Cold start rattle, fresh VTC actuator spring

Hey guys, hoping someone may have some insight on this one. I used to get a cold start rattle in the winter, and that was my VTC actuator going bad, replaced the spring and the noise never came back.

Fast forward about 6 months, just starting yesterday or the day before, I’m getting a slight/moderate rattle sound similar to the VTC actuator, and it goes away after like 2 seconds. Ambient temperature is about 26° so it’s not because of cold.

I’m just over 100k miles, but I know the timing chains are supposed to be lifetime, however I have over-revved the car one time about a month or two ago, so I’m curious if this situation is that money shift materializing.

I have a new OEM TCT in my garage I may try to install when I’m home. Also I noticed on idle it sounds like I have quite a few backfires or misfires, an irregular idle. Does this point in any direction?

TIA everyone, I’ll try to get a video tomorrow morning.

What could have caused this, and is it fixable?

Hey guys,

I own a 2009 Civic coupe, came out to my car and saw this point and what appears to be a crease. What is weird to me is that the dent is coming from the inside, but the trunk is too far back and the passenger compartment is too far forward. I park outside in my driveway, but it is a large driveway away from my family’s cars and no trees for anything to fall from.

Only thing that comes to mind, is I heard something hit my car on the highway the other day, and never really saw what it could be. Perhaps a rock flew up and caused this? Let me know if more pictures or video would be good. TIA!

Odd rubbing on one side of fender well?

Have this odd wear on my FG2, not sure if it is fresh or not. Only appears on the passenger side but not the driver.

Had a collision earlier this year on front right, got it fixed promptly and didn’t drive more than maybe 5kms.

Current alignment is -1° of camber all around so I don’t think it’s that. Any ideas guys? Is my frame all fucked up? The alignment came out alright and nothing looks kinked.

8th generation spring recommendations?

Hey everyone!!

I have an 8th gen si coupe, currently riding on Koni STR.T and Tein H.Tech springs.

Have an issue where months now after install, it rides really harshly, like bumps feel like my friend’s car with coilovers at times. I was wondering if anyone has any experience and advice with some higher end springs?

I don’t want ultra low, my Tein springs only lower 7/8” and I wouldn’t want anymore than MAYBE half an inch, but with that causes tire scrubbing and such, so I wouldn’t prefer to keep it at right about 1” lowered.

What is a nice, very high quality spring for a daily driver, want to avoid coilovers for cost reasons mainly, but if there are coilovers which are nice enough to maintain comfort and add a “sportiness” I’m not completely opposed. I just know Tein springs are more on the budget side, but I was in college when I put them on and they fit my price range.

Would like a nice set of Swift springs or something but they don’t make them, Eibach I have heard and seen, are too soft and compromise ride in both comfort and stability somehow lol.

Thanks everyone in advance!
