Jewelry shop said my gold chain is fake after a magnet test. Could they be wrong?

I recently took a gold chain to a jewelry shop that buys and sells gold and silver.

They tested it with a magnet and told me it wasn’t real gold.

The thing is, my dad has always insisted that the chain is real, so now I’m confused. Is a magnet test enough to determine whether a gold chain is fake?

Also, has anyone had experience with jewelry that was sold as real gold but turned out to be fake?

Should I get a second opinion or have it tested another way?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Where’s the best place to sell gold jewelry in Oakland?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to sell a few pieces of genuine gold jewelry and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for reputable places in or around Oakland that offer fair prices.

I’m hoping to avoid getting lowballed, so I’d love to hear about any local jewelers, coin shops, or gold buyers you’ve had good experiences with. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

$20 Goodwill Find Doll.

This is actually my first doll.

I found a large doll at Goodwill today for twenty dollars and decided to buy her.

Her outfit is highly detailed, featuring a floral dress with lace, roses, and matching bloomers underneath.

She is very heavy. Her head, chest, hands, and legs are made of porcelain, while her torso is stuffed fabric. She also has tiny molded teeth visible in her mouth.

The engravings on the back of her neck under her hair mesh list her exact production facts:

The artist is Cheri Chagall.
The finisher is Evelyn Loo.
She is named Emma.
She belongs to The Diamond Collection from 1993.
A tag on her hair mesh states she was made in the Philippines.

I just brought her home and wanted to share the details of this 1993 vintage piece.

$20 Goodwill find! 1993 Cheri Chagall “Emma” doll.

I just found this huge doll at Goodwill today for literally $20 and I honestly couldn't leave her behind.

Her outfit is crazy detailed, it’s this super pretty floral dress with tons of lace, rosettes, and it even has matching little bloomers underneath.

She's really heavy, and her head, chest, hands, and legs feel like porcelain or some kind of ceramic, but her middle body is stuffed fabric.

The detail on her face is insane, she even has tiny teeth showing!

I have absolutely no idea about doll history, but I pulled back her hair mesh at the back of her neck to see if there were any clues, and it has some names engraved into the mold. It says:

-Cheri Chagall
-Evelyn Loo / THE DIAMOND COLLECTION © 1993
EMMA
-The little black tag on her hair says "Made in Philippines"

I literally just walked through the door with her and haven't had a chance to do any deep digging yet, so I wanted to post her here first!

Does anyone know the history behind this doll? Who is Cheri Chagall? Is she a rare collectible or just a standard 90s decoration?

I'd love to know if she's actually worth anything, or if I just scored a super cool piece of vintage decor for twenty bucks.

Any info you doll experts have would be amazing.

Thanks so much

3 days in and our leopard gecko finally came out for food!

We’ve had our leopard gecko for 3 days now, and today was the first time he actually came out when we tried feeding him.

We’ve mostly seen him staying in his hides since we brought him home, so it was really nice to see him come out on his own.

Is this pretty normal for a new gecko? How long did it take for yours to get comfortable enough to come out and eat?

Thanks! 😊🦎
