Hello I am teaching adult ESL and one of the things my student wants to do is improve her listening skills. does anyone know any shows on netflix that are good for people who are learning english. (my student is lower intermediate.) shes pretty good at speaking, reading and writing.
Okay so some background. My dad is a white guy from New York and my mom is Puerto Rican grew up her whole life on the island but also Americanized due to having gone to college in the states. I am very proud of my mom’s culture and it plays a huge role on my interest. The one issue is I don’t really look like a stereotypical Puerto Rican and most of the Spanish that I learned was at school and through studying abroad. Due to these circumstances I feel a lot of imposter syndrome when it comes to my identity as a half Puerto Rican. Sometimes I feel like I need to tone down the pride in my identity because I worry that people will think I’m like one of those white people who say that they are 1% Cherokee 😭. I’m just curious to hear about other people’s experiences with this.

I have been binge watching cien años de soledad on Netflix and I have two episodes and a half left. I am so nervous to Watch til the end because I know it will be sad. Someone convince me to Watch till the end 😭.
So I am about to start my MSW at Loyola and I have two questions.
is it weird for first year grad students to attend club meetings or is that considered weird?
does Loyola have a Latino students club? If so how cliquey is it? I tried attending Latin student clubs at my school but it was super awkward because it was one whole friend group that ran it.
Is there anyone here from the states that does social work in Latin America. If so what’s it like working there? What country are you in? What was the transition like?

Does anyone else feel super depressed when they have to reject someone especially when they treat you right. Like I feel like I’m the one being rejected. I know that sounds selfish but it’s how I feel. Like it’s heart breaking
So I have been seeing this guy I’ve met on the apps. He’s so funny chill and he’s my type. The one issue is i don’t feel romantic attraction to him. I think I want to break it off with him. Should I basicallu tell him what i said in this text?

I literally don’t believe in love anymore. My friend Is going to get divorced, I think my parents are thinking of divorcing, my other friend and her brother got into a break up. I am unable to reciprocate feelings for the sweetest and cutest guy. I just don’t know what to do. I’m about to graduate college and I don’t think finding love is possible anymore.
