Slow Summers?

I feel like I am able to slow down and find simple joys in every season except summer. All summer, I just seethe and think about how hot it is, how sweaty I am, how I can't go outside for fear of a sunburn or heat exhaustion. I'm trying to find small joys, but it just feels so much harder.

What small joys have you found in summer that allow you to feel present and slow down?

Couldn’t let her go

I posted this on a couple of sewing subs before finding this one! I thought you guys would like to see, too!

I went through a pretty big change in my body due to health reasons and couldn’t fit into one of my favorite dresses anymore, so I changed it to fit the new me. ☺️🩷

Sewing is definitely a super power and has helped me feel so confident in my body.

Edit: WOW!! Thank you all for such kind words! I can't believe how much everyone liked this. I'm happy to have inspired some of you!! Sewing is definitely a superpower!

Where are we shopping for natural fibers?

I‘m trying to keep most of my new purchases to 50% or more natural fiber content (cotton, linen, and wool mostly).

Is anyone else trying to shop the same? if so, where are you finding these items?

Renter-Friendly Upgrades/DIY?

I‘m looking to spruce up my apartment with color and art without losing my deposit when I eventually move to a new place.

What are some ways you’ve customized your rental property that was easy to remove or needed minor patching upon move out?

Couldn’t let this go

Due to medical reasons, my body has changed a lot, which meant that I’ve had to say goodbye to a lot of clothes I’ve loved.

But i was able to turn my favorite dress into a shirt I adore! Learning to sew has been more than a hobby for me, it’s helped me heal and learn to accept and love the body I’m in. 🩷

The dress was rayon, but I added a linen collar and sleeves. Link to the pattern used for the shirt!

EDIT: Thank you so much for all the kind words. I can't believe the reaction this got! I'm failing to find the words for how much this community's kindness means to me.

Google bought Fitbit. Fitness tracker alternatives?

I've had a Fitbit for 11 years, and I opened my Fitbit app this week to find it's now called Google Health...

So now I'm looking for non-Google alternatives to fitness trackers! Really my only requirements is tracking steps and heartrate. Any suggestions welcome!

Pansexual pride tote!

I wanted to make myself a bag in time for Pride month! ☺️🩷💛💙

This is my first time lining a crochet project and found the most PERFECT fabric on sale at the craft store!! I’m so proud of this!

I think the zipper pocket was my biggest challenge but it was so satisfying when I got it right.
