Crash every time I equip the VSSK Vyklop

Crash every time I equip the VSSK Vyklop

SOLVED: I was using DX9 without supporting mods it apparently needs to run, switched to DX11 and reduced settings big time and no more crashes. Thanks all!

Hello there Stalker Gamma sub,

I'm new to Gamma, and I'm playing using the one click install on GOG (on PC)

Loving the game but had a few crashes, notably this one when equipping the VSSK Vyklop I snatched from the military. Some icons for weapons in my inventory are different too, such as the PPSH is labelled as a Skorpion in the inventory screen, and my SKS I spawned in with appears as what looks like a grenade launcher (not sure if this is normal or not).

Just wondered if anyone had similar experiences with the one click install through GOG? If so, how did you rectify this? Debating a complete wipe / reinstall, though I'm not sure that'd help.

I had another crash error that was similar and seemingly related to sights/optics. Unsure what caused it though & forgot to screencap.

Thanks in advance, I'm not experienced at this sort of thing by any means.

Outlet buy - Solovair greasy 11 eye derby boots

Bought this pair of greasy 11 eye derby boots recently on Solovairs outlet, and it’s safe to say I love them. However, today I spotted this rip in the leather right at the end of the toe box. Now, Solovair’s Policy on outlet purchases is that the condition of factory seconds (these are factory seconds btw) won’t affect functionality.

Just debating if I have a case here with customer service, or if this is just kinda an “is what it is” situation. These have definitely been worn, but I know I haven’t caused this rip myself, at least I don’t think I haven. I’ve worn these boots like 4 or so days (not consecutively) so idk if I’d be able to return them tbh.

What do we all think? Some kinda filler? Is it just gonna get worse?

I’m gonna cross post this in r/askacobbler too

Thanks all:)

How long did it take you to become a cobbler?

So in addition to the question in the title, I have a few other questions to add too. Basically, I’m living in a small town in rural Canada and I’ve spotted a gap in the market, there is literally no cobblers in the area at all.

Over the course of the last 3 or so years I’ve actually taken a great interest in looking after my boots. I work a job that required hard wearing, expensive ones - so naturally I figured out how to take care of them.

I’ve learnt a small amount about leather care / refurbishment but it’s very limited.

So my other questions are as follows:

- How long did it take you to train as a Cobbler, and would it be possible to learn through videos etc? As I’m so rural, I wouldn’t really be able to take an apprenticeship with someone. I’d wondered if it’s possible?

- How long did it take you to set up your Workshop, and what essential equipment would you recommend to someone who’s starting out with small, minor repairs?

- Has anyone else here become a Cobbler in this way? What learning materials did you use?

- Any other general advice that any Cobblers here might be able to give? Things which you wish you’d known when starting out?

I know it’s going to be a huge learning curve if I do take this route, I just want to offer this community a service that they don’t yet have. I realise I’m not going to be super specialised in the field for years and years etc, and I’ll just be starting off very simple. Thank you all so much for your time in advance!

How to get banned from the wire sub

Enjoy life, spend enough time up in the club, go outside and touch grass often, kill 16 czechoslovakians singlehanded, inappropriately sing obnoxiously loud at funerals, come second to a German Shepards shaved asshole in a beauty contest, ask where Frank Sobotkas name is in all of this, cry for mommy and piss yourself while getting shot through the head by the boss, be pissed that they don’t have honey nut Cheerios, create an open air drug market, go to gay clubs dressed as a leather daddy, eat Johnny cakes, separate from wife, push son around, eat gabagool, kill horse and want to fuck therapist

Choose life. choose getting banned from the wire sub.

Stalker GAMMA on Steam Deck

Hello fellow Stalkers,

Hope everyone here is well. I just had a few questions to those of you who have played GAMMA, and particularly those who have had the niche experience of playing it on Steam Deck.

Been playing the original trilogy basically since it came out and I’m wanting to try GAMMA, I think it’s time I finally made the jump and just did it. I own all the OG games on steam, but IIRC to get GAMMA to work by downloading it through GOG (which I intend to do to hopefully make life simpler) I may need to re-purchase CoP through GOG. I suppose I’ve made peace with that hahaha!

I’ve seen old posts on here about installing GAMMA on the Steam Deck. However, one is around 3 years old and there’s another one around 1 year old (from before GAMMA being released on GOG as a 1-click install, which happened on the 1st December 2025).

So my questions are as follows:

- Has anyone since got GAMMA working on the steam deck through the 1-click install on GOG? How did you go about it / how easy was it? (I imagine it’s all done through desktop mode, looks like I need Heroic Games Launcher?)

- Was there any complications with getting the mod to work with Heroic Games Launcher?

- Should I just forget about it on Steam Deck and try to run it on my craptop instead? Lmao

- I’ve seen people achieving a not bad FPS level, if anyone could recommend settings for steam deck to make GAMMA run smooth it would be appreciated!

If nobody has tried this yet, I don’t mind guinea pigging it and trying to do this myself for future stalkers who’d like to do the same, hopefully this post can be helpful too lol. Just thought it might be worth asking the questions here still, also should add that I’m not overly bothered about controller support, I play with my steam deck docked to a TV most of the time and that’s honestly how I intend to play GAMMA. Thanks for your time!

Whatever happened there…

North Jersey Waste Management Consultant here, just did a 3 day stretch in Reddit jail. It’s anti Sopranos discrimination is what it is! I wanted to post but I couldn’t, I compromised! I ate grilled cheeses and came here. Then Phil leotardo turned himself into a vacant, end of story!

Hello there, new to the sub so just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I’m a Brit in Canada and a few nights ago I had my last old gold can of Old Jamaica Ginger Beer. Loved the stuff back home, and we can get it out here too. My local Safeway seemed to have a huge stock of the old stuff, but now it’s moved on to the new packaging.

Upon tasting it, it was waaay bitter than what was in the gold can. Honestly just an inferior flavour tbh. Anyone else had this experience? If I’m right, then never forget what they took from us! The old flavour was primo man. Also, I specifically remember years ago they did a fiery flavour (haven’t seen it out here but I know they’ve brought it back in the UK) so to any UK people here - how’s the fiery one? Does it live up to the old fiery one or is it just as wack? I’m really hoping it does because I’ll definitely go for one next time I’m back on English soil if so!

First time here, so thanks all!

EDIT: I did just now look through some older posts, seems they must have changed the recipe too. Everyone else is saying it tastes awful too so it’s not just me. RIP Old Jamaica lol, I must have been lucky to be on the old cans this whole time tbh

Finished it after like 7+ attempts, it is one of the most ragebait missions I’ve ever played in a game series. Likened to that stupid helicopter mission at the end of Saints Row two. Absolute gauntlet of a mission!

First time I nearly aced it, only to be rapidly overtook by like 4 other drivers, stupida fucking game! Also the car handled as if it was a motorbike on ice. On a positive note, I just want to thank others who posted about it on this sub, the tips and hints got me over the finish line.

This race genuinely gave me high blood pressure for the last hour or so. The saving grace about the race itself was the hilarious sound bites of the other drivers screaming “what!” when overtaking them.

Whoever made that race mission, you should see a therapist! Quite frankly, I’m depressed and ashamed.

Anyways $4 a pound.
