Happy Independence Day!

(although it might be already past august 15th in some parts of the world including Korea😭). Today's national liberation day of Korea following the defeat of Japan in WWII. I tried some clean swiss style for this one. Any feedback is welcome since this is first time trying this style!!

Any thoughts on this?

I tried doing interwar modernist political poster vibe. I did similar theme last time too and I think it's a good practice for using vector shapes and color compositions. I did grainy finish on photoshop.

The text says Unite — united front for the working class and all.

What if the Spartacist Uprising was successful? - Europe 1920

Shortly after the Great War, Spartacist uprising took place in 1918 November earlier than in OTL. The free Socialist Republic of Germany was declared a week before Elbert's declaration of German Republic, allowing sailors and rebels within the army to support the new socialist republic.

Along with the success in the German Revolution, Poland-Soviet war ended in relatively swift victory of the Russian sfsr, connecting the Red Army with Germany and Hungary

At the same time in the south, opportunistic Mussolini joined the revolutionary faction in Biennio Rosso after being inspired by rapid spread of the revolution in Europe combining his revolutionary and totalitarian vision with syndicates to establish the Italian Revolutionary Republic.

Just generic tomato pasta

Normal tomato pasta with pici noodle. I settled with this recipe after trying many variations of tomato pasta recipe. I am not an expert cook or anything like that so it's js the way I like it.
I used pici that I made at home this time and I think it works surprisingly well with tomato sauce. I think rough surface allows sauce to stick to the noodle better.

Anyways here is the not so special recipe I use for 1 serving.

  1. Start boiling the pasta at right time so you may have the pasta finished in al dente 1min after the sauce is finished.

  2. pour good amount of olive oil in a pot until around 40 square centimeter is covered

  3. put 1 anchovy and 1 clove of chopped garlic in a pot.
Anchovy works very good with tomato sauce for enhanced umami flavor in my opinion but it's optional

  4. stir fry at lowest fire until anchovy dissolves easily in oil when touched with fork. Make sure not to roast garlic until brown, otherwise it will be bitter

  5. Pour 200ml of canned tomato into the pot.
Any canned tomato works fine (purée diced whole etc...) you can decide to grind tomato for more uniform texture; however, tomato will naturally soften even if you use diced or whole tomato so you can mash it in the pot.

5.Simmer at lowest fire for around 13min. You can reduce time to ~10min for more fresh flavor and increase to ~17min for more heavier and less tangy flavor. Time period may depend on your gas stove performance. You should leave the pot open so that water can evaporate away.

  1. Once done with simmering, add preferred amount of salt and pepper to the sauce.
I usually use 2g of salt and add more later after putting pasta water to balance out the salinity.

  2. (optional) If you have any kind of basil, put it on top of the sauce, don't mix and put the lid on so that basil can release the aroma in hot air.

  3. Toss the al dente pasta and ~30mL of pasta water into the pot and boil at medium-weak heat for 45seconds.

  4. You have tomato pasta.

Illustrator or Pixelmator?

Hello I'm a beginner designer who make couple of leaflet, posters, and infographics for school occasionally. I recently got interested in early 1900s modernist pieces like included. sorry for my poor english

I've been using Adobe Illustrator since 2023 for most of my works so far since that is the program provided by the school for free. I guess I did get kind of used to essential functions like effects but I felt that making complex geometric shapes etc isn't quite straight forward to some extent. So I am considering altering my design program to pixelmator pro which is supposedly more user friendly ui wise?

+I think illustrator isn't optimized as much for mac since I experienced several crashes for no clear reasons.

So I would appreciate you guys opinion on this.

Before starting, I don't intend to advocate for screen protector use.

I came across many posts on this subreddit that appear to come down to one conclusion that screen protector sucks. Main reason for this claim is that screen protector drastically ruins the screen quality(through reflection) which is what I completely agree with.

But, I think there are couple things people should know about the use of screen protector.

Based on my first hand experience of using three m2 or later modern macbook airs, I noticed that MacBook screens almost inevitably collect permanent marks from abrasion with keyboard and trackpad edges as illustrated in the picture. Note that I am a student who carries the laptop around a lot(although I do use a protective sleeve). When I first noticed the marks, I tried to clean using microfiber, damp, dry, with alcohol but I couldn't erase it. I double checked with many of my colleagues with the same laptop and all of theirs also turned out to have these permanent keyboard marks on the screen. If you think your MBA doesn't have any mark, try directing flashlight at the screen area that corresponds to trackpad and keyboard edge.

To be fair, these marks are usually not disturbing in regular room lighting. I tried using matte screen protector to hide those marks until I realized that using cheap screen protector and ruining the display quality by increasing reflection is not a good trade off(especially given that the screen is already scratched).

But I do wish people realize how fragile Macbook Screen can be. Especially if you are a new macbook owner and plan to resell the laptop in the future or simply want to keep the screen clean, (and does not do graphic work on your laptop) screen protector is probably the only alternative that can keep the screen actually protected.

+I saw many intimidating posts saying screen protectors can damage the actual anti refelctive coating when removing, but, that simply does not appear to be a case anymore for m2 or later MBAs. Also, most screen protectors in the market rn do not use traditional glue type adhesive to attach to the screen.

If you do plan to use screen protectors, I at least recommend using film type rather than glass ones. Glass protectors tend to be thicker than or close to screen to keyboard tolerance and affect hinge stiffness
