What changes would you make?

We live in a heavily wooded neighborhood with live oaks and trees in everyone’s lawns and yards so we won’t be cutting down the large oak tree. But I am looking for exterior suggestions. I think I want to get rid of the shutters, change the roof to a metal roof, and replace the balcony with a black iron balcony. We are doing an addition above the garage. Would you still with the cream siding or change it when we repaint? Ideas welcome. This is a hill country style limestone home.

How to stand out as a youth goalie in try outs?

Hi! I have a youth goalie and we are getting into try outs for fall. I’ve been disappointed with the try outs we typically have which is getting in the net and taking live shots on 3 a v 2 d drills. It results in a lot of shots in the crease during the try outs and doesn’t really show some of the other things like communication and clears. My child’s biggest strength are his clears, maintaining possession and reading the field to pass to the right player. He’s hopefully sticking with the same club but he wants to try out for some higher level teams in the club umbrella. Any advice for standing out? This is a 2034 goalie.

What do you think about going to major national tourneys and losing?

I’m curious what people think of when a club goes to major national tournaments and loses. Not insane blow outs- like 5 to 8 but just loses every game. We have athletic kids but all the teams we play are nationally ranked east coast kids and we are from a state that isn’t on the east coast and it’s hard to compete. This is for the younger years 4-6th grade). Kids had good spirits and didn’t care, we don’t pull in kids from other teams or older kids or cheat and keep a clean roster and most kids play pretty evenly so there’s a lot of development. We have top tier coaches. Kids were still in good spirits but this approach seems to be the opposite of what most clubs do so I am curious. Is it to stretch us and play the highest competition so we see our weaknesses? Or do they eventually think we will get there in a few years?

Cured my long list of food intolerances!

I have struggled with severe food intolerances for the last 10 - 15 years. If I had even one piece of cauliflower my stomach would look like a basketball and be in immense pain from gas and bloating for hours. I have gone to multiple gastros, tried multiple pro and prebiotics, have done whole 30 multiple times and Fodmaps and nothing has helped me. The list of what I could not eat: broccoli, cauliflower, any bean or legume, pine nuts, cabbage, kale, shallots, kombucha , garlic, soft cheeses, blue cheese, eggplant, squash, any onions.. pickles!!!! I absolutely love pickles so I thought I would make an exception just because and I bought the grillos pickles. I started eating a few. It hurt but not as bad as the cheap kind. Every day I was eating them as a snack and all gas, bloating symptoms went away over a month or so. I can eat hummus, raw veggies, ricotta, pizza, anything really! It is wild. The pickle juice had some impact on my stomach and digestion. That’s the only thing I’ve changed. I go through about one jar every 3-4 days. This is a natural style refrigerated pickle! Has anyone had experience with this??
