noticing the strength is quite weak. Like I can barely notice it after spraying once on my skin and bringing my wrist to my nose after like 25 minutes.

Thank you!!!

My car is a 2011 Mazda 3 Automatic with like 130k miles on it. I got it back in 2022 from CarMax and have smogged it once in 2024 and once again today. The guy today told me that I don’t have a 3-way cat and that the previous owner straight piped it…. I had no idea about that until now and have no idea what to do. The guy passed my car because he felt bad and then showed me that it’s missing.

My question is what do I do now? I have no idea what the next step is and I also kinda feel screwed over by CarMax like how did they not notice that before? And how did that fly?? I also just finished doing some expensive ass repairs already.

I don’t know, but I’m just looking for advice because I feel totally lost. Thank you guys.
