Spoilers (No, Really) Re: The Red Death

If you haven't played FH and open the spoilers below, you will ruin a major plot point and be sad :-(.

>!Everyone discusses the pathetic nature of The Red Death like it's some hilarious joke, and that that was the writers' intention. I disagree on both counts. When I got to Red Death Island and heard The Mariner, it was one of the more crushing lines in the game for me. You've got this woman who knows she is going to die; she is desperate to leave something behind. Her last big mission in life turns out to be... A fucking joke. I hate that the SS can only basically laugh at her; it feels like some crossed wires in the writers' room. I wish you could've told The Mariner how much she has actually done for her people. It was some really grim "ashes to ashes and dust to dust" shit, IMO. Anyone have a different read? !<

First Time Industrial/office/retail RE Investor: Mentors and Paths to Explore?

(I don't have the community karma for r/realestateinvesting or r/Entrepreneur, so here I am).

Howdy,

I am interested in beginning a project to purchase a very modest investment property. This is a long-term project; I’ll need years to save up the down payment. I’m curious what I should be doing now, at the outset. Here’s my profile:

- I have modest experience as a small business owner and in program management (just to say I’m good with moving parts).

- I’m located in Brooklyn, so I’d want to purchase within 3 hours of NYC. Currently most interested in Allentown or Philadelphia, PA.

- Just starting, so anything is possible, but I don’t foresee being able to do more than 500k with 10-20% down. This seems to lock me out of NYC proper. Am I correct here?

- Interested chiefly in industrial because it seems I can get more value from an industrial tenant (comm. storage?) than an office or retail tenant. I am not interested in apartments or living units for ethical and logistics reasons. Is my reasoning sound?

- I would do this as kind of a build-to-suit arrangement, bringing my prospective tenant along when I looked at potential purchases. This feels much safer than buying and finding a tenant later. Am I correct?

- I’m not imagining vast wealth here. My goal would be to make 2k profit/mo. Is that realistic from a 2-6000sq ft rental in the Northeast?

- I have a recognized severe disability (mentioned here for possible loan program eligibility).

- I would specifically want to conduct myself ethically. No displacement, firm but fair, no business I don’t morally align with. Anyone have experience here?

I feel like people might read all this and think I’m planning a ridiculous amount of work for 24k/y. But my entire purpose of investing is to fund an art studio for my private art practice. 2000 dollars a month would give me leeway to do that and then some. Furthermore, with the economy the way it is, I feel like the future may be working for myself, not waiting to get laid off (read: I'd be interested in growing this to an actual living). Do my modest initial goals open any pathways for me here? Lastly, what do you wish you knew when you were just imagining real estate investment?

Singles-Only Volunteering Events?

I heard a segment on WNYC about a singles event that was also a community cleanup event. Sounded cool! I searched the sub and Google, and I've found lots of old events, but nothing ongoing.

I'm a 31 y/o dude, and I've lived here since 2013. While traditional singles events at a bar sound absolutely terrifying to me, a volunteering event sounds like the perfect place to find someone simpatico.

I know I Lost, But These Rules Need Some Decimal Points

So it would appear I am about to lose my money. The high for today for Central Park, as reported by the NWS, is 84.02; I bet 83-84/yes. However, all the possible bets only have full numbers; if the high was 85-86, does that mean those "yes" buys lose as well?

Is "In Review" Purgatory Forever?

Howdy, as the title says, I have two applications "in review". One is old, but for a job and office I'd be a great fit for (the DOT Art team). Do hiring managers keep a list of resumes that almost made the cut for later reference?

Custom Shirt From Tailors in Our Area?

Hi,

I've always wanted to get a button-up made from cool fabric I've found. We have so many tailors on Church Ave/nearby. Has anyone ever done this locally? I don't know anything about this process, or else I'd try it myself. I've gotten a shirt tailored at the shop next to Gyro King, and it was a lovely experience.

If You Saw A Dude Rip An Airpod Out of a Guy's Ear and Throw it on the Tracks at B/Q Church at about 3:15p Today...

Edit: The MTA got it back! Only City on Earth baybeeeee.

That was me -_____-.

If you happened to see it happen, I'd really appreciate you DM'ing me, idk, maybe a statement to the MTA or cops would help me? I guess I should be grateful he decided to throw my AirPod and not me... But I absolutely cannot afford to replace these right now. The station agent made a call, but I somehow doubt they'll come out for an AirPod.

People suck.

Two Similar Roles in Dept. of Transportation TPM - Applied to One, Considered for Both?

Hi,

I recently applied for a job in the DOT. I found a similar posting that looks like it reports to the job I applied for. Am I automatically considered for both, or should I submit a second application? I can't find a public HR contact, and I don't want to dig up a non-public email and accidentally get a bad mark against myself.
