I would love recommendations if anyone has any!

Hi everyone. My grandma is 88 yrs old and finally concerned about what will happen to her money when she passes. She has a trust set up in her and my grandpa’s (he has passed) name. Her bet worth is around $2m and she owns two houses. One house she rents out and the other she lives in. She also lives in Oregon, where inheritance/estate taxes are horrible. So shes anticipating losing about half her net worth when she dies.

My grandma is not a business woman. Her entire philosophy around money revolves around investing in CDs and not spending the principal. As a result, her money has not grown the way that it should have in her lifetime.

She does know about gifting money out, but it’s been difficult to get her to do so. At the end of the day it is her money.

Her CPA mentioned something about tax shelters, but from my brief research, that doesn’t seem legit. I’m wondering if there’s maybe a way we can use her rental house to help with the taxes in some way?

It’s been very difficult to get her to do anything different to manage her money, but my mom and I have finally convinced her to make an appointment to go over her trust and to meet with a financial advisor.

I would love to hear what kinds of questions I should be asking her estate lawyer and the financial advisor, as this is new to me as well. Also welcome to other suggestions.

35F here. I’m having the hardest time making new friends here. I’m pretty laid back, like to go out for drinks, socialize, play board games - generally have fun.

Would anyone be interested in meeting up tonight in the Old Town area?

I’ve lived there in town for a year now, but still have a very small social circle. I miss going out. Where would you recommend to a 35F to go out alone? Either casual or more dressy. I’m in the Old Town area, but wouldn’t mind venturing out a bit.
